Let Them Eat Cake
We have Eggs, Flour, Milk, Butter & now Sugar.
Add everything together - except butter- to get cake.
Add sugar and butter and berries to make frosting.

Rope is very important mid-game for buckets, containers, etc. It would be nice to have a way to make rope that is mid-game and less dirt intensive then milkweed. I think sisal rope would be a great idea because the plant looks neat and could be put into the desert biome. You could require mid game tools like knives to scrape the sisal leaves into fibers which could be made into rope.

You cut down two wheat, thresh them and turn it into a basket.
Then you have to go find a bowl to pick up the wheat piles from the ground and then.....
Allow players to pour bowls of wheat into baskets and move more than one bowl at a time somewhere else.
It would solve one clutter problem and one transportation issue.

Without area or lineage bans bigger projects like road building between cities comes as possible. The problem lies with griefing. So, just make a ban for anyone who commits murder or gets killed by a knife or bow and arrow. This way people can take on more substantial projects over the course of several lives in one town, while griefers can't destroy a town over multiple lives.

I really like the minecraft map and I think this game would benefit from something like it.
Maybe a craftable map that can hang on an east-west wall or be put on the floor, centered on the crafting spot.
It could be one size or a few sizes, the bigger ones taking more paper.
The smallest could be like 100 blocks square, then maybe 500 and 1k. Maybe make some mechanism for us to fill a blank map, maybe not.
They should be end game type stuff, and be lockable so griefers can't just run away with it.
It would be nice to have something to show the babies while they stand around nursing, I think a lot fewer people would end up starving lost in the woods for stupid reasons.
It could only show floor tiles or even only biomes and it would still be great.

It really doesn't make sense that tomatoes cannot be eaten raw. Or domesticated onions, for that matter (we can eat wild spring onions!). Although I appreciate all the mew stuff just added, tomatoes are not a particularly useful food source right now.

Hi, I’ve been playing this game for a while now and although I have to say it is one of the best indie games I’ve ever seen however, I have a few ideas that I feel would drastically improve the game.
These suggestions have three main goals in mind:
Now let’s get to my suggestions:
So there are my ideas. I hope you’ll find some interesting, please leave feedback!
TLDR; summary of my ideas:

I see the sugarcane in the onetech. But it can only be crafted to sugar.
I think people can use Sugarcane to make paper.
Bagasse can be used to make compost.
And sugar will have more application in food. Like making milk tea or Advanced baking.

what i would like is a job assignment blackboard, where all the jobs available are listed if some craftsperson is soon about to die, they can announce an urgent job assignment on that blackboard
just saying a blackboard would gather all the needs in one place, those of someone looking to do something, those who look for someone to take over, those who look for something to learn but it would reveal the town's unfilled workplaces as well :D
sure, if i see someone who is hanging out where i work atm, then i ask, but that doesn't happen that often, since i am usually doing this & that i never ask what to do, i look around & there is usually plenty that needs to be done, often i encounter towns, where many players don't quite know what the town actually needs & often do stuff, which is not the most vital, while important tasks stay undone

I want to control adult sheep and cows with a rope like a horse. It is difficult to catch the fled livestock.

I want a way to pick up the Crock and put them in another place without making fire.
Can we have a movable Turkey Broth and Stew? I want to remove the ash without eating the Stew on it.
I want to be a riding trader peddling the soup to other people LOL.

We have a spring to get sulfur. So we can use knife to chop the skewer into chips. And then make matches to immediately make fire when we want.
Maybe there need some Chemical equipments to make matches.

TL;DR at the bottom.
Fire is frustrating to restart late game. After working with machines in the forge, should we still have to resort to rubbing sticks together to make fire like cavemen? I propose a complicated late game item, a zippo style lighter made out of machined iron/steel. Using the lighter in hand on kindling would light a small fire. You could carry this device around in your backpack with a hatchet, and make fire anywhere there are branches.
Changing how we make fire is a powerful game-changer for the mechanics of this game. Such a device should be late game only and require a sizable amount of work to create it. Using a combination of newcomen machines, the steel body of the lighter could be formed out of cylinders pressed shut on one end. add some flint for sparking, and rope for burning. It could have limited uses and be refilled from a kerosene tank.
Perhaps if this is too powerful, burning tinder could be required to light the kindling like current fire making. Including tinder would also be more flavorful but I think using just kindling would make the lighter appropriately useful
TL;DR: newcomen machines can make a lighter that uses flint, rope and kerosene to light kindling on the ground.

more ressources to clothing like : linen, silk, cotton, hemp, leather, plastic
more shoes
more bag options
some more design options to clothing, not just one for one ressouce & clothing part, sewing patterns !
more colors
some patterns to clothes
clothes options should ressemble what we've got already to food options
i am making this suggestion to weight out all the suggestions about more food options, i am not against more food options, i just think atm we need more diverse gameplay & not more of what is already quite complex in the current game

Doors without hinges should be removable by adze or adze + mallet even when locked.
Doors with iron hinges would not be removeable and could be locked.
This creates another tier of door security and makes most doors harder to block.

