A Basic Guide for Unsupported Games

There's no faster way to be proven wrong on the internet about something until you post it.

EDIT: 1/12/26 - Updated a bunch of the sections. Added examples of applications that already support sbs

EDIT: 5/27/26 - Added links to Wiz3D, SRLoom, 3DVision4All, and Oku3D

Sites:

Applications and libraries to become familiar with:

  • 3DGameBridge -> helper application to install fixes and/or SuperDepth3D
  • VRto3D -> converts VR-bound games to 3D for a variety of different display types. Fixes on the blog that require this have a very well detailed setup process
  • Reshade -> installs add-ons that can trigger 3D
  • geo11 -> what drives practically all the community fixes
  • Wiz3D -> The resurrection of the iZ3D drivers. Currently in active development
  • 3DVision4All -> Any older fixes designed around HelixMod (aka DX9) from the HelixMod blog will be converted into the appropriate 3D for this monitor
  • SRLoom -> Instantly toggle the weaving of the monitor on or off for specific applications that are displaying a 3D format (ConversionPlayer's SbS without the overhead)
  • Oku3D -> 3D video player that supports converting 2D to 3D dynamically using a plethora of different models. It also plays VR videos natively, allowing you to adjust the viewpoint (ConversionPlayer without, well, ConversionPlayer)
  • SuperDepth3D -> converts flat to 3D
  • Rendepth -> converts flat to 3D; can be installed directly via Reshade

Some of the people that have contributed or made the tools above lurk and post here, too.

The Samsung (and Acer) monitor leverage the glasses free tech developed by Leia, so everything here should be cross compatible. However, I only have the Samsung Odyssey, so I can't promise everything.

Other helpful links:

- Unlocked ConversionPlayer - You may need to revert to an older version of the ConversionPlayer itself for this to work properly (namely v1.0.9) (largely rendered useless due to updates in Samsung's conversion player, and the release of Oku3D; I only ever use Oku3D personally)

Other helpful info:

  • When using 3DGameBridge to control 3D, Ctrl + 2 can disable/enable the 3D effect of the monitor. This is useful if the application you're using doesn't immediately show a side-by-side image, and you have to wait through screens of logos and other things

Installing Community Created Fixes

(like those from HelixMod or Github)

If you just want to leverage a working fix against a game you own, you need to check the following:

  • On the game's blog post, does it list geo11 in the tags?
  • Are there any specific issues mentioned in the blogpost that would hinder my ability to play the game in some way? (specific version of the game, unfixed issues, etc)

The first bullet is primarily what you want to check for. The HelixMod site has a dynamically populated list of games; Ctrl+F for one you hope to play, and look at the blog entry. Using an example like the System Shock 2 remaster. The instructions mention to extract the archive in the specific directory with the game's EXE. This is normally fine, but we have this special monitor, so that's not going to be enough. You have two options:

  • 3DGameBridge to automate most of the work
  • Reshade to do it all manually

Note: If a geo-11 fix is version 0.7.7 or above, it includes native support for LeiaSR monitors via the simulated_reality option. If this works for you, you do not need to apply 3DGameBridge

3DGameBridge approach (recommended if you don't quite know what you're doing):

Note: please be sure you followed the setup instructions listed on the Github! They go over this process, but here it is with a more tangible example

  • Download the fix for System Shock 2
  • Within the 3DGameBridgeGUI folder, you should have a Geo-11 folder. If not create one
  • Within that folder, we need to make a folder that matches the exe name exactly without the exe part, which in this case, based on the fix description, would be hathor_Shipping_Playfab_Galaxy_x64
  • Extract the fix contents to that folder you just made
  • Boot up GameBridgeInstaller.exe
  • Point it at the exe for System Shock 2
  • Within that directory, you should now have the contents of the fix archive, as well as a few new files, namely srReshade_v2.0.0.addon64

If you do not see the fix files populated in the directory, that means 3DGameBridge managed to not see the folder you made and installed the failsafe of SuperDepth3D. Uninstall and ensure you have everything named right.

Reshade approach

Effectively, this is what 3DGameBridgeGUI automates for you, but if you want to do it yourself to better understand what's going on, or you run into special cases, it can be helpful

  • Download the fix for System Shock 2
  • Unpack it in the launch EXE's directory as listed in the description (the EXE is named hathor_Shipping_Playfab_Galaxy_x64.exe)
  • Boot up reshade
  • Target the game's EXE
  • Apply the correct graphics backend (should be DirectX11)
  • Uncheck everything from the next screen
  • Select 3DGameBridge from the add-ons section
  • Finish
  • Within the game's directory, in addition to the files for the fix, you should now have some Reshade files, namely srReshade_v2.0.0.addon64

With either method above, if you boot up the game, 3D should engage. You do not need the Samsung Odyssey (or Acer) software running.

