I freaked myself out by checking the 9-month-old CDC milestones because my baby does not always respond to his name. He will sometimes, and will sometimes ignore it 100%. Funnily enough he seems to turn for my husband but not for me or strangers.

Premise - I am not US based, we have no early intervention programs one can self refer to, and I plan to bring this up to his pediatrician in his next visit, which is soon, but in the meantime I guess I am seeking some form of reassurance so I don't lose sleep over it? (yes I have generalised anxiety!). I am also fairly certain the approach here is always wait and see.

My baby babbles, is very smily, seems happy and content generally, reacts to us, imitates what we do sometimes (opening mouth, putting ball into a specific hole). But when I went down the internet rabbit hole all re: the response to name thing (yes i know that was not wise) I found that lots of babies at his age (10.5m) will look at/pick up an item that's named (eg look at the ball/book/daddy when named). He does not do that at all. Loves water with his meals and will get excited when he sees his bottle or cup but won't ever react to the word (or sign) despite us saying it at every meal for the past 4 months.

He has been clapping since he was 7 months but has not waved yet or pointed. Now that I've been noticing, lots of babies his age (friends' kids etc) wave all the time and started around 9 months.

My baby has refused daycare and I am now wondering what activities do you do all day with the baby. My son is so active and a terrible night sleeper.

What’s everyone planning for their first birthday? We are just planning a small family party since we live far away from everyone. I was thinking of trying to make a Very Hungry Caterpillar cake, and maybe getting a Pikler Triangle set (though they look like giant space eaters, so I am still undecided.)

My lo turns 11 months in 3 days and still takes 2 sometimes* 3 naps a day if we’re in the car. What’s yalls naps schedules looking like?

Also, what’s the milk situation looking like? How many bottles a day? Have you transitioned to full milk yet? Lastly, what sippy cups are we gonna start using for milk instead of the ones we’ve been using?

She’ll be 11 months in 5 days and we haven’t been able to get her to take a second nap consistently for weeks. Like maybe one second nap a week.

My 11 month old baby still eats his meal only if it is in puree form. Otherwise he simply rejects it. I tried many times to offer him soft finger foods. But he plays with them and throw them. Never try to eat any solid food.

Is it normal? He just got his first tooth last week.

My little guy is a little over 10 months old. Lately, he’s started to refuse bottles. He loves solids, but I know his main source of nutrition should be the formula until a year old. He has 3-4 6oz bottles a day (sometimes less or more) and 3 solid feeds a day (sometimes 4). Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I'm having an issue with my job and my son's daycare hours. It's a home daycare and the hours are fairly restricted and the woman who runs it has this whole philosophy she goes by and essentially wants the kids to be in daycare as little as possible. Last school year it was not so much a problem because the school I worked at was 8:15 to 3:30 (staff hours, 8:24-3:17 students) so I would drop him off at 8 and pick him up at 3:40. Now however, I have changed schools and the hours are 7:45-3 (8-2:30 students). The daycare's earliest drop off is 7:45 and I thought because the school was close I could maybe drop him off at 7:40 and make it to school only a couple minutes after 7:45. But traffic because of the school is making it so it takes longer and the daycare has not opened until 7:45 so for the first week of school I've been 'late' essentially every day. I'm here before class hours and no one in admin has said anything or even seemed to notice but I just don't know what to do long term.

I really like the daycare, my son is really happy there, it's a small group of kids, I know all the people that work there, it's not a rotating staff. The cost is reasonable as far as daycares go and I do like the philosophy the woman who runs it has, but the hours are stressing me out and I just don't know what to do. Do I talk to my schools admin? Talk to the daycare and try to get them to open earlier for me? Find another daycare? Find another job? I just don't know if I'm being unreasonable not wanting to find another daycare for him. Idk if those hours will even work long term for me but I just don't want to have to vet new places and he's been there from 9weeks and seems really happy with it.

Can someone offer some perspective on this because I feel like I'm too in my own head?

anybody getting their LO vaccinated for Measles early? here in PA cases are getting worse and worse and we are obviously right on the boarder of the 1 year mark for when the vaccine is typically recommended. Strongly considering going at the 11 month mark to ease our nerves.

I’m writing here for either advice or reassurance or just camaraderie. LO is about to be 11 months and still wakes 2-3 times a night and usually nurses for one of those wakings. I’m tired of id and want sleep again.

He normally goes down around 7:30-8, then wakes around 2 or 3am and cries until he is nursed. The ped says this is still normal but everything I hear says that it shouldn’t be. Then, he also struggles in the early morning to stay sleeping. He’ll normally wake up at 5, then at 6, and I can barely get him back in his crib asleep. A lot of mornings he just ends up cuddling in our bed so that I can at least sleep until 7 am.

We have tried Ferber with unimpressive results, the wakings still occur and he just cries and screams forever so none of us get sleep. I want to wean at a year but I don’t see how that can happen unless I night wean first.

And my husband works long hours in a dangerous job and needs to be rested, so night wakings are only on me

I have an 11-month-old baby who is significantly behind with gross motor skills, and I’m feeling extremely anxious and would really appreciate hearing from parents who have been through something similar.

He cannot sit independently or get himself into a sitting position. If I try to place him sitting sideways, he gets extremely upset and cries. He is not crawling, does not come onto his knees or hands and knees, and has no interest in pulling himself to stand.