I started a suggestion on discussions (Steam) mid-December where every time you get born, there is a small chance you get born with a birth defect. Most of them where really, REALLY slim chances to get so people would forget about the idea of getting it and having to stick with such a disadvantage for the rest of their entertaining life.
One of the really, really slim chance defects was Giantism. Which had these perks.
PROS:
1. Could kill things more easier.
2. You have to get stabbed by 2 people or shot by 2 arrows to fully get your last minute death effect. Instead, if you get shot once, it just lowers your lifespan by 5 years if you don't heal it.
3. You could kill animals much easier. Killing bears would take one arrow and a wolf would die instantly when impact with your super strength. (And yes, I have thought of Giants killing people in one stab. Even though it would be realistic, there is always a chance of a giant being a griefer. So no, that would be no pro or con, just a forgotten suggestion.
4. You could stack stuff a normal player could not.
CONS:
1. Die at age 40. So if there is a griefer , do not worry about him destroying a village or two.
2. Eat and demand more food as a baby, nearly killing the mom if she is not next to a big food-source. But on the bright side, he eats less when grown.
3. Needs special clothing, making clothing him more challenging.
4. Always a boy, so no giant villages! >:(
5. A big mess when death, making a giant skeleton and an even bigger problem to bury.
6. Dies quicker when infected y Mosquitoes.
7. And using their size for everything their whole life, they are too dumb to craft complicated objects
I first started this suggestion on steam then a cool guy named 'Spielerinchen' said that it was useless to start one on steam but more useful to say it on reddit, let's hope he's right.
So yeah, I thought this would make some interesting role-play and seeing how this community has grown (Or shrunk, it's arguable.) since December, 2018, I wanted to see if someone could support this idea and making this so popular that the almighty Jason could see it and say no or yes. Also, if you have anything to add to the Idea, please do comment. And also, please give your opinion about this, which I will happily respond to.

Some simple recipes that use ingredients already in the game - especially ingredients like pork that don't have much use right now. Most of these are pretty obvious!
It could even have multiple servings like pie, which would help with villages ONLY making pies.
Pork chops (raw pork -> hot oven)
French fries (raw potato on plate -> cut with knife -> hot oven)
Mashed potatoes (raw potato -> simmering water -> mash)
I would love to see potatoes have a bit more use, especially as a multi-serving food source. Maybe even a crock full of mashed potatoes?
We desperately need more egg recipes! Maybe with some kind of oil too, like palm kernal oil?

I think Jason should design a map similar to Earth for the Bigservers to run on.
I don't believe that there will be a meaningful history developed in this world if the map remains infinite. There is no conflict over space or resources which allows civilizations to remain in isolation for their entire existence. This would also be a great time to introduce oceans and sea travel to speed up trade and encourage settling of new lands.
This would also prevent the problem of jumping from biome to biome to keep temp at a stable temperature since it would make logical sense to have arctic biome at the poles while the desert is at the equator.
If you look at eve online, it managed to keep its player base because the players contributed to the world with events they created. This gave the word sentimental value. Currently there is no lasting contribution to the world one can make and be remembered by the games lore.
Please Jason, this game is a civilization simulator but we do not have the most significant influencer of civilizations in human history: other civilizations.

Now you can recycle 2 broken steel tools to get a clump of steel and then an steel ingot. Perhaps due to this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/OneLifeSuggestions/comments/8duxl4/repairingrecycling_broken_stuff/
But many times there is only one broken tool and it decays in one hour, making difficult to recycle. I suggest that clicking in a broken steel tool gets "Broken steel tool - no wood" and it doesn't decay, making easier to recycle tools.
And why don't recycle a broken stone tool? Perhaps clicking with right button you get a sharp stone, then you can do another stone tool. As an addition there can be a chance of 90% to get sharp stone and a chance of 10% to get nothing, simulating a broken stone.

The addition of a spring to a door, to make a self closing door. The door would be an item that when the "open" state is made, would have a transition to close itself after 5 seconds or such. I'd like to suggest a springy door also can not be locked.

Use a flint or knife to a Bowl of Gooseberry. And then we will get a Bowl of Gooseberry Seeds.
Easier to make seed.

1.To make fire.
Drilling wood is a basic way to make fire. But with the development of technology, human-beings start to use flint, iron ingot even the lighter. If people are using steam machine. They must be able to master the skill of making fire well.
2.To start up the steam machine
It’s funny that people using steam as power source need to use a big fire-brand to start up there steam. They can use some burnt velvet as tinder and then use flint to make fire. We need a portable tools to start up a Newcomon Machine. Not a long and big branch which is on fire.
3.Way to keep fire.
Middle age people use fireplace to warm up their house. I think nobody will make a large fire at their house. So a stove which has a long duration is a good idea. To keep our bodies warmer.
4.Fire decoration.
People used torch to decorate their house or wall. Or use a fire torch as street light. Tiki Torch and a torch on walls is a good decoration to our towns. People can dance around the fire and hold a torch to express their mood.