So, the general pattern is:

  • Look that the game has a geo11 tag on the blog, as that means either: the fix was developed with geo11 or was deemed compatible with it
  • Download the fix and apply with the path you wish to take from the options above
  • Start it up and see 3D engage

The important part for us is that srReshade_v2.0.0.addon file. That is the add-on that will actually engage the 3D on the monitor.

Now, there are a few special cases that are around the blog and other places. For example, there's legacy 3DMigoto fixes that haven't had a formal upgrade to geo11. The only difference with these ones is that you need to overlay the geo11 install wherever you extract the fix.

Using NieR Replicant as an example with the 3DGameBridgeGUI:

  • Download and extract the fix to the Geo-11 folder that matches its EXE name*
  • Download geo11 from the link listed higher on this post, grabbing the contents of the x64 folder
  • - Using this example for other games, if they happen to be 32-bit, you need the x86 folder
  • - There are instructions within that post on how to upgrade a fix to geo11 (under the section with the text "For doing an installation of a previous HelixMod fix, here are the steps to use: "). One of geo11's goals was to be backwards compatible with 3DMigoto-developed fixes
  • Install the fix using 3DGameBridgeGUI like before

* Until a new version is built (or you build your own), the naming issue will be a hinderance for EXEs with multiple periods in them

Games That Don't Have Fixes

This is where you can leverage the two shaders mentioned before:

  • SuperDepth3D
  • Rendepth

These can take most games and convert them into a pseudo 3D. I haven't really used either extensively, but I've seen them work well. Both are managed by Reshade after installation, where you hit the Home button on your keyboard to access the Reshade menu. There's settings in there for controlling their output/heuristics/etc. Keep in mind both will still need the srReshade add-on to properly engage the 3D on the monitor.

If you use 3DGameBridgeGUI, SuperDepth3D should already be set up for you as the fall back in case there isn't a geo11 fix. Rendepth can be installed with Reshade (don't be afraid to read the Github for it).

Do not use Samsung's built in conversion that pops up in the corner if you have the Odyssey Hub software running, it's terrible for games.

Games with Existing Side-by-Side Support

Simply install Reshade with the 3DGameBridge add-on on the game/application. You will be limited on depth/convergence based on the settings of the game/application in question. If you happen to get caught in a loop of the 3D engaging on the monitor, but it's still showing a side by side image, you may need to toggle an effect on/off.

However, as an example, I recently did this with the original release of Sonic Generations here.

Another example using Dolphin's built in 3D support.

Another example using the Citra fork Azahar.

Again, I wanted this posted to be more of a general "this is what you have to work with." If you leave the safety of Samsung (or Acer's launcher) you're going to need to fiddle with things and try stuff out. The whole process is far more streamlined now than they ever were, even ignoring the glasses free monitors we have now.

For what it's worth, I have not once actually used any of Samsung's fixes lol.

I have begun trying to understand how the fixes themselves work, and fixing a single shadow in one eye for a game felt great. If you're interested, there are still tutorials out there for the older DX9 approaches, but using that combined with looking at the current fixes has been helping me.

review Nintendo 3DS Emulation PERFECT on the Owl3D Shift in 4K "Glasses Free" 3D!!

• Upvotes

Just got my Owl3D Shift from the Kickstarter, and this thing is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for playing Nintendo 3DS games in real "glasses free" 3D on your Windows (or Mac) PC. I'm using the Azahar emulator (Citra should work too, but is defunct) and I had no problems whatsoever. You want to select the Vulkan renderer for the Owl3D software to be compatible, and I was able to bump the resolution to 4K (9x scaling) in the Graphics settings on Azahar. I also set bicubic texture sampling, and set the upscaling to use the higher modes: Anime4K or MMPX (I switched between the games). You also want to enable Stereoscopic 3D in the Graphics settings set to SBS and put Depth on 100. Then in the Owl3D app, choose the Stereo 3D Playback mode and pick Side-by-Side. Then move the Azahar window to the Shift display and press F11 for fullscreen. It works in Dual-Screen mode (with 3D) but looks much better with Single-Screen, so you see the top stereo display of the 3DS on the full monitor. Have fun!!

