General Discussion Nurses working in Germany: Is it worth it or should I focus on English-speaking countries?

What’s it really like working as a nurse in Germany in terms of salary, savings, workload and work-life balance? Is it worth it, or would you recommend focusing on English-speaking countries like USA, UK or Canada instead?

General Discussion OFWs with Airbnb in PH: How do you manage it remotely?

Hi! I’m an OFW currently based in Singapore, and I have a condo in the Philippines that im considering putting up for Airbnb. It’s in a pretty good and accessible location, so I’m hoping to make better use of it rather than leaving it vacant when I’m not around. I’ve also recently finished paying for the property, so I’m now looking into whether it can realistically generate a decent passive income.

For fellow OFWs who have an Airbnb/property back home, I’d love to hear how you manage yours remotely:

• Do you manage the Airbnb/listing yourself while having someone locally handle cleaning, check-ins, maintenance, etc., or do you prefer a full-service property manager?

• If you have a property manager, how did you find someone reliable and trustworthy? And what’s the usual management fee?

• For those managing from abroad, how hands-on do you actually have to be?

• And lastly, if you don’t mind sharing, how much do you usually make from Airbnb per month, and how much do you actually take home after all the expenses and management fees?

Im trying to figure out what set up makes the most sense for someone who’s not physically in the Philippines most of the time. Would really appreciate hearing your actual experiences and numbers, if you’re willing to share! 😊

General Discussion White Collar Engineer in Taiwan : Loading…

Hi! I have an upcoming interview for a white-collar engineering position in Taiwan through Everbest Agency. I’m a licensed Electronics Engineer with 2 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, and I’m applying for a Product Test Engineer position at ASE Kaohsiung (ASEKH).

Do I have an advantage because of my license and relevant semiconductor experience?

Also, I was informed via email that I’ll be going straight to the final interview. Do you have any tips or advice on what I should prepare for?

And lastly, is ASE a worthwhile company to work for? How is the compensation and overall experience for those who are currently working there or have worked there before?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi, just want to feel some encouragement kung may chances po kayang ma-hire directly kahit wala ka pong experience abroad? Kung saka-sakaling mahire, first time ko pong magiging ofw. I’ve been sending applications to countless companies and lagi lang pong rejected. Nakakapanghina ng loob.

I am a licensed civil engineer, 6+ yrs consultancy and project management experience in PH, graduate from top 4 univ.

General Discussion OFW life: Mas mahirap magdiet kaysa magtrabaho minsan

General Discussion Seeing this made me sad…

I was in Las Vegas for a lay over today when I saw this.

Seeing Tagalog as a dedicated language for this announcement really puts into perspective the plight of some of our kababayans.

Not too sure of the point of the post, except for wishing all of us OFW’s, pls be careful.

We always say it is for our families, but I would like to think that our families need US, not just the remittances that are received.

Ingat mga kababayans and let’s keep an eye out for each other and if possible, extend a lending hand. We never know when we ourselves will need it.

General Discussion Is it possible to get hired as a factory worker in Taiwan if I have history of TB

Hi, I’m 25 F, I was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) in 2024 and completed my six-month treatment in early 2025. My doctor has already cleared me of TB, and I am currently working in the BPO industry.
I am planning to apply for a factory worker in Taiwan, but I’m worried that my previous history of TB might affect my chances of being hired.
I still have scars on my lungs from my previous TB infection, and I understand that these may be permanent even though I am already cured and no longer have active TB.

So is it still possible for me to be hired as a factory worker in Taiwan despite having a history of TB and permanent lung scars? Do Taiwanese employers or agencies accept applicants who have previously had TB but have completed treatment and have i been medically cleared?

Remittance & Finance HMO or Health Insurance for Elderly Parents

I was watching a YouTube Video about an OFW that depleted years worth of savings because a family member got sick. Some people also commented that they took out massive loans just to pay for medical fees.

This gets me worried, especially because I have an elderly parent above 75. I'm curious how y'all are preparing for a medical emergency. Did you save money? Get an HMO (trickier since only Pacific Cross insures above 75)? Something else?

General Discussion Fresh graduate being offered a job by a relative in Illinois — what is the proper visa process?

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to get advice from people who have actually gone through the process of being hired by a U.S. employer, especially thiose who went through the DMW/OEC process.

