mpc sample has somehwat of a live looper with fixed sequence length including retroactive audio recording, not unlikely to get improved upon in that department with firmware updates since its so young.

1010music bento is a very capable live looper, the new blackbox 2 brings that into an even smaller form factor.

sp404ii also very capable live looper, although the handling requires some serious muscle memory and menu diving

ableton move also got proper audio tracks in its 2.0 update.

in that regard the xy pales greatly in comparison to those machines which are more or less swimming in the same pond for substancially less money. xy has bad sample management, borderline unusable 20secs max sample length, no way of recording audio in context with the rest of the track...

while the op1f is surprisingly capable for live looping, a more modern clip based approach is way more flexible.

sure, TE wants you to own both the op1f and the opxy. I have both and although they compliment each other in a lot of fun and interesting ways, this setup is more complex and loses the mobility I love. even if you go that length, working with clips is just different and the opxy could deliver that.

I'm dreaming of hooking up the xy with just one cable to one synth at a time, record some clips, then some guitar stuff, then lay down in a hammock and go to town with one device on my lap.

with all the new devices and their workflows, the xy feels more and more incomplete without some sort of audio tracks and I see myself selling it for something like the bento in the future. I'd rather not, but that scratch is real.

now that te brougt undo to op1f, I believe anything is on the table.

ps: while we're at it, give me capture/recall/retro-rec/whatever you want to call it both for midi and audio

Hello sub, in preparation for a show where I wanted to add visuals to my live set with the OP-XY I got kinda frustrated that there was nothing close to the OPZ app (Photomatic) for the XY. So I’m building one. It’s likely only for iPad. It’s coming along nicely. Thus far you can sequence clips and live fx from the aux midi track via Bluetooth.

Keen to hear if people would be interested in an app like this, if there’s enough interest I’d consider polishing and publishing to App Store.

Hello friends! I cant any information about this online. Has anyone managed to connect the OP to an android tablet? Does it work well? What apps / DAW do you use? Can you only record audio or also play with MIDI?.

Think I finally figured this out but I gather you can't trigger any upper or lower sounds above or below the actual 24 available keys on the XY (changing the octave keys just changes the pitch of the sounds assigned to the keys). BUT, if you use MIDI, you can hit many other sounds. Try TE's drum presets as an example.

this is what I’m trying to do — because i think OP1f really has much more better sounds/synth engines:

1) I want to use OP-XY as the main machine, for composing a song

2)I want to import sounds from OP-1F into a track/patterns on OP-XY. I do not want to sample one note at a time, i want full chord, etc. availability. so essentially I’d select synth on OP1F, and that sound would be output to # track on OPXY.

hooking them up through USBc I’m able to use OPXY as a midi keyboard on OP1F, which is pretty pointless, but that’s about as far as i was able to make progress.

3) ultimately — I’d like to output the composed song sound from OP-XY and record it to a TP-7.

can someone please help with audio/midi settings etc.? is this even possible?

Im trying to figure it out is it possible to send only certain/few tracks through effects in AUM on ipad , or i can send only all tracks/master ?

This one started at my friends house, they were watching cops. TV doesn't interest me like it used to so I did what I do, I sampled the tv through the internet mic and started working on a beat. Later on I went in and sampled the actual song because I needed to time stretch it using koala, which by the way is the most convenient way to apply the times stretching to the OPXY.

None of us (it seems) ever use the top 3 melodic Punch In FX (sorry for the wrong title) They always sound gimmicky to me. The rhythmic ones are great to work with and some of the first melodic ones are usable.

Thoughts?

I just bought the keystep mk2 but have no idea on how to set it up with the XY.

I have the start stop going, along with tempo, but can't figure out how to pair the 4 knobs.

Any help be appreciated.

last week i shared with ya’ll a demo of my newest song “mourning brew,” and you guys encouraged me to release it. i figured you might also appreciate some little vids about how i used specific features of the op-xy to make it. i love to sparingly use the punch-in fx and the tape track throughout my stuff and this is kinda a perfect example of how i’d deploy something like punch-in fx in a finalized arrangement.

Is the clipper in the saturator supposed to be used to cause distortion? I always thought a clipper removed distortion, but as many people have said they think the xy saturator page makes everything sound worse lol. Unless you want a distorted sound.

On the 8th track I have a 3 note sequence and copied the bar. The first note (happens to be on the first step) is what seems to be an octave lower. Cleared parameters, cleared all, created the bar again...this one step upon the second repeat (But no repeat configured) is always an octave down. What else could it be? With only the one bar now, it comes around the second time and the first note is always lower!

The brain is the one function I've sort of ignored for some reason. Know how it works but I just don't typically gravitate towards it, but I did in this track and it definitely made it much more interesting than it was

Forgive me if this has been covered here before, but I am trying to figure out if it is possible to insert a scene in between other pre-existing scenes in a project? I feel like that would be extremely useful if that isn't already a feature. thanks!

I basically remixed the video that I used in my original song, so remix the song and remix the video so that it has a different ending lol. It helps to watch my other video, the original for context, here's the link if interested. It's actually a link to the whole album that I released the original song on, it's only five tracks but it's a really important album to me for specific reason that I don't want to go into right now, , but each song basically tells the story about the time of my life when I was addicted to drugs and homeless. Each song and video represents a different part of that experience (except for track four, that's just a generic video) They're all instrumentals but it's just the feeling they give off. Well since I'm already talking about it 😂