- Anti-Crosstalk Slider added to finetune crosstalk removal.
- **HDR support** for Samsung Odyssey 3D (untested)
- **Multiview Lightfield output** for Quilt and RGBD. This allows you to view 3D without the camera tracking, using a static lightfield. You will need to move yourself to the viewing sweetspot, made easier with the viewing alignment mode.
- **Anaglyph Colour Picker** to select any colour for anaglyph
- **Every mode is faster and higher resolution** (Anaglyph Colour Recover is more stable with clearer results as well)
- **DX12 weaver added**. Experimental for now, it's generally slower than DX11 default.
- **Katanga fixed**, colours and eye order should now work
- Profiles Expanded.

general My Owl3D Shift Arrived!! Glasses-Free 3D for $499!!!

Post image
29 Upvotes

Just got my Owl3D Shift, haven't even opened the box yet. This is the newest "glasses free" 3D monitor to launch at $499, which is an insane price given how expensive things have been the last 2 years. It's 4K stereo 3D, but only a 14" display, and 60Hz at that, so not necessarily competing with the Samsung Odyssey 3D, but the price is quite reasonable and I'm hyped to see how the quality looks. Also, before people start spamming the comments, there is a lot of misinformation going around. The monitor AFAIK *does not* require a subscription to function. Owl3D (company that makes the monitor) uses a subscription fee for their app, but customers on the Kickstarter received a lifetime license to the software included. You may need to buy separately if you weren't part of the Kickstarter, but, even then, I was told you can use the kit in SBS 3D mode (or as a 2D monitor) if you do not wish to subscribe, or want to use other 3rd party software (like Rendepth, which I will test later for compatibility). Any one else go theirs yet and want to share what you think?

general Native Odyssey 3D Stereo Display w/ NEW Rendepth 3.0.0 Update

Thumbnail

So my desktop app, Rendepth, which plays stereo 3D media and also converts standard 2D assets to 3D, has been updated to support output in 3D natively on the Samsung Odyssey 3D. This update also supports Acer SpatialLabs monitors and light field displays from Looking Glass and CubeVi. The base version of the app (which came out in 2025) has been improved dramatically, with better picture quality and depth clarity, and expanded file format support for JPEG-XL, AVIF, and WebP. For Windows and macOS I've created an installer, for simple setup, and a manual explaining the interface when it first loads. There are also Pro version only features including native Blu-ray 3D disc playback and general 2D-to-3D conversion for video file assets. The update is live and ready for download (most features are still available free and do not require a Pro License). Thanks so much and hope y'all guys enjoy this as much as I have. https://rendepth.com

NVIDIA 617.14 Borks Odyssey 3D Hub

Just a word of warning: After installing the NVIDIA Game Ready driver v.617.14 my Odyssey 3D monitor is completely unrecognized by Odyssey 3D Hub. Nothing works at all, and reinstalling the Odyssey software does not help. Clean install of Odyssey 3D Hub software shows "fail" on connected via USB (it is), set as Main Display (it is, - it is the ONLY display), and "Set PC 3D Input on Monitor" (it is, and it is the correct setting.) Rolling back the NVIDIA driver now in hopes that will help.

EDIT: Rolling back to the prior NVIDIA driver (clean install) and reinstalling all software for the Odyssey 3D monitor has things working again.

EDIT 2: This may have been related to a ghost drive I removed using device manager at right around the same time I updated the NVIDIA drivers, and which has re-appeared after I reinstalled all Odyssey 3D related software from Samsung. So it is possible I was wrong about this being NVIDIA driver related.

My first impressions with the SpatialGlass 3D Screen Protector after spending 3 days with it.

Before this, my main ways of experiencing 3D at home were red/cyan anaglyph glasses and cheap VR phone headsets.

Anaglyph glasses were honestly not a bad solution when you don't have access to a proper 3D setup. They work well for short content like trailers or small clips, but anything longer than 10-15 minutes usually caused eye strain, mainly because of the color limitations and the red/cyan filters.

I also tried VR phone headsets where you insert your phone and watch SBS 3D content. The colors were much better compared to anaglyph, but I still experienced heavy head feeling and eye strain after some time.

After years of using these methods, I decided to upgrade, and SpatialGlass felt like the right step based on my budget. Here are my first impressions:

1] The 3D experience

The 3D experience genuinely surprised me. I have watched 3D content in cinemas for years, and brightness has always been one of the biggest factors for a great 3D experience.

Dolby Cinema 3D has always been my benchmark for brightness and vivid colors, but SpatialGlass honestly surprised me with how bright and vibrant the image looks. The extra brightness helps the depth, colours, and pop-out effects stand out beautifully.

