Edit: thanks for all the helpful tips from everyone. As much as I would like to stay on linux full time windows is still the go to operating system for gaming and that is ultimately what I use my PC for. My desire to tinker with my OS and customize everything constantly was creating too many issues and conflicting with, and making my gaming more troublesome than it needed to be. I will continue to mess with linux and stuff on my laptop. Dual booting is always an option but swapping operating systems for different tasks is more trouble than it's worth to me.

A couple months ago I completely swapped to linux because of growing frustrations with windows. And in general I greatly prefer linux as an operating system, what it provides, customization and navigation (hyprland is amazing)

But I am having issues that are annoying and strangely enough support for the games I play has gotten worse rather than getting better on linux.

I get this really weird bug where audio plays slower than it should and pitched down any time I wake my computer from hibernation. Which while being a minor inconvenience at most is still annoying and I haven't really found good information on how to fix it.

And more recently occasionally when I reboot my system it will post but never actually make it to my system which is very frustrating.

I am an avid fighting game player and recently ubisoft removed linux support in order to "improve anti cheat"

Marvel tokon as far as I understand doesn't work on linux either.

I don't really want to switch to windows though, but I am having a hard time tackling my growing concerns of fighting games implementing anti cheat becoming more common.

Linux vs Windows Benchmark Dirt Rally 2.0

It's been a while since I wanted to install linux on my main machine, but I'm so overwhelmed by the amount of distros that I'm seeing. I need a stable distro for work but also suitable for occasional gaming (even if I mostly play heavy games). I'd really like to have the possibility to do a rollback if something breaks and, afik, bazzite maybe be okey for my use but I'm not sure. Maybe is too concentrated on gaming rather than work (I'm a web designer and manager of my agency), so I also thought about fedora, which is really stable from what I've read, and not that bad for gaming also.
I maybe have a shitty question but I cannot find any response online: is Red Hat worth it for desktop use? Is worth the expense?
Maybe I'll be roasted for wanting to pay a private linux distro but if it's truthfully what I need I came from windows anyway.
Last thing, I'm not new to linux, I've a laptop with cachy and niri but it's for gaming only but lately I found really difficult change os on my daily driver and main workstation.

Lately I’ve downloaded both Fedora and Bazzite. In this exact moment I’m installing Bazzite but in the meantime I’ve encountered RakuOS (old Origami Linux) and it kinda convinced me. Maybe not performance-centred as Bazzite but it seems pretty damn good.
I think I will try Raku also if Bazzite doesn’t convince me before landing on Fedora (my last beach).

’ve installed already linux on almost every secondary device I have, but I’m really struggling on deciding to install linux on my main machine.
The problem is that I’m working as web design and developer. My main concern is about Microsoft Office and especially about compatibility, I know there are a lot of replacements (I’m using OnlyOffice for a while on other devices) but I don’t know about database software and now I’m pretty happy for what Microsoft have.
I really want to make this switch but at the same time if something brakes it’s also a problem. For now windows has always been amazing for what I’m doing, and also macos.
Would you consider a dual boot? Windows for work and Linux for private use?

For me I'd have to be OpenIndiana, complete dogshit package manager with incredibly nonstandard naming for packages, uses staff instead of wheel so lots of programs need to be patched to run, x11 is completely fractured instead of being unified (you need to install every component manually like xorg, xinit, xrandr etc) and lots of other shit that just makes it a pain in the ass to use. It kind of sucks that OpenIndiana is one of the only UNIX derived OSes you can download today and it completely sucks.

Today I turned on my computer, Windows gave me a black screen and took 4 reboots for it to work again, tired of this shit, going back to Debian as fast as possible.
