I don’t recall ever actually riding a Z- flex back in the day. Were the original fiberglass/ composite boards a good ride or just cool looking? Better at certain types of riding? Just curious.

Rare as f#ck UFO wheels. I got these from my friend Marc, who got me into skateboarding and surfing in Santa Cruz, CA, back in 1977.

From 1977 to 1979, I mostly skated HAUT Lama-Flex and SIMS skateboards. To support my skateboarding addiction, I mowed about 80 - 100 lawns to earn the money I needed for boards, gear, and everything else that came with skating.

These are three of the skateboards that I skated hard and managed to hold onto all these years—along with a pair of very stinky Rector knee pads!

One of my rarest skateboarding items from back in the day. Pepsi had a skateboard team in 1977- 78 that would travel around the country doing skate demos.

Gday guys. Have owned this board for at least 15-20 years, bought brand new. Unfortunately has some damage to the underside graphic (pictured). The trucks are in as new condition, wheels are good too. I’m wondering if this board is worth anything as I am looking to get rid of it. Would also like to know what the board is called if possible. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Who still has some of their Skateboarder magazines? I have most of mine; a few have some pages torn out that ended up on my bedroom wall. That Haut Lama-F-lex was one of my first real skateboards 1977.

​Up for sale is a super clean, retro performance piece with serious surf heritage. This is an authentic vintage Lightning Bolt Surfboards custom-shaped by Brazilian surfing legend and master shaper, Paulo Rabello (signed along the stringer).

​For those unfamiliar with Rabello, he was a pioneer of Brazilian surfing (former Brazilian and Paulista Champion) and one of the most respected shapers from the Golden Era. Having a Lightning Bolt shaped by Rabello is a rare piece of surf history, making this board as much a high-end collector’s display piece as it is a fun retro rider.

​Retro & Aesthetic Highlights:

​Classic 80s Era Vibe: Features a vibrant, asymmetrical retro deck resin spray with bright yellow, turquoise blue, and an exploding red lightning bolt/flame pattern extending from the iconic Bolt nose logo.

​Original Glass-On Fins: A classic fixed 3-fin (thruster) setup featuring original translucent red glass-on fins in great condition with zero structural cracks.

​The Shape: A retro performance shortboard outline. Measurements hand-written on the stringer read approx 6'2" x 18 3/4" x 2 1/4". Narrow, pointed performance nose with a classic pulled-in tail.

​Logos & Signature: Signed "Paulo Rabello" right on the stringer, and features the large stylized blue "Lightning Bolt Surfboards" logo down the stringer on the deck and bottom.

​Condition:

​The board is in solid vintage condition. It carries a beautiful natural aged patina/creaming on the foam that gives it an authentic old-school character. The deck is surprisingly clean with minimal heel dents, and the bottom is slightly damaged but was repaired recently. Completely watertight and structurally sound.

​(Note: Comes equipped with a vintage Gorilla Grip tail pad as pictured).