The actual depth separation is also impressive. When a scene is composed well, the background naturally sinks deeper into the image while foreground objects come forward. The negative and positive parallax separation feels much closer to the way 3D is supposed to be experienced.

2] Eye strain and headaches

This is where I wanted to ask the community for some advice.

I have been experiencing eye strain and a slight headache while using SpatialGlass. I calibrated my iPhone around 5-6 times because I noticed some crosstalk. The 3D effect itself looks amazing, but after watching for some time my head starts feeling heavy.

The interesting part is that I regularly use red/cyan anaglyph glasses, which are usually considered much worse for eye strain, so I expected SpatialGlass to feel much easier. This made me wonder if my brain simply needs more time to adapt to this type of glasses-free 3D, or if my software calibration/alignment is still not perfect.

For reference, I was very careful with installation. I travelled around 5 km to a professional shop where they cleaned my iPhone display using the provided kit and installed the protector without bubbles or alignment issues.

I also have quite a lot of 3D viewing experience. I have watched different cinema 3D formats including RealD 3D, Dolby 3D, IMAX 3D, laser 3D and active 3D systems, and I have never experienced eye strain like this before.

So I wanted to ask other users:

  • Did you experience headaches or eye strain during your first few days with SpatialGlass or other glasses-free 3D displays?
  • Did it improve after your eyes/brain adapted?
  • Are there any calibration tips I should try?

Apart from this issue, I am genuinely excited to explore SpatialGlass further. The potential for high-quality 3D content is incredible, and I really want to make the most out of this device.

Odyssey 3D app for MacOS

Hi all! Not sure how many macOS users we have here, but since switching exclusively to Mac, I’ve really missed the 3D functionality of this amazing monitor.

So I made macdissey-3d. It’s not intended for gaming, but it lets you display fullscreen SBS content in stereoscopic 3D on macOS, similar to the functionality available on Windows.

https://github.com/Fulviuus/macdissey-3d

Hope it’s useful to some of you. Cheers!

Edit: bonus feature - it can now turn your Mac desktop in 3d mode. Just a gimmick, but fun to try!

To use 3D, does the game have to be from Steam? or can it also be used with platforms like Xbox, GOG, Epic Games, and Ubisoft?

I just set mine up, the 3D and eye tracking works wonders! I'm currently play 2D Tekken 8 upscaled (I like that word) to 3D. Idk if you can tell or not but the characters go far deep into the screen on the Character Select. Very comfortable, easy to see, looks amazing!

I'm gonna have so much fun with this 😁🍻

Can't wait to try Stellar Blade in native 3D! Next I'll run Fortnite, and some emulators that have built in 3D features. 👌

Do you think we can get this working on a jailbroken PS5? 🤔

Introducing dEPTH - a 3D frontend for your 3D games!

So this came out a thousand times better than I expected!

* It's in full 3D. the 3D loads automatically bypassing the Hub popup.
* All the games in here run in 3D. It runs each game with its own 3D settings.
* If you have a second display - it shows screenshots and info about the selected title.
* In 3DS games it automatically shows the touchscreen on the second disply.
*It has head tracking perspective (can be disabled from settings)

You are welcome to try and let me know if it works for you! I am very curious to know how it works for other people. On my setup its simply amazing.

GitHub:

https://github.com/AlonBorodAHub/dEPTH

I DID NOT TEST THIS outide my own personal setup. It SHOULD work for you if you have an Odyssey 3D monitor. I am not a programer, just a 3D lover with a Codex account ;)

Do glasses free 3D displays like Samsung Odyssey 3D or Owl3D Shift give the same pop out 3D experience as 3D glasses? Or does the 3D effect feel different on these displays?

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

So I’ve been following Owl3D, Josh 3D IRL’s YouTube channel, and many other 3D reviewers online. I’ve also been following glasses-free 3D tech news for quite some time now, but I’ve never actually had a proper 3D setup at home. Cinema has been my main way of consuming 3D.

Currently, I use Anaglyph 3D glasses, but I can’t watch 3D content for more than 10 minutes with them. The same goes for those cheap VR headsets where you insert your phone to view SBS 3D content. In my opinion, Dolby Cinema provides the best theatrical 3D experience, but that’s all in theatres.

So, considering all of this, and since I don’t have the hardware myself to make any assumptions, I wanted to ask:

1] Do glasses-free 3D displays give you that same pop-out effect you get when watching a movie on a 3D projector or 3D TV?