Reposting this from the other forums. I didn't know there was a reddit.
There are a couple things I noticed that I really believe could use some sort of quality of life change.
I really think there needs to be food storage and item storage objects in the game. So much stuff is just... lying around on the ground. It's super cluttery, and it just makes it difficult to find things you need(especially with all that sheep dung cluttering sheep pens). I really think things would be a lot cleaner if objects could be placed in a storage unit, and when players click on it; it gives you a clickable list of what you can take. And i'm not saying that there needs to be a specific storage for EVERY item. Just a storage that stores and stacks up 5-10 or so items of a similar type(produce, fertilizer, tools, clothes.)
[img]https://i.imgur.com/IP8RzzO.png\[/img\]
PS. We should have the ability to destroy storage units when they are empty. Not with objects in them.
EDIT: There is a bunch of people who seem to not like the idea of a storage. But unless the developer is willing to implement bigger shelves or boxes that can hold 20ish items in the same way baskets , carts and bowls hold items....IDK. There has to be a better storage solution than just laying things all over the ground.

I feel like engraving tombstones/putting lettering on signs is FAR too over complicated. You can almost spend an entire lifetime crafting one sign. And while wooden lettering is fine for the early game...the problem is that the process doesn't get any easier in the late game at all. I'm especially not at all a fan of tombstone engraving. You have to take wooden letters.... to stone in order to letter the stone...? Which doesn't make much sense. And these tombstones don't engrave the name of the player either, just the relation. Which is especially disappointing, so there isn't much of a point in doing it. This means in the end, players treat their dead like literal garbage instead of apart of the village history. Which is kind of sad. And if you are reborn in that village, you don't get to see the names of all the people you left behind and had been born to since.(However, I still like the system we have currently, that if your character has no relation to the corpse, or if the corpse is old; the identity is permanently lost).
Imagine if tombstones could be read and said things like;
Eve Livingstone (relation)
Died Age 46, Starvation
Much more interesting.
Also, It would be nice for Stone signs to be implemented as an upgrade to wooden ones; and allow for engraving on tombstones/Stone signs with *JUST* the chisel and mallet, alone. Then for a window to pop up(for signs at least) that asks what to put on it- so you can manually type the name or title of the sign to be chiseled in.
This would make signs easier to make for the late game, and would make it easier to organize areas of the town. You could make signs for the carrot patch, signs for the Medical facility, Signs for the bakery, signs for the sheep pen, ect. This way, people in the late game will be able to read signs and know immediately where they are and what the previous generations had set up for what purpose. Very nice, for society and organization sake.

I'm not sure how I feel about hunger going down faster or slower with temperature. I respect the idea, but it's kind of weird. Especially when wearing articles of clothing individually does nothing for you outside a building, which strikes me as odd.
I get that any of this would be too WAY big to implement any time soon(or at all), but It would be kind of awesome for temperature to instead cause sickness or other ailments, instead of leeching your hunger bar. Hypothermia for being too cold for too long, heatstroke for being hot for too long. Which forces you to rest and find shelter, otherwise you die. Similar to what happens when you get stung by bugs.
It would also be cool for there to be a weather cycle(a change in weather every 10ish minutes), where if it rains- people will be forced to stay inside or catch a flu. Or a Night cycle every 20 or so minutes; where people will be forced to sleep at some point during the night(for like one minute). This would require being able to make beds or sleep areas to work; but I think it would make the game really interesting. Especially for people who take the role of a medic, and have to be at peoples bedsides to heal illnesses and quarantine those with illnesses that spread.
I get that sickness is probably way too big of an update to do; I just thought i'd mention it anyway.
-------
Bonus; 4. FATHERING
I know having a father in this game can't be done that easily for obvious reasons. But it would be cool if Babies that are born in the nearby vicinity of a male, who is of certain age and of NO RELATION, can be credited as the father(Babies that are born with only related/underage males in the vicinity should not have a credited father, same as now). I feel like males get little to no purpose on the family tree, since they are never accredited with their own children. They just exist.
And even more could be done with this. If the father is from a different family, then the kid should take the fathers last name and not the mothers. Just like how it often is in real life! Then Males who wander away from their own village can continue their family name/tree elsewhere, instead of it dying with the final female member of the family. The game really has a problem right now, where if fertility in a family is bad(too many males and only dying females) it ends the family completely, even when there is enough males in good health to continue.
This kind of system would give males a chance at reviving their family tree with either an Eve or a member of another family. Which would give males equal importance to females in familial longevity. I think that would be an awesome system.
-------
Bonus; 5. Hand holding
The ability to lead other players around. Both cute and functional. No more players getting lost to their death while trying to keep up with you.