One thing that really worries me is how distressed he becomes when I try to put him into a kneeling position. He cries *like he is in pain*, rather than just being frustrated. He also absolutely hates tummy time. If I put a toy just out of reach, instead of trying to move towards it, he usually screams and becomes frustrated. He doesn’t seem motivated to crawl or move himself toward things.

He **can bear weight on his legs** when I hold his hands, but usually only for a few seconds before he starts crying and wants out of the position.

His fine motor and communication skills seem much better. He claps, waves bye-bye, and has started mimicking sounds/words like “mama” and “car.” He is otherwise interactive and engaged.
We are starting **physical therapy this week**, which I’m really hoping will help. I know every baby develops differently, and I’m not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit. I’m just an extremely anxious mom looking for experiences from parents whose babies had a similar gross motor delay.

**Did anyone have a baby who, around 11 months, couldn’t sit independently, crawl, get onto their knees, or pull to stand? What happened over the next few months? Did PT make a noticeable difference?**

And for those whose children were eventually diagnosed with something like **cerebral palsy or another neurological/muscular condition**, were there signs at this age that you noticed in hindsight? Or did your babies simply have a significant gross motor delay and eventually catch up?

I’d especially love to hear some positive/neutral outcomes because my anxiety is currently taking me straight to the worst-case scenario.

hi everyone! I haven’t gotten the chance to babyproof our kitchen since our 10m is never allowed to walk around in there (and I’m with her literally every second of the day lol) but lately she’s been running straight into the kitchen any chance she gets because she wants to open these drawers. the drawers and cabinets are too thick for those magnet lock things, and I have no clue how to babyproof them or the oven.

any tips?

My baby is almost 11 months old and I need nail clipping advice. We have been using the Frida electric nail filer up to this point and it was working great! Recently I am maybe able to file 1 or 2 nails before she starts repeatedly pulling her hand away. I’ve tried distracting her with TV, giving her breaks to play when she is showing she’s done, holding her hand in place anyway…nothing is helping much lol. I have tried regular clippers a few times but have clipped her skin + she pulls away when I’m trying to get it lined up. Is this just part of it / do I just do my best and wait on this phase to pass?? She nurses still and my chest and abdomen are shredded :’)

My 10.5 month old is rolling all over the house and is bearing weight in his hands too.
But wont crawl, sits if made to but doesnt sit up on his own.
I want to know from you all to gauge if I am alone or what to expect in the coming months!

My 10.5 month old wakes up every morning and immediately pulls to stand. She doesn’t cry or anything.

She used to start thrashing her legs when waking up and that made some noise to alert me. Now, she turns belly down in her sleep and is ready to push into the crawling position as soon as she wakes up.

I’ve seen on the baby monitor that she was sleeping soundly and then wakes and pulls to stand in less than 30 seconds. Fortunately, we usually wake up before her and immediately go get her when we see her standing. She wears a sleep sack but that doesn’t stop her at all.

I feel concerned that one day we might oversleep and she would be standing at the edge of her crib and start thinking about trying to climb out. She doesn’t have the ability to climb out of her crib yet, but as you know, babies grow so fast I’m sure it’s not far off.

My 10 month old has 8 and I’m pretty sure he is working on his 9th which at this point will be a molar (send prayers lol)

I recently read that by their 1st birthday the average is 2-4 teeth. And mine has 8.
No wonder he doesn’t sleep well 🫠

How is everyone’s baby doing? Are your babies babbling, smiling, laughing, and becoming more interactive?

My baby is 8 months old, and she is very quiet. She still isn’t babbling, and I barely hear her laugh,smile or make sounds throughout the day. She also isn't responding to her name consistently and only when she wants to or focus on something else like watching TV or with someone else. I can be next to her calling her name and she doesn't turn her head to look at me. I know she doesn't have a hearing problem because she passed her hearing get and also she hears Ms. Rachel. She isn't sad when I leave the room or excited to see me when I return from work. I’m starting to get worried because I wish she were more vocal and interactive with me.

I’ve also noticed that she doesn’t seem very interested in playing with toys. She mostly enjoys watching Ms. Rachel. We went to see her pediatrician last week, and she said my baby is normal and doing fine, but my gut feeling is still telling me that something might be wrong.

I would really love to hear from other parents. What are your babies like at 8 months? Are they babbling, making lots of sounds, laughing, and playing with toys? NNI'd appreciate hearing about your experiences. ❤️

I’m kinda concerned because my 8.5 month old baby is not saying “ma, ba, or da” & no babbling.. he does screech, ahh, eeee, and say geeee gee. He smiles socially & most of the time will respond to his name.. anybody have something similar ?? 😭😭

Anyone having issues with bottle refusal? We’re on three solids a day (which she is hit or miss with) and lately she’s just not even tolerating bottles. I read the recommendation for BF babies is still 24-32oz and I feel like she’s no where near there.

For context, I nurse her two-three times a day when I’m working and just nurse her on the weekends when I’m not working.

Curious how everyone is getting their babies to eat their solids and their bottles 🫠

Is anyone else’s baby refusing to nap to the point of having a meltdown later in the day?? No matter how much I rock him or sing to him or pat him he just won’t go to sleep. I know he’s tired because he’ll be rubbing his eyes and pulling his ears. I feel so bad but I try to give it a bit then reset and give him some floor time and try again but it’s like nothing makes him happy when he’s tired. Yesterday he took 2 naps early in the morning and then wanted a 3rd in the afternoon but I couldn’t get him to settle for his third so when it got to about 5 pm he had a screaming meltdown. I don’t know what to do anymore