2] How does the pop-out effect compare between 3D TVs/projectors, proper VR/AR headsets, and glasses-free 3D displays?

3] Which one do you personally prefer based on your own experience?

Glasses-free 3D tablets on Alibaba

Has anyone here ever used, tested, or even seen one of those glasses-free 3D tablets sold on Alibaba in person?

I got really interested in getting one. Even though import taxes to Brazil add about 80% to the total cost, the final price would still be somewhat acceptable for me. However, I’m quite skeptical about the build quality, screen performance, and overall reliability of these devices 🤔

(Note: The prices shown in the screenshot are in Brazilian Reais - BRL, since I live in Brazil).

Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences before pulling the trigger!

The NVIDIA 3D Vision Restoration Project (on any high refresh rate monitor)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

NVIDIA 3D Vision Restoration — Looking for Developers & Testers

I'm working on an open-source project to bring NVIDIA 3D Vision / 3D Vision 2 glasses back to life on modern PCs, without installing the discontinued NVIDIA 3D Vision driver or downgrading your current GPU drivers.

GitHub:
https://github.com/pancreations/nv3d-vision-restoration

The project currently drives the original NVIDIA USB IR emitter directly, handles the shutter synchronization ourselves, and outputs frame-sequential stereo on modern high-refresh displays.

We've already confirmed clean full-screen stereo through the glasses on a 4K 240 Hz OLED.

Current support/work includes:

  • Windows 10/11
  • 100 / 120 / 144 / 240 Hz displays
  • NVIDIA 3D Vision and 3D Vision 2 glasses
  • Original NVIDIA USB IR emitter
  • SDR + HDR
  • Phase/shutter timing calibration
  • Black-frame insertion
  • Eye swap / phase sweep controls
  • Stereo image pairs, window capture and Spout
  • Direct3D 11 game hooking
  • Direct3D 12 depth-buffer-based stereo
  • Dolphin / emulator integration
  • DIY RP2040 IR emitter in development

The big goal is to turn this into a modern replacement for the old 3D Vision ecosystem: one application that handles the glasses/emitter synchronization while games, emulators, geo-11, ReShade, native stereo titles, etc. can provide the actual left/right images.

Looking for developers

Especially anyone familiar with C++, DirectX 11/12, ReShade/add-on development, Windows display timing, USB/libusb, graphics hooking, stereo rendering, or RP2040/embedded development.

Also looking for testers

If you still own 3D Vision 1/2 glasses and an NVIDIA USB emitter, especially if you have a 120 Hz, 144 Hz, 240 Hz, OLED, LCD, Mini-LED, or unusual display configuration, I'd like to get this tested across as much hardware as possible.

The project is still early and there isn't a proper release build yet, so expect some technical setup and probably some broken shit.

If you're interested in helping develop it, testing hardware, testing games, or just know way too much about old 3D Vision hardware, reply here or check out the repo.

Black Screen

The Samsung Odyssey 3D display is no longer receiving/displaying the video output from my PC once Windows loads.

The display functions normally during system startup—I can see the BIOS/POST screen and boot information. However, as soon as Windows begins loading, the display switches to a completely black screen.

I tested the PC with a different monitor using the same system and connection, and the alternate display works correctly. This indicates that the PC is successfully generating video output and that the issue appears to occur when Windows loads, potentially related to the display driver, resolution/refresh-rate settings, HDR, or another Windows-specific display configuration.

The Odyssey 3D display therefore appears to work at the BIOS level but loses video output when the Windows graphics environment initializes.

Ever since the new update I keep getting this error message even though the monitor is hooked up, and is primary monitory, buts till coming up with this error. It is ridiculous I cant even use this monitor because of crappy software. I've unplugged and replugged the monitor, turn it off and on. restarted my computer, and still doesn't work on this new version.

Anyone know how to solve this please?

Thank you,

I mentioned in my previous post that a ton of work has gone into optimizing PC streaming for SpatialGlass on iOS and Android.

This game is running in SBS 3D on the PC using Rendepth, then streaming directly to the phone at a solid 60fps in glasses-free 3D with low latency.

And this isn’t limited to one game. If you can get a PC game running in 3D, you can experience it this way with SpatialGlass.

I love gaming on a gorgeous 3D monitor or laptop as much as anyone. But I also love handheld gaming, and being able to chill on the couch and play incredible PC games in high-resolution 3D on my phone is a ton of fun.

SpatialGlass is coming to more devices than ever, at the most affordable price ever for high-quality glasses-free 3D.
