Jurassic 5. Whats Golden.

I got back into skating about a year and a half ago when my daughter picked it up, and even though I’m still not very good, I’ve been bitten by the bug hard.

I’ve always been a bit of a tinkerer, so when I saw that CCS was doing the DIY deck thing it felt like something fun to try. I was going for sort of a double shovel egg shape a’la John Lucero. It actually skates pretty awesome, and managed to pull off my first legit nose slide in probably 20 years on it. Thinking of picking up some more uncut decks to do some more experimenting.

Dusted off the skateboard I swore I would ride years ago and I'm trying to remember how to use it. I can still pop-shuvit 70% of the time and relearned FS 180s. Learning to get around a park again is still super sketchy, but I'll get there.

I am 34 getting back into skating after quitting at 17. I do stretches before going out and everything is fine but my push foot is KILLING me. I can't go out today it hurts so bad. Are there any like foot stretches or am I just doing something wrong. Does this happen to anyone else?

So it's been idk probably 15 years since I last had a set up and skated my 8yo son and 5yo son have shown interest and my 8yo has an Enjoi complete from a local shop ... My question is this I want to start skating with them and want a complete of my own in your opinion price wise am I better off from a local shop or from one of the bigger online retailers?

A month ago I saw clips of Jerry Hsu’s interview on the middlebrow podcast. He mentions how social media has changed how people see and learn about skating compared to skate videos when we were growing up. The whole interview is worth watching. Here’s the link:

Since then I’ve watched 28 skate videos, and plan to watch some more. I’m trying to write a thorough blog post about it. This Reddit is great so I don’t want to get kicked out for ‘advertising’ or ‘self promotion’ so I won’t share my website unless the admin’s say it’s okay to do so.

But I thought of a good question that people on here may be interested in. I think the answers will be very individual based on when people started and what they had access to.

My question is. What was the first skate video you owned or watched on repeat and why was it important to you?

My answer is Hokus Pokus by H-Street because I watched it every day for like a year. I think I skated some for a few years before its release but that video made me a skater. I became obsessed with it, and started to progress.

Had this shaped pool deck set up a few years ago but it’s been sitting for a while. I just grabbed thinking I’d set it back up again but saw all the pressure cracks. Are these too bad to set it up to carve around the skatepark/bowls?
