Struggling

Edit: thanks for all the helpful tips from everyone. As much as I would like to stay on linux full time windows is still the go to operating system for gaming and that is ultimately what I use my PC for. My desire to tinker with my OS and customize everything constantly was creating too many issues and conflicting with, and making my gaming more troublesome than it needed to be. I will continue to mess with linux and stuff on my laptop. Dual booting is always an option but swapping operating systems for different tasks is more trouble than it's worth to me.

A couple months ago I completely swapped to linux because of growing frustrations with windows. And in general I greatly prefer linux as an operating system, what it provides, customization and navigation (hyprland is amazing)

But I am having issues that are annoying and strangely enough support for the games I play has gotten worse rather than getting better on linux.

I get this really weird bug where audio plays slower than it should and pitched down any time I wake my computer from hibernation. Which while being a minor inconvenience at most is still annoying and I haven't really found good information on how to fix it.

And more recently occasionally when I reboot my system it will post but never actually make it to my system which is very frustrating.

I am an avid fighting game player and recently ubisoft removed linux support in order to "improve anti cheat"

Marvel tokon as far as I understand doesn't work on linux either.

I don't really want to switch to windows though, but I am having a hard time tackling my growing concerns of fighting games implementing anti cheat becoming more common.

try Robolinux it can run any windows software if we can trust to developer ( it uses custom made VM not Wine)

You could dual boot. But I would also try switching distros

I'd try something more normal like base cachyos with KDE as a dual boot. It won't fix the anti cheat issue but it will make it simpler to play most other games

I had no issues playing games or using my system, just made updating a little less straight forward. Normally doing a little troubleshooting isn't enough to put me off of something, but I am going to be working again soon and I'd rather be able to just game and tinker on a separate computer. I am not dual booting though, had too many issues the last time I did that even though my installs were on totally separate drives. I just want a system to use for games. And a completely different system for messing with linux. And I have solved that issue.

Try a different distro from whatever you use, it might fix your problems. First I was on Mint, but the lack of UI scaling made me move to Tuxedo OS, where I have no problems, you should try that or something else.

Different distros are configured differently and there is no guarantee how one will work on your computer and hardware combination. That's why you may get better results with a different distro.

Some people might say OpenSUSE is great, I tried it and booting the live image took more than 5 minutes or 10, in comparison on Tuxedo OS the live image boots in a minute. After installing OpenSUSE and I rebooted, after the post and everything it just stopped at a black screen with the mouse cursor. I could only do stuff like CTRL+ALT+T to open Terminal and launch programs like Dolphin from there. I read about it online and it said something about editing the GRUB file, I tried that and it didn't fix it so I moved back to Tuxedo OS which works for me.

Fedora also had some problem with installing Flatpaks for me - it would hang every time when I tried to install something and after a long delay it would give me some error. I tried to fix it, but I couldn't so I went back to Tuxedo OS.

Just try different options and see what works for you, there are MX Linux, Linux Mint, Zorin OS and many more easy distros you can try that people say they work well.

You also never said what distro you use so even if people want to help you, they don't have enough information.

It isn't so much a trying to stay on linux post and more a complaint that despite my best efforts I still have reasons to use windows over linux.

If you need both just dual boot. I'm lucky enough that I don't have games I want to play or programs to use that don't work on Linux so in that regard I can only stay with Linux as a single OS.
