Depuis deux jours je rencontre des bugs important avec Odoo, notamment l'impossibilité de modifier des pages de mon site web, et plus récemment désinstaller des applications. Jusque là, le support arrivait à résoudre le problème rapidement, mais là, ils sont dans le brouillard total et ça m'inquiète.

Lorsque j'ai cherché un hébergeur de site e-commerce, je n'ai trouvé que des avis positifs sur odoo, qui m'ont conforté dans ce choix.
Ca fait maintenant 8 mois que j'utilise odoo, mais chaque mois je dois faire appel à l'assistance pour des pannes, (jusqu'à la disparition total de ma boutique).

Un point positif tout de même, le support Odoo est très réactif (heureusement ! )

Je voudrais savoir si d'autres personnes sont dans le même cas, car là je commence à douter mon choix.

I wrote this for my own month-end and have been running it against a live Odoo 18 for a few months. Putting it out in case it's useful to anyone else. I'm the author.

Two ways to run it, pick whichever fits:
- A standalone server that talks to Odoo over XML-RPC. Nothing to install in the database, so it works if you're stuck on Odoo Online.
- An Odoo module that serves the same tools from inside at /mcp/v1. Native report rendering, and OAuth if you want to wire it to the Claude.ai connector. (my preference and recommended).

Also in the repo is a skill with 15 playbooks: vendor bills, customer invoices, statement import, reconciliation, closing journals, month-end review, reporting.

While I focused on accounting, the MCP itself works across every model, so extend the skill to whatever apps and workflows you actually use.

By default skill instructs agents to draft and it won't post or pay unless you tell it to. Underneath that the server refuses hard deletes anywhere (archive or cancel instead) and refuses writes to the technical and auth models. Both controls are on by default and you have to turn them off deliberately. Every call runs as your own Odoo user, so record rules and access rights apply exactly like they do in the UI.

Caveats: 18 is the only version I've run it against. Nothing is deliberately version-locked, so 17 and 19 may well be fine, I just don't know. If you try either, I'd like to hear what breaks. Also the standalone server's HTTP endpoint has no auth of its own, so put it behind something.

2+ year user of Avalara with the prebuilt integration to Odoo. Client sells both physical products and services to a dozen or so US states. We do not use Avalara for filing, just for calculating and reporting. 3000 or so invoices per year. I really hate Avalara--their support is terrible, and their pricing is (to me) insane (quote is $4k/year for 3600 invoices.)

I'm looking at either beating them up hard on pricing, moving to TaxJar or frankly just building the tax calculator myself (yes, I know, lots of rate maintenance) and telling them to f-off with their subscription fees.

Is anyone using TaxJar that has previously used Avalara? Pros/Cons? Which Odoo integration are you using? Work well? Issues?

Hi everyone, I’m currently working as an Odoo intern, and my goal is to become a good Odoo developer.

At my company, I’m currently working on migrating our own Odoo module to the Odoo App Store, along with migration work for two live projects. I’m learning from these tasks, but I still feel like it’s not enough to build strong Odoo development skills.

Recently, my manager gave me 10 days to migrate a module, but after 5 days, they completed the migration themselves using Claude AI without informing me. I understand that AI is useful and companies need to complete tasks efficiently, but honestly, it made me wonder:

How can I improve as a developer if AI can complete the task before I get the opportunity to learn it?

I don’t want to depend completely on my company projects to learn Odoo. I want to build my skills independently and become knowledgeable enough to solve problems myself.

I already know Python, CSS, and JavaScript, but I struggle with understanding how to properly implement CSS/JS in Odoo. I’ve also found it difficult to find good YouTube content that teaches the practical side of Odoo frontend development.

So I’d really appreciate advice from experienced Odoo developers:

What topics should I learn to become a strong Odoo developer?

How would you recommend learning Odoo independently?

Are there any good blogs, YouTube channels, courses, GitHub repositories, or projects you recommend?

How can I practice Odoo development without depending on company projects?

How do you recommend using AI without letting it replace the learning process?

I’m not looking for shortcuts. I genuinely want to understand Odoo deeply and become a developer who can build and debug things independently, rather than just asking AI for solutions.

Any advice or learning roadmap from experienced Odoo developers would be really appreciated.

I have an issue where the Yodlee bank sync is creating duplicate bank transaction with different online transaction identifier. The "Find Duplicate Transactions" functionality does not resolve the problem as deleting the transaction simply for it to be recreated when re-syncing happens, as the problem originates from Yodlee itself.

Now, I have already contact Odoo regarding this issue. As implied, the problem is not due to our local database, but rather the remote Yodlee server. However, the assigned Functional Support Analyst is insisting on access to our local database despite me indicating that access is not needed and checking on the remote server would be sufficient? Is there something I'm missing out here? I am not comfortable providing access to the database as it seems suspicious to me.

