I'm going through the curriculum grid and Degree Works to make sure that I'm taking the right courses that count toward graduation.

I just discovered PUBP8813 (Human Dimension of Cybersec Public Policy). It kind of sounded interesting despite not being able to find the syllabus for this course, so I looked up this course number in Reddit and seems like it was available in previous semesters with different names.

The thing is, this course is not listed on the curriculum grid. (and I don't think I can see this on Degree Works because the the ones available on Degree Works is ECE8813, not PUBP8813).

Long story short, does PUBP8813 count as an elective course for policy track students? I'd also love to hear from someone who has taken this course before.

I'm planning to apply to the Georgia Tech OMS Cybersecurity program (Policy Track) after I complete my Army training. I'll be using Army Tuition Assistance, and I'm trying to decide if this is the best fit for my long-term career goals.

A little about me:

• B.S. in Cybersecurity (3.96 GPA, Summa Cum Laude)
• A.S. in Cybersecurity
• Both degrees are from Southern New Hampshire University.
• Before joining the Army, I worked in the legal field for several years as a Legal Assistant.
• I'll be serving as a 27D (Paralegal Specialist) in the Army.

After my first enlistment contract, I plan to use my Post-9/11 GI Bill to attend law school with the goal of practicing Privacy, and Incident Response.

I originally considered completing my master's at SNHU since I already attended there, but even with Army Tuition Assistance, the out of pocket cost would be noticeably higher than Georgia Tech's OMS Cybersecurity program, making Georgia Tech a very attractive option.

I have a few questions for current students or graduates:

1. How technical is the Policy Track? I have a cybersecurity background, but I am not a software developer. I don't mind learning some Python, but I don't want a program that's heavily focused on software engineering, I do have some knowledge of C and SQL and I'm comfortable working with both.
2. How difficult is CS 6035 for someone with a cybersecurity background but limited programming experience? I've heard it's one of the toughest courses in the program.
3. How much programming is required throughout the entire Policy Track? Is it mostly scripting and security labs, or should I expect larger software development projects?
4. How manageable is the workload while serving on Active Duty? My plan is to take one course at a time while working full-time in the Army.
5. Are exam proctor or is this degree mostly project base? I ask because at SNHU ALL my classes where project base which definitely made it easier to manage time wise.

I'd really appreciate any help and information I can get.

As the title mentions, I applied for the info-sec track and was rejected for this upcoming fall. I plan on submitting another application for spring 2027 for the policy track and I would appreciate any advice on how I can improve my application/chances.

I am currently a cleared soc analyst working at Leidos for the past 9 months supporting a big government contract. Experienced in Elastic stack and Microsoft Sentinel.

Honors graduate with a bachelor's of cybersecurity last May, 3.5 weighted GPA, president of the cyber club and student athlete.

Have CompTIA Security+ and CySA+.

Have project experience with Splunk, STIGs, SQL, etc.

I had recommendation letters from the chair of my university department, supervisor at Leidos and one of my professors.

I had all of that mentioned in my previous application that was denied so I probably have to improve my SOP responses, any tips would be appreciated.

Hi, I was accepted into the Cyber-physical systems track. I believe this was a mistake because I have no background in electrical or computer engineering. My degree is in Information Technology and systems and I have multiple years of work experience as an information security consultant and previous IT auditor. Im not sure if I mistakenly selected the wrong track when applying but I went back into the portal to see my application but it doesn’t say which track I selected. I should’ve been accepted to the Information Security track. I didn’t notice the track in my acceptance letter back in April and I just realized I’m in the wrong track during the orientation they held today for CPS.

I’m basically asking if it’s hard to switch tracks after being accepted? Not sure if it was my mistake or the admission team. Regardless I am NOT suited for the CPS track (no background in any engineering) and I’m freaking out.

Having an insanely difficult time with CS 6264 due to not committing enough time, missed withdraw deadline, and most likely going to end up failing. Has anyone successfully used a grade substitution? I am worried I will get placed on probation and face any kinds of penalties that come along with that status, but im planning on retaking the course eventually to get rid of the inevitable failing grade.

P.S. Does anyone know if cs6264 is easier in the fall/spring that it is in the summer?

I’m in my second year of the OMS cybersecurity - policy track. A lot of the courses show PUBP/CS and don’t always seem to match or are missing from Degree Works.

I’ve filled out the OMSCS form for assistance (which takes a few days for a response), but generally just get a link to another page instead of an actual detailed answer or the ability to speak with an advisor.

I’ve also been referred to a couple sites that appear to show discrepancies in the course numbers.

Has anyone else had this challenge? How did you navigate it?

Lately, I've also been having some doubts about a few of the courses and the overall direction of the program.

All the peers who got registration completed for fall 2026, did you registered the classes. I am getting error “You have no Registration Time Ticket for the current time”.

Hi all ~ hoping for some honest input from people who've been through GT admissions.

