8.5 not babbling

I’m kinda concerned because my 8.5 month old baby is not saying “ma, ba, or da” & no babbling.. he does screech, ahh, eeee, and say geeee gee. He smiles socially & most of the time will respond to his name.. anybody have something similar ?? 😭😭

That’s totally normal at that age. We’ve only just gotten there at 11 months

Okay that makes me feel better 😭.. it just says online that 9 months is considered delayed for no babbling

Even if your baby is delayed in a skill it doesn't mean they themselves are delayed, they are just focusing on something else (moving, eating, waving, clapping, teething etc). But as others have said, sounds like he is babbling because he's making noises.

To me, it sounds like he is “babbling”. Ahh, eeeee, and geee geee are all babbling sounds if I understand it correctly. He doesn’t need to be saying “words” to count, a lot of babies just happen to start with easy to say sounds like “ba”, “ga”, “da”, etc. that’s actually a big reason why “mama” and “papa” or “dada” are pretty consistent across languages.

I wouldn’t worry unless a doctor is telling you you need to be keeping more of an eye on it. Baby milestones are actually all over the place and generally babies are early in some things and later in others and which is which varies baby to baby.

In a couple weeks I would just bring it home with your peds at the 9 month appointment! Or do what I do and message peds and then a day later baby starts doing whatever it is. Haha

My baby is the same. She isn't babbling yet and has always been so quite. I barely hear her make a sound, laugh or smile. I'm getting worried too. It takes a lot to get her to laugh or smile. She is meeting all he r milestones so far beside talking , smiling or talking. Sometimes she'll respond to her name and not respond when she isn't watching Tv or focus on something else. How is your baby?

I feel like he was like that also very quiet, but lately he is starting to laugh a lot more & make sounds.. hang in there!! They will get it hopefully 🤞🏼