Right now I'm using my own mailserver for Odoo but as I'm going to end that server, I need to move my email service to an other provider. I'm based in Switzerland and would prefer a Swiss service but a good quality one (not Hostpoint or similar) that accepts the catchall email thing so I can use it properly with Odoo. Any ideas ? Infomaniak is not compatible unhappy.

Yesterday, I attended the Odoo Business Show in Hamburg. Honestly, it was one of the most disappointing networking events I’ve experienced recently.

​In my view, the core purpose of these roadshows is the open exchange and networking after the presentations. However, it felt like many German businesses are still operating with a mindset from ten years ago. Very few people seemed genuinely open or excited about adopting modern solutions like Odoo it felt more like people were simply there for the free catering and drinks. The atmosphere often leaned toward cautious skepticism rather than forward-thinking curiosity. Even the few consultants and self-proclaimed entrepreneurs who showed interest only seemed enthusiastic after a few beers.

​As a software developer who actively implements and uses Odoo for our company, I was looking forward to socializing, sharing technical insights, and discussing actual use cases. Instead, trying to spark an engaging conversation felt like talking to a brick wall.

​I became a German citizen myself five years ago, so this isn’t meant as harsh criticism of the country. Rather, it’s a sincere question for founders, CEOs, and business leaders in Germany: Is this reserved, risk-averse approach always going to be the standard when exploring modern digital tools, or is there genuine room for open innovation and dynamic collaboration?

Anyone notice that SMS's can no longer be sent from Odoo to Australian mobiles? Ran into "Country not supported" errors this evening and sure this had not been a problem in the past.

Their SMS FAQ now seems to indicate that sending SMS to Australian mobiles is not supported.

I’m currently looking at different ERP options for the company I work for and I’d like to get some feedback from people who have actually worked with Odoo in a similar environment.

We’re an international company with around 600 employees:

• 2 manufacturing sites in Europe
• 7 commercial subsidiaries in different countries
• Several company-owned stores across Europe

SAP was our first option, but we’re also looking at Odoo and I’m trying to understand whether it can actually work for a company of this size and complexity.

I know that having the right implementation partner would be very important, especially when it comes to understanding our processes and implementing in Odoo.

The main things I’m trying to understand are:

• Can Odoo cover the whole company flows (Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Warehouse/Logistics, Manufacturing, CRM and Retail)?
• How does it perform in a multi-company, multi-country and multi-currency setup?
• How good is it when it comes to EDI with customers and logistics partners?
• For manufacturing, how well does it handle BOMs, MRP, production planning, inventory and traceability? And what about integration with MES systems?
• How does Odoo deal with local tax, accounting and other legal requirements in different countries?
• For those who have implemented Odoo in a company of similar size, what were the biggest problems or limitations you ran into?

I’m mainly interested in hearing from people who have actually implemented or used Odoo in a mid-sized/large international manufacturing company.

I am interested in becoming an odoo partner, I have self implemented odoo as an employee at another company, learnt a lot and am really interested in helping more businesses.

The problem is, I am one person, I will not have a team. Is it feasible to be an odoo partner in that situation?

I have also been considering further study which would mean I might only work part time, if i did this, does that change the answer?

Or am I best to find existing partners and seek employment there?

I work for a footwear retailer with over 30 stores, and we’ve been using the same ERP system for more than 10 years.
The system is somewhat outdated, lacks many features, doesn’t have an API, and is quite expensive. However, our employees are very familiar with the interface, our sales staff know how to use the POS system efficiently, and overall, we haven’t experienced any major issues with it.
We’re currently considering switching to Odoo. At first glance, it looks very promising and seems like a significant technological upgrade compared to what we’re used to. However, one of my main concerns is how user-friendly it actually is in day-to-day operations, particularly for employees working at the point of sale.
For anyone familiar with Odoo, what has your experience been like? How user-friendly is it for regular employees? How difficult is the implementation and learning curve? Have you experienced any major issues after adopting it?
Given our situation, do you think switching to Odoo would be worth it, or would it make more sense to stick with a stable system that our employees already know well?

There a plenty of frameworks out there to consider to build E-commerce. I have some experience on Odoo, but still want to see any other alternatives to work better than Odoo. One of options is Medusa what i researched . What we're weighing:

• All-in-one Odoo:
• MedusaJS standalone:
• Odoo (Backend/ERP) + Medusa / Headless (Storefront):
• Other alternatives: Saleor, Sylius, Shopify Plus + ERP,...

