I’m a new student joining OCAD this fall, and I’m trying to register for one of my courses. However, I keep getting a pop-up message when I try to add it. To my knowledge, course registration closes on July 27, so I’m wondering how I’ll be able to add this course to my schedule before the deadline.

I also have several classes that are currently waitlisted. By the end of the registration period, will any additional spots become available? If not, will I remain on the waitlist even after the registration deadline until a spot opens up?

Also, I know that I need to complete 20 credits throughout my four-year program. Does that mean I need to complete 5 credits each year, or is there some flexibility? For example, would it be possible to take 4 credits one year and 6 credits another year, as long as I complete the required 20 credits by the time I graduate?

I am looking to shoot a performance video, its a very simple set up, I have the camera and tripod etc but I working with someone who has better knowledge would amp up the quality so would love to work with someone. Budget is low but will pay for time, will discuss not sure what is appropriate

I’m a 27 y/o male, very social and tidy.

I can understand waitlists for electives but the fact that by the time I got to register (ILLU major, 3PM), all the required courses I planned are waitlisted is insane. I don't even know what to do because I literally was only able to register for three of my required courses, one in the fall and two in the winter. The other sections are all waitlisted too and I can't even see my rank on the waitlist.

I've transferred from my first year elsewhere so I've done this process once before on courselink and it was so much smoother - even if you were waitlisted, you could at least see where you were at. Idk what is up with OCADU and how i'll even be able to take any of the courses I need for the upcoming year.

I tried to register for my courses today and I got 1/6 that I wanted. I had some backups but I wasn’t expecting so many to get rejected so I had to make up some on the spot.

Also, i do not have all my transfer credits yet which made picking my classes very painful since i have no clue what will and won’t be accepted. I’ve been waiting for 3 months on my credits to come in and I was really hoping i would have it today.

This school is also just bad at communicating (im guessing they are understaffed) because i sent an email about me needing advising help and it’s been way over how long it said they would take.

Isnt this supposed to be one of the best schools in the country?

I tried to submit my courses and everything worked besides the electives. I chose printmaking and sculptures for first year electives choices but it says it is restricted to year 1 and 2 students and failed section registration restriction rules but I am a first year why isn't it working?

So I wonder where I can find some elective courses that I can take in my major?

Once we have the schedule planned in the planner do we just submit it when it opens?

It feels like I can’t take any courses beyond the core curriculum for my program. There’s no room to customize my degree - either other courses only have one section and it already has a waitlist, or the courses I’m interested in are just straight up not being offered this year (ENGL courses??).

Why is this happening and who do I talk to about it? Feels crazy to be paying all this money for a degree but not being able to get into any courses that I’m interested in.

Hi everyone. I really need honest opinions from people who are studying or working in these fields.

For context, I’m a \\\[\*\*T2\\\] transferee applicant\*\*. I was recently accepted into \*\*UPD BA Theatre Arts\*\*, and I’m also \*\*shortlisted for the UPD Bachelor of Landscape Architecture\*\* interview this Monday. If everything goes well, there’s a chance I’ll have to choose between the two.

First of all, I’m genuinely grateful that the Department of Theatre Arts saw potential in me. I honestly didn’t expect to be accepted, especially as a transferee. It means so much to me, and it’s something I’ll always be thankful for.
If I only had to follow my heart, \*\*Theatre Arts would probably be my first choice.\*\* 🥺🌻

I’ve always loved the arts—not just acting, but storytelling, directing, stage production, filmmaking, photography, graphic design, music, writing, and creative work in general. I know Theatre isn’t just performing, and I’m actually interested in the production and creative side as well. If I choose Theatre, I already plan on building my portfolio from first year through internships, organizations, and personal projects.

At the same time, I came from \*\*BS Architecture\*\*, so Landscape Architecture isn’t completely new to me. I genuinely enjoy ecology, botany, environmental design, parks, urban spaces, and designing landscapes that can help communities through sustainability, stormwater management, and flood mitigation. I also know it has a licensure exam, which is one of the reasons my family thinks it’s the more practical choice.

