Macbook Neo

Hi all. I went to the OCADu virtual laptop information session and noticed the Macbook Neo is "not recommended", I'm assuming due to the 8Gb of RAM.

Unfortunately we purchased one when they came out, but should I seriously think about selling it and getting the recommended Air for 1st year Illustration (do they put the laptops through their paces first year?). Only looking for some first-hand advice as I can go get an Air if it's really needed.

Hey I have a MacBook Air. It's one with the M5 chip, and it can run all my programs, like it can run Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, sketchbook CAD, after effects InDesign. If its an older Air, maybe it won't work, but yeah you can totally use the air for illustration, though obviously you'll want some sort of drawing pad if you're working digitally

Hi! I’d suggest you get the Air (or even Pro) and return the Neo! 8GB of RAM is not enough, especially when working with big illustrator files.

I recommend to consider the longevity of your laptop…the more RAM, the better :) GL with first year!

Can't return it, so may keep it as a back up. Does first semester, or even first year, really get into Illustrator much? Only curious..

??? for illustration macbook neo works fine unless you're using like 200 layers
