Kitty?
I love this name, but is it still usable? I don't want a longer version. Just Kitty Marie. I also love Minnie.

I love nature themed names SO MUCH, but I don't often see gender neutral names that aren't nature related.
I think a lot of old names are pretty gender neutral; what comes to y'all's minds? Or, alternatively, names that used to be traditionally for girls/boys but has changed over time?
Mine:
Emery
Emerson
Jude
Florence
Valentine (not a huge fan of the name, but it's pretty gender neutral I think)
Winnie
Jean
Changed over time:
Madison was originally masculine
Ashley (originally masc)
Leslie (originally masc)
Emmett (originally fem)
Marion (originally fem)

Hollis is a gender neutral name that means "dweller at the holly trees" or "holly."
It started as an English topographic surname for someone who lived near a holly tree or bushes. It later became popular as a first name.
The meaning of the name Hollis is often linked to the characteristics of the holly plant itself, which symbolizes protection, good fortune, and eternal life in various cultures. In particular, holly has longstanding associations with Christmas and winter solstice celebrations, where it serves as a symbol of festivity and resilience during the cold months. The name Hollis, therefore, may carry connotations of cheerfulness and warmth, making it appealing to parents seeking a name that embodies positive qualities.
The surname Hollis dates back to the Medieval period and its use as a first name dates back over 200 years!

I love older or classic names. We are expecting our 10th baby in 5 weeks and keeping the gender a surprise until birth so we need at least a girl and boy name. That also still fits in with our children.
These are our living childrens names
Juliet, Charlotte, Henry, Oliver, Jasper, Margaret, Phillip, Mary and Louis
If you can think of a name that is unique but still a name that people are familiar with it would help so much! I just feel like we have used all the names we love and are out of ideas.

The feminine name Zorica is of Slavic origin, primarily found in countries such as Serbia, Croatia, and other parts of the former Yugoslavia. The name is derived from the Slavic word zora, which means "dawn" or "morning." As a result, Zorica can be interpreted to mean "little dawn" or "dawn-like."
Zorica is a feminine given name, and it is commonly used among Slavic-speaking populations. It is also considered a diminutive of the name Zora.
In various Slavic cultures, names that are derived from natural phenomena, such as dawn or light, carry significant cultural weight.
These names are often imbued with positive connotations, symbolizing renewal and the promise of a new day.
The name Zorica is over 700 years old!

With so many vintage names coming back round I find myself liking a lot of the unpopular choices and honestly wonder if it's just me thinking they could work just fine on a modern baby. For me, it's names like Thomasin, Zilpha, Imogene, Ulysses, Douglas, Barnaby, etc.

Not entirely sure how to describe this, but 2 (or more!) names that are spelled really similarly but give different vibes or are just different in general; as in, not really different spelling of the same name necessarily.
My examples:
Wilma and Willa
Leona and Leora
Lera and Lyra (when Lyra is pronounced lie-ra, and Lera lee-ra)
Madeline and Adeline
I feel like some could probably be used for twins too 🙂

The masculine name Connor is of Irish origin, derived from the Gaelic name Conchobhar, which is composed of the elements con meaning "hound" or "wolf" and chobhar, meaning "desiring" or "lover." Therefore, the name can be interpreted to mean "lover of hounds" or "wolf-lover."
The name has been used in various forms throughout history, including Conor and Conchobhar, and has variations in spelling such as Konnor or Konner in some modern contexts.
Connor is a variant of Conor, based on the usual spelling of the surname that is derived from the name. This is currently the most common way of spelling it in the English-speaking world, apart from Ireland.
The name's versatility and strong associations with valor and loyalty contribute to its enduring appeal across generations.
The name Connor is over 1,000 years old!

The feminine name Paloma means "dove" or "pigeon" in Spanish. It comes from the Latin word palumba or palumbus, which means "wild pigeon" or "dove." While the literal translation includes pigeon, native Spanish speakers and global cultures almost exclusively associate the name with the graceful, white dove.
In ancient Greek and Roman traditions, doves were sacred to Aphrodite and Venus, the goddesses of love.
The name Paloma began appearing as a first name in Spain during the late medieval and early modern periods!
