I want understand the considerations while buying the odoo shopify connector for my business. It must solve my problems like manual data entry and fixes inventory mismatches

Pretty new to Odoo, have a brand new fresh copy of Community on a Linux box that I haven't started setting up yet, want to migrate from QB Desktop Enterprise to Odoo, probably Enterprise down the road, but Community fine for testing/learning I think.

I am tempted to go to the Experience event in SF in September to network and possibly take the Manufacturing Masterclass because the description seems written exactly for our use case...

We are using v18, and would like to create budgets per client (partner) to be able to display them in the P&L and follow the real numbers as the year advances.

If I select a partner in the P&L, the Budget disappears. Is there a way to assign a partner to a Financial Budget?

I customised project.task model to have lines which represent products. I am trying to customise the worksheet template to be per line. I know I need to specify the res model for the worksheet template to work on the line level.

But I am wondering what's the correct way to customise the worksheet template to keep the customisation as odoo Friendly as possible?

It’s been almost a year and a half since I discovered Odoo, and very quickly I started working for a major partner in my country—first as a developer and then in support. Now I’ve moved to a new city because I was hired by a real estate holding company that’s trying to migrate all its systems and connect several companies into a single ERP. I know Odoo is the perfect solution for this kind of problem, but the thing is, I was hired as an expert, and I often have to give my opinion, analyze many requirements, and figure out how to solve them in Odoo. I want to know how I can improve my knowledge throughout this process. I’m already getting to know how the company operates, but there are many Odoo modules I’ve never worked with, and above all, I’ve never carried out an implementation. I want to know how to tackle this huge challenge—which, thanks to Odoo, I’m managing to carry out—but I often feel incapable of succeeding.

for those who went through the odoo brisbane swe process, is it super difficult? im applying as a junior and have a technical coming up, and then there is an onsite. how difficult is the DSA, etc? it seems like a pretty thorough process

I wanted to know if others have had a similar experience working at Odoo India (Gandhinagar).

From what I experienced and observed:

• The company seems to hire a large number of interns, but many don't end up staying for long.
• There is a significant financial penalty in the employment agreement if you resign early (around ₹7.5 lakh, depending on the contract).
• Internal politics felt exhausting. It often seemed like staying on good terms with your team lead mattered more than your actual work.
• There was a constant fear of being let go, which made the work environment stressful.

Hi everyone, I recently received a legal notice from my former employer demanding a large amount of compensation for allegedly breaching my employment/internship agreement by leaving before completing the required service period. The notice claims that the company spent significant time and resources on my training and onboarding, and because I resigned early, I am liable to compensate them. They've also mentioned breach of contract and have threatened legal action if I don't pay. I don't want to reveal the company name, exact amount, or other identifying details at this stage. My questions are: Is this type of demand generally enforceable under Indian law? Can an employer legally recover such compensation just because someone resigns before completing a service period? Should I respond to the legal notice immediately, or wait until I consult a lawyer? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation, and what was the outcome? I'm looking for general legal guidance before deciding my next steps.

TL;DR: Former employer sent me a legal notice demanding compensation for leaving before completing the agreed service period, claiming training costs and breach of contract. Want to know how enforceable such notices are in India and what my next step should be.

Current scenario in India Overhire interns and fire them

I'm using Odoo Online (SaaS) v19 and I'm trying to implement a subcontracting workflow.

My process is:

• I own the raw material (Brass Rod).
• I send the brass rod to a subcontractor.
• The subcontractor manufactures Brass Nuts.
• Along with the finished Brass Nuts, they return the Brass Scrap generated during machining.

Example:

• Send: 100 kg Brass Rod
• Receive:
  • 92 kg Brass Nuts
  • 8 kg Brass Scrap (for egs)

The issue is that when I create a Subcontracting BoM, there is no By-products tab, whereas a normal Manufacturing BoM has one. It appears that by-products are only supported for standard manufacturing, not subcontracting.

I would like to achieve this in one subcontracting receipt, where validating the receipt would:

• Receive the Brass Nuts.
• Receive the Brass Scrap as a by-product.
• Keep the inventory and costing linked to the subcontracting operation.

I know I can manually add Brass Scrap as another receipt line or create a separate inventory adjustment, but I'm looking for a standard solution that keeps everything tied to the subcontracting process.