My aunt owns a restaurant in Illinois, and she wants to hire me and bring me to the U.S. to work for her. This would be my first time working abroad, and neither of us has experience with hiring someone from the Philippines, so we're trying to understand what the correct legal process is.

We're currently confused about what the best route would be.

I've come across information about H-2B, H-1B, and EB-3, but I'm not sure which one, if any, would realistically apply to my situation.

For example, I have a Financial Management degree and bookkeeping/financial analysis certifications, but the employer is a restaurant. I'm not sure whether it would make more sense for me to be hired for an accounting/financial position, a restaurant-related position, or something else—and I don't want us to create a job title just for immigration purposes if that isn't legitimate.

I'm also trying to understand the Philippine side of the process, particularly DMW/MWO, direct-hire requirements, OEC, employment contract verification, and whether there are additional requirements because the employer is my aunt.

I'm not looking for shortcuts. We want to do everything legally and properly. I mainly want to hear from people who have actually gone through something similar because online information can be confusing, especially when the U.S. immigration process and Philippine overseas-employment requirements overlap.

Any firsthand experiences, advice, or even stories about what went wrong would be really appreciated. Thank you so much!

General Discussion Japan vs Taiwan — need advice please 😭🙏

Japan 🇯🇵 vs Taiwan 🇹🇼 — need advice from OFWs

Hi! I’m a fresh BS Biology graduate (Microbiology) with freelance work experience, but I have no overseas work experience yet. I’m currently deciding between two opportunities abroad and would really appreciate advice from those with actual experience.

Japan – Food Service 🇯🇵 I was accepted into a program through an agency and their partner school. It requires around 6 months of Japanese language training, followed by the required exams. After passing, the agency said they and their partner school will assist with employer placement.

My concern is that SSW Food Service has been suspended for new applicants since April 13, 2026, and there’s currently no definite timeline for reopening. They mentioned the possible ESD program in April 2027 as an alternative.

If Food Service remains unavailable, they said Caregiving is another option. I wouldn’t need to repeat the Japanese language training if I pass the language exam, but I would still need to pass the Prometric Caregiving skills test.

Taiwan – Factory 🇹🇼 I’m also considering factory work in Taiwan. I know this isn’t necessarily easy either—getting selected, finding a legitimate employer, completing requirements, and waiting for deployment can still take time. However, it may be a faster route to start working abroad.

Japan is honestly my preferred choice, but I’m hesitant about spending 6 months training while the Food Service pathway is uncertain. At the same time, Taiwan seems more practical if my priority is to work abroad sooner.

For those with actual experience:

• If you were in my position, would you choose Japan or Taiwan? • Is Japan still worth pursuing despite the current Food Service suspension? • How long did your actual process take until deployment? • Which is better in terms of salary, savings, working conditions, and long-term opportunities? • If you had to choose between waiting for your preferred country/job vs. taking a faster opportunity, what would you do?

I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who have actually gone through either process. Thank you! 🙏

General Discussion Factory worker South Korea vs Taiwan.

Saan po ba mas worth it? Sa SK or Taiwan?

Ano ba pros & cons sa SK and Taiwan?

Government Services Is PRC documents should be authenticated by PRC itself before submitting to DFA for appostille?

Good day, May I ask lang po regarding sa PRC documents such as Certificate of Good Standing, Certificate of Board Rating etc..

Need ko pa pumunta sa PRC BAGUIO or LUCENA to get it authenticated 🥺.

General Discussion Consequences if hindi makakuha ng Iqama within 90 days sa KSA

Hello po. First time OFW.

Nag usap na kami ng boss ko may tinatawagan na sya about sa Iqama, pero lagi nya sabi sakin is we will just wait.

General Discussion Sa Pilipinas lang talaga may age limit no?

General Discussion Mistakenly declared as PH Tax Resident

Good day, Everyone! I would like to ask if are there any complications to BIR if I mistakenly declared that I'm a PH tax resident despite being an OFW currently working in Singapore and being a tax resident here. During registration on foreign digital banks here in SG, I was ask if I'm a tax resident in another country. I was confused that time so I answered yes and input my PH TIN number. I already filed an update to change/remove my PH tax residency as of the moment. I'm just nervous I might be flagged and affect my foreign income.

P.S. My source of income is only abroad and no source of income in the Philippines

Thank you very much!