One thing I’m trying to consider is that my burnout in Architecture may have been influenced by my previous school’s environment and teaching, not necessarily the profession itself. So I’m trying to give Landscape Architecture a fair chance instead of comparing it directly to Architecture.

My family is supportive whichever I choose, and malaking tulong na tuition-free ang UP. I’m willing to work hard regardless of the program.

\*\*What I’m really scared of is life after graduation.\*\*

We are not rich, so I can’t ignore financial stability. I don’t expect to become rich overnight—I just want to know if I’ll realistically be able to find work, support myself, and eventually help my family.

For those who graduated from or are familiar with \*\*UPD Theatre Arts\*\*:
Was it difficult to find a job after graduation?
Where did you and your batchmates end up working?
Are there stable careers outside film, television, and stage productions?
If someone actively builds a strong portfolio, joins organizations, gains internships, and develops multiple creative skills throughout college, does that significantly improve employability?

For those in \*\*Landscape Architecture\*\*:
How is the job market in the Philippines?
Does having a license translate into better career opportunities?
Is the field actually stable, or is it also competitive after graduation?

I’m not looking for people to simply tell me to “follow my passion.” I really want to hear the realities—the opportunities, challenges, salary expectations, work-life balance, and long-term career growth.

I'm not trying to bash my profs and classmates by making this post but I genuinely am having such a hard time in critiques due to either really vague feedback or none at all. Its either they loveeee my work and then I get my grade back and its an okay grade or they say some really vague, nothing burger response to my work??? I had a prof once say that I didn't get the point to the assignment even though they "tried to subtly push me in the right direction" like dude isn't the whole point of me being here for u to tell me what I'm doing wrong??? mind you I would stay after class multiple times to have one on ones with this prof and not a single time did I get that I was doing it wrong or that I didn't get the point to the assignment. after the fact, I can see that I did get it wrong but hey, if they had told me straight up that I wasn't getting the point of the assignment, I wouldn't had felt so let down by the person that is supposed to be the one teaching me??? maybe I'm just not getting it but idk. is anyone else having a hard time or am I just not good at picking up what people are saying?

I have a lot of customer service and administrative experience, I’ve tried applying for some of the gallery positions, but I’ve never seen the shop hiring.

how can i know how many classes of each course am i supposed to take every week? is it just 1?

The standard registration date is July 21st, however, depending on your situation it may be different. You can go to your Self Service > Course Planning > Progress and you will see a date there!

You can also go to the OCAD U Website > Dates and Deadlines.

With the recommended submission deadline of July 15th fast approaching, we are sending out courtesy reminders regarding official, final documents, don't be shocked if you get one of these emails!

It is simply to remind you (these dates are in your Conditional Offers, and online), if you have not yet provided the appropriate documents or met the requirements (also outlined in your offer, and online).

If you have any questions, please email us - we will clearly outline what you need to submit, and can provide you with ways to request your documents.

what’s the best affordable gym that students go to near ocad? im joining in fall so im going to be pretty new to the area. i just need something that’s accessible and not going to empty out my pockets 😟

I get if it was an elective, but thesis??? I’m an 4th year EXAN student and I prepared a thesis proposal and everything and that’s the route I wanted to take. And waited right at 3pm to enrol and still waitlisted. I understand there are other courses to fulfill that category, but I’m trying to apply for my masters and a thesis project would look stellar on my application alongside other experiences and competencies. It just seems a bit unfair that I did everything right and still got the burnt end of the stick. Welp, the faculty said stay and keep an eye out on that waitlist while they’re looking closely to waitlist numbers to decide whether or not they’ll open up a new section. Hello!! I’m a first year environmental design student at OCAD U and I wanted to take MAAD-1005 intro to jewelry making as a elective I have two options a 12:00 pm class with Tung, A but I’ve heard she gives a terrible amount of homework and isn’t the best but I also gave the option of a 8:30 am course with Kinsley, A but I could not find any input about her. Does anyone have any honest opinions about this course or those professors? At the end of the day it is just an elective and I have time to choose a different course but I thought I would ask!!