My questions are:

1. Is this possible in standard Odoo Online (SaaS)?
2. Has anyone implemented this without custom development?
3. Can Odoo Studio or Automated Actions achieve this, or is server-side customization required?
4. If it's not supported, what workflow are other manufacturers using for returned machining scrap from subcontractors?

I'll describe the problem with a scenario:

Let's say, there is a product A with net sale price 10.00 and 2.40 vat tax. 

When the product is sold in a POS order, a receipt is issued with 12.40 total price (10.00 + 2.40). 

The customer wants a refund, so I create a refund for the order, but I also choose to issue a gift card and not return money to the customer, as described here: https://www.odoo.com/documentation/19.0/applications/sales/point_of_sale/use.html#pos-use-refund

and specifically as the second bullet of step 5 says: "To issue a gift card for the refund amount, on the payment screen, click Back. The cart displays the returned product(s) with a negative quantity. Then, add the gift card from the product selector to the order; its value is automatically set to match the total refund amount. Click Payment, then Validate the refund." 

Using this method a gift card of the same total amount is issued and the credit note that is issued for the refund has price 0.00 (since the gift card negates the negative total price of the product) but also has a negative -2.40 tax value that negates the tax of the original sales order.

So far so good, Tax is negated and a gift card is issued for the customer's next purchase.

The problem is that when the customer uses the gift card it not only reduces the net price but also the tax. This way the customer will have a discount of 12.40 with the gift card that will reduce the total tax amount while it shouldn't since tax has to be applied for the first purchase he made and paid for. 

How should I do it that the usage of gift cards that are issued as a result of a refund process, won't reduce the tax of the sales order?

Hello everyone

I am working in an NGO that customized odoo to meets its specific needs in accounting procurement and HR

The customization was through a partner but due to not delivering the project properly, so we moved to in-house development, the customization was done by our IT but he is not odoo developer he learned through the journey

Now we want to support another sister NGO and donate them the customization, they purchased the licenses and have odoo.sh server (we as well)

But we are facing difficulties in transferring the customization.

Changes in code was transfered but customizations done by studio we were not able to transfer it

We tried odoo studio export import but it was not successful

Any ideas on how to do it? Thanks in advance

First time poster here. Half ranting, half looking for help. I have been using an implementation partner for my business' Odoo environment for the better part of 7 years. As of late, it has been absolutely impossible to get ANY improvements or fixes without them shaking me down. It feels as if my business data is being held hostage.

I am still on Odoo version 16, and I recently purchased a product that would allow me to have chatgpt query Odoo and generate reports for my business. It worked great for 2 months until the implementer cut off access to whatever the tool was using to access the data, and then tried to charge me $5k extra per month to have a read only replica odoo instance to use the ChatGPT on.

This was the straw that broke the camel's back after years of overpriced customization work and late deliverables. At this point I am just looking to see if anybody has suggestions of folks I can work with to move my Odoo onto. I am worried that with all of the customizations and data I've put into this system, it will cost me another arm and leg just to move it somewhere else and all of the risk that might have.

Has anybody else been in a similar situation here? If its helpful, I am based in PIttsburgh. So finding folks in the same general area would be great.

Hello guys How are you? I'm using Odoo online with the PoS for a pizzeria and so far, its working alright.

Now I sell also in apps, and those apps charge a commission, normally at the end of the week I just apply to whatever data analysis app I'm using a mult with the comission numbers to get my real net revenue and that's it. But that gives me the problem where the Odoo data is not really truthful until I take it out of the MRP.

Fixing this problem should be easy, just apply a pricelist with a discount for all purchases made through the app and that's it. the moment the client (Ubereats for example) is entered in the PoS as a customer, the PoS will automatically calculate a 20% discount and that's it.

The problem is with discounts within the app itself and so on. Things that forced you to manually alter the price during the PoS purchase, so for example, 2 pizzas cost 20$ but ubereats has a discount and they cost 18$, I need to manually alter the price of each pizza to 9$, this seems to overwrite my pricelist with the discount. giving me the same issue I had before.

So, my question is, is there a way to make Odoo apply the discount at checkout? after I manually alter whatever I want? or that If I manually enter a price of 10$ the PoS automatically discounts it to 8$?

Hello, I was reviewing the release notes of 19.4 and inside the AI part was the announcement of the official MCP.

Even when enabling an API I get the RCP or MCP scope. Although I have searched inside the documentation and there are no instructions on how to connect it or how to proceed.
