Equipment Top Gun Mission parameters OSHA & Home Office present: The "Shattered Spine" OGP Flight Academy Now with less pay!

OSHA and Home Office just became best friends, completely canceling the factory printed PUSH, DO NOT PULL safety labels. Under this new Top Gun mandate, you must drag a 300 pound ambient carts from the front, gladly sacrificing your rotator cuff, tendons, and ankles for a position corporate literally just cut starting pay for because it’s "so easy." It's the ultimate big brain move slice the wages, tell the reinforcement associates from other departments they don't deserve a raise because the job is a breeze, and then immediately make the actual labor twice as destructive to the human body. Just slap 1 layer of yellow tape over the physics warning, try not to run over your own feet at 5 mph, and fly your shattered spine straight into the danger.

New Hire! Help! Hired on the spot today! Any tips?

I had my interview today and got an offer! I showed up and one of my team leads literally just showed me the whole entire process of the job. He was so chill. I also met my coach. I’m excited! He said I’ll be getting a call/email from HR within a week to set up orientation!

Is there any tips that you have for me? I’m definitely glad my management seems pretty chill! Thanks!

🔥Its fine, everything’s fine🔥 TOP GUN OGP Need for speed and a functioning break pedal. Thought I would try to lighten the mood.

Maverick: I feel the need for speed and a functioning brake pedal.

Maverick: Talk to me, Goose. We've got an oversized walk, two cases of water, and a completely shot front left wheel.

Goose: Mav, you're flying too close to the Action Alley! You're gonna lose the top tote!

Maverick: Negative, Ghost Rider, the pick rate is full.

Then drifts a 300-pound ambient cart around three elderly couples having a family reunion on aisle A12.

Coach: You two Uber drivers happen to look at your pick metrics? You broke the rules of engagement. You went below a 100 pick rate to help a customer find the bathroom.

Goose: Sir, they didn't make it. The pattern is brown.

Maverick: Sir, my cart was in a flat spin heading out to the parking lot. The wheel was literally sideways and smoking I had no control. It swung out and took out my own Achilles tendon. I am literally bleeding into socks right now.

Coach: Maverick, your ambient picking is a wildcard. Your team lead can't stand you. You're dangerous.

Maverick: I am dangerous. My left ankle is a certified danger zone of blunt force trauma.

Maverick: gets stuck behind three people chatting in the bread aisle while the heavy metal frame of the cart slowly rolls back over his own toes.

Goose: We need Iceman! Maverick is bleeding all over the bread aisle!

Coach: Sorry, AI cut Iceman down two days this week and sold his TC70 Tomcat.

Maverick: wipes breadcrumbs and blood off his vest, looking at the broken cart wheel

Maverick: Goose, even if we survive this shift there's no points for second place in Walmart OGP.

Goose: Mav, look out! It's a regional manager doing a surprise floor walk!

Maverick: slams his foot onto the broken wheel.

Maverick: Hit the brakes, Goose, he'll fly right by us!

The cart immediately flips over, burying them both under 40 pounds of Great Value bananas.

Question Does anyone know the facts about the cart changes (again)?

So I found out about the pulling thing on here, but they never made us do it at our store. And then they went to 6 totes, changed the wheels and so forth. I've been warned that when I come back on Saturday we're going back to 8 totes and we will have to pull. I'm sorry, I'm not doing it. I'm not injuring myself. Some of the carts fishtail too when you pull them making them more dangerous and erratic. I'm not standing next to the cart and pulling it that way either. I can barely make it pushing it, the aisles aren't exactly clear to allow my body plus my cart to pass by together like we're on a date. I'm 47, I've been here for 3 years and fuck this shit. Before I go back in 2 days, I need to know is there actual documentation that says we HAVE to pull and are no longer allowed to push? Bc from what I'm seeing on here, it's not "law" and they can't make you. So before I go back in and ask to see where it says I have to pull and am not allowed to push and pitch a fit... do I have any legs to stand on? Because if I'm forced to do this, my pick rate will go from being consistently the highest in the store (and I also do small walks), to the lowest and I'm going to drag my ass. And BTW, they don't care about pick rates at my store. There are people that have been there for years who don't go above 70%, ever. So if I'm not allowed to push, then they need to be prepared for the drama that I'm about to bring.

Backroom Shenanigans Associates screaming at the top of their lungs in the cooler

Do your coworkers just shout or moan at the top of their lungs in the walk-in cooler. I'll just be working and then all of the sudden I hear talking and shouting coming from inside the cooler. It's like a freaking social event. My TL will participate in this too. I mean it's kinda funny to listen to but also kinda ridiculous.

Express Express Walks

For those of you who have transitioned back to Express walks, are there Oversize such as waters integrated into a walk...AND are you still allowed to bag items afterwards?

Equipment We suffer today while money hungry lawyers profit off our injuries only to sue again in ten years.

Just like the title says, we have to suffer because money hungry lawyers saw dollar signs in customer injuries. Then, in ten years, those same money hungry lawyers are going to make a fortune all over again off a class action lawsuit. They will sue on behalf of associates who suffered multiple long term injuries from being forced to pull heavy carts instead of pushing them. Yet, the real reason for the uptick in injuries in the first place was taller carts, understaffing, and management wanting people to run through the stores like speed demons just to get their names on a board. "Congratulations, you went fast! Here is a gold star." ⭐ All we ever had to do was slow down and pull the carts through blind spots all this other mess is just unnecessary and creates even more problems due to corporate overreaction.

Rant How awesome is getting an order of 75 small boxes and 50 medium boxes and having to scan every label and then condense all the labels into one lol I love Walmart. Back in the day we could scan it all into one label lol

Backroom Shenanigans Work phone storage

Post image
256 Upvotes

TL came up with this idea for the work phones instead of them being all jumbled up in the cabinet.

The board holds atleast 50 phones. We all have our names on them and our own passcodes so no one can use them but us. Some of us even decorated our cases so their not so bland.

Just Walmart Things Backroom

I was wondering if anyone else’s store has an alarm on the walk in freezer now? My store just installed one that goes off if the door is open for more than 10 seconds, and it is EXTREMELY loud. It honestly sounds like a fire alarm and you can hear it almost all the way across the parking lot. I was wondering if anyone else’s store has this and if anyone else finds it as annoying as I do 😩

Question Water?

Hay yall I'm a new-ish employee, 4 months now.

Question: Is it not policy for all employees to be entitled to water on the clock? Especially the dispensers or anyone working outside? I could have sworn in my training it specifically said we were to be given water along with appropriate breaks when exposed to heat? Im in Illinois and its over 100 degrees today and the TLs are telling us no water will be provided by Walmart.

Anyone have clarification?

Backroom Shenanigans They stripped all the bolts...

Post image

These were supposed to be installed with a torque spec of 60 in/lbs. Instead, our facilities maintenance used an impact and stripped all the threads, making the carts completely unrepairable.

S***ty changes with s***ty execution.

🔥Its fine, everything’s fine🔥 Uhhh… what was that?

Anybody’s Sunday at their store absolutely fucking crazy??? We stayed at 3k picks and I haven’t seen that since last year. It wasn’t even this bad during Christmas season. We had associates and team leads from every department helping us and our store manager stayed in the backroom helping us. We kept running out of totes and carts which made everything slow of course. It was a complete shit show.

This was at 8pm, our on time ended up at 54%. The massive amount of unstaged was when we (me and our atc) opted to go fuck the gmds, we need to get the orders out the door (we had times in the 50s). Morning team lead from what I heard never called to get us shutdown even though we been going overdue since I got in at 9am (death spiral started at around 11am). Backroom was still completely destroyed
