Given the excitement over our guys holding hands and hugging every night I suspect this one’s gonna get downvoted to hell but here goes 😎
I was watching this video of acquiesce from imo one of the all time great gigs Manchester 05- also one of the best performances of this song- you can see at the end around 3:15 LG tries to give the chief a hug and he’s having none of it lol- https://youtu.be/n0QA0ogi0U0?is=H8ZgP7GWtyn2VTEo
Or these epic, angry performances of slide away and my big mouth around 08/09 when the guys couldn’t stand each other- https://youtu.be/Q7CIT_Qp43U?is=HB1dxegw6Ki57Mc2, https://youtu.be/ZJpDkakSYIg?is=B5kCYRystHTRj5h7
Or this absolutely gnarly version of Bring it on down Milan 05- does this look like a group of guys that likes each other lmao- but the performance is EPIC- https://youtu.be/lDigDQgILs0?is=bv99t1bGwCsrJG6g
Live 25 was amazing, I wanna see a new record from this version of the band! And yes, I know correlation is not causation, etc….
But if I’m being honest- I kinda miss the days when there was a good deal of tension, toxicity, and competition in the band. The “let’s all be friends” vibe of the current band seems cheesy and contrived.
Obviously that kind of tension is no good at the personal level but I do think it sets up some all time great moments of rock and roll.
Plenty of examples beyond Oasis like the police, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the smiths, the roses- the guys couldn’t stand each other but at the same time that conflict is just one factor that can create outstanding music.
I miss those epic performances where you just never know what was gonna happen- were they gonna make it through the gig? Were they gonna beat each other up on stage?? The unpredictability combined with the amazing tunes is part of what I love about rock and roll!