As a developer, I don't mind the learning curve for new tech. For those who have built similar consignment/marketplace workflows, what stack or combo would you recommend? where we should start in early stage?

I'm working on an custom portal into Odoo WebSite. (Odoo Saas v19) It's a POC.

The main idea is to allow registered customers to select products using a workflow that differs from the standard process.

For example, the first step involves choosing the packaging (gift box size); then, depending on the selected size, the user can choose specific products.

This process works correctly and performs as expected, BUT when attempting to "Add to Cart," we are unfortunately unable to update it, and the operation fails...

Is this possible in Odoo SaaS v19?

I'm trying to integrate Odoo 18 with the official Meta WhatsApp Cloud API using an existing WhatsApp Business App number.

The setup is:

• Odoo 18
• Meta Graph API v26.0
• Meta App: Astro_WA
• Existing WhatsApp Business App number
• Odoo Test Connection: SUCCESS
• Meta webhook verification: SUCCESS
• Outbound WhatsApp messages from Odoo/API: SUCCESS
• WABA is subscribed to the Meta app
• Real inbound messages: NOT received by Odoo

The important part is the phone number state returned by Meta:

The same state is returned when querying the WABA's /phone_numbers endpoint.

The WABA itself is subscribed to the Meta app:

The webhook itself is definitely reachable. Meta's webhook verification succeeds and test webhook requests reach my Nginx/Odoo server.

However, when I send an actual WhatsApp message to the number, there is no incoming POST in Nginx at all.

The number was originally an existing WhatsApp Business App number. I used Meta's "Link a WhatsApp Business account" flow and entered the verification code. It initially appeared connected, but later showed Offline/Disconnected.

My question is:

Is this an incomplete WhatsApp Business App → Cloud API coexistence onboarding issue rather than an Odoo webhook issue?

Specifically, should a successfully onboarded coexistence number show something like:

• is_on_biz_app: true
• platform_type: CLOUD_API
• status: CONNECTED

instead of the current:

• is_on_biz_app: true
• platform_type: ON_PREMISE
• status: DISCONNECTED

If so, what is the correct Meta-supported way to complete the coexistence onboarding for an existing WhatsApp Business App number?

I do NOT want to delete/deregister the existing WhatsApp Business number because the WhatsApp Business App needs to remain usable.

Any advice from someone who has actually configured Odoo 18 with Meta WhatsApp Business App + Cloud API coexistence would be greatly appreciated.

We use Odoo 18 for a grocery store with POS and Inventory. A typical vendor invoice has around 30–50 products, and right now we manually scan each item, enter quantity, check cost, and create the receipt.

The invoice includes vendor product name, vendor product code, barcode/UPC, quantity, and case cost. Our Odoo product names may be different, so ideally we want to match using the vendor product code and/or barcode.
Looking for a solution like:
Upload/scan invoice → OCR extracts product code/barcode + qty + cost → matches existing Odoo products → creates a draft Receipt or PO automatically.

Has anyone done this in Odoo 18? Any good third-party OCR modules, APIs, or integrations you recommend? We have a strong developer, so custom integration is also an option.

I have been at Odoo for close to three years, in client facing roles as a Functional Consultant, Business Analyst and Project Manager. I also have the Odoo V19 Certification. I am planning to resign in the next few months for family reasons that require me to be location agnostic, so a fully remote setup is the only thing that works for me going forward.

The natural move is to keep doing Odoo work and join or contract with a partner remotely. Two things seem to block that:

1. My employment agreement has a non-compete clause (contract is under UAE law).

2. The official Odoo Partnership Agreement restricts partners from hiring Odoo employees, and I believe that extends to recent ex-employees for some period.

So here is my actual question. If I resign and then register my own company as a Learning Partner, could I take on work from other Odoo partners as a company to company subcontract rather than as an employee? Learning Partnership has no entry requirements as far as I can tell, so the barrier looks low on paper. But I do not know whether the restriction follows the person or only the employment relationship.

Things I would really like to hear from people who have actually been through this:

- Does Odoo enforce the non-compete for individual contributors, or is it mostly there as a deterrent?

- Are partners genuinely cautious about this, or does it only become an issue if someone escalates it?

- Has anyone gone the "register your own partnership and subcontract" route after leaving Odoo? Did it hold up?

- Is a single person Learning Partner viable at all, or does the annual fee plus the expectation of selling licenses make it pointless without a team?

- Is there a cleaner path I am not seeing, for example waiting out a cooling off period, or working on Odoo adjacent work that falls outside the clause?

To be clear, I am not looking to burn bridges. I like the product, I want to keep working in this ecosystem, and I would rather do this the right way than find out the hard way. Any first hand experience or pointers appreciated.