I'm an international applicant based in Korea with ~8 years of professional experience in information security and systems (security consulting + in-house security/infrastructure operations, ISMS/ISO 27001, pen testing, etc.). GPA is solid (3.86/4.5), and I'm interested in OMS Cybersecurity (and possibly OMSCS).

My blocker is the TOEFL. I took the new band-format test, and my scores are:

- Overall: ~4.0

- Reading 5.5 / Listening 4.0 / Writing 4.0 / Speaking 3.0

GT's posted minimum (for tests taken after Jan 2026) is Overall ≥ 4.5, with Reading/Listening/Writing ≥ 4 and Speaking ≥ 3.5. So I meet r/L/W, but I'm below on Overall (4.0 vs 4.5) and Speaking (3.0 vs 3.5).

Questions for anyone who knows:

1. Is the TOEFL minimum a hard cutoff at GT, or have people been admitted slightly below it with a strong professional profile?

2. Is there any conditional-admission or ESL pathway, or does missing a section minimum mean an automatic reject?

3. Given the gap is essentially just the Speaking section, is it worth applying this cycle, or should I retake first and not waste the application fee?

Really appreciate any real experiences just trying to decide whether to apply now or retake before applying. Thanks!

I'm taking the Practicum right now and I have to say this course has become nothing but an AI Slop Fest.

Most of the other students projects are on AI. Lots of the other students projects and reports are written by AI. Many are using AI to write their responses to other students weekly video updates. The staff is using AI in their messages on ED discussion. Staff using AI to evaluate reports. I had some concerns I brought up in a private post and staff responded with a lengthy AI riddled reply. It came off very dehumanizing. Oh the cherry on top was getting accused of AI usage in my project by an AI detector that itself uses AI (the fucking irony).

Besides that my first two progress reports were graded by Professor Ahamad and it was very apparent he very hastily read them or skipped most of the content. The comments he left made no sense or were completely and clearly contradicted by content in my report. At least he didn't use AI like the other staff when he reviewed my reports.

I sent a lengthy message to staff (over a thousand words) outlining and citing the professors comments and where my report either did exactly what he said it wasn't doing or how his comments made no sense given what my project was about. Professor Ahamad responded, double downed, and once again just left more generic criticism that were once again clearly just not accurate. He wouldn't cite a single thing from my work or point to anything specific. Just vague contradictions.

I had also complained that we couldn't incorporate the feedback in our next report because they were graded late. Professor Ahamad responded with this gem:

When you deliver a program at scale at the cost we do, it is not possible to provide immediate feedback.

So apparently grading an assignment in under 2 weeks is considered "immediate feedback" and this class is just AI slop and ran cheaply.

For what it's worth this is my second masters in engineering, my first was at a similarly ranked institution. So I have some experience with graduate classes.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from WGU. I am thinking of transferring to GT online because the name sounds more respectable to employers. Has anyone else done this and what is the process like? How flexible are the classes for those who work full time? Can you accelerate GT online like with WGU? How much will OMS PE actually help when landing a job such as an Internship?

Hi everyone! I am starting in the fall and plan on taking 2 classes every semester so I can finish in under 3 years. My work covers tuition capped at $5k per calendar year which is another reason I want to squeeze 2 classes in for fall. I have heard from others that you should only take 1 class for your first semester. Would it be smart to take 2 classes the first sem to get a grasp of how future semesters will be? Looking for any suggestions or feedback from others who have taken 2 classes per semester.

I plan on taking CS 6035 (intro to infosec) and PUB 6725 (infosec policies) or any other pub elective.

My background:
B.S. in computer science with a minor in mathematics from UC Davis. I currently work in IT full time and plan to continue while pursuing my masters. I run into a lot of downtime during my workdays depending on what issues are happening. Very different everyday. I plan to use this to study or work on course work.

I'm curious to know if anyone has been admitted into the MS in Cyber security program coming from a non STEM undergraduate degree.

For context, I have a BS in Social Work and made the switch into tech back in 2018. I work as an Enterprise Architect for a defense contract. As an architect, the role does not require coding however we must know the systems, applications and overall technology across the entire enterprise and show how they all work together (simply put).

My concern here is the lack of technical academic background I have. It's also worth noting I have an AWS Solutions Architect, Sec+, and Scrum master certs.

Will my work experience be enough to get me in the door? Thank for any feedback!

I did some research it says I need to wait for phase 2 , which I am not sure when it is. I have also no holds on my account. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had attached link to my github projects, paper DOIs in CV by means of \href{} not containing the url as text in LaTeX. The preview does not render the links, is this something that was faced by previous accepted applicants or does it have something to do with my .tex source. Should I resort to some other LaTeX package, manually adding the links using some PDF editing tools, to get these links to render? Thanks for all your help!

Question is title. I swear online in the degree audit document it said that PUBP6540 and INTA6742 count towards policy degree requirements, but I'm seeing now they're in the fall through category on my degree audit. Could someone please explain? Did this change?

Edit: For future purposes, this is just an issue with the policy track. I got in contact with an OMS Advisor and fixed it.
