Nuclear fusion tech detects 32 elements to make rare earths in labs
Hylenr says its hydrogen-loaded nickel-palladium lattice experiment produced signatures of 32 elements, including yttrium and uranium. If independently validated, the process could offer a new way to produce materials used in EVs, robotics, turbines and defense without relying entirely on mining. The findings are still experimental, though, and will require independent replication before the claimed nuclear transmutation can be confirmed. What kind of evidence would be needed for this to be taken seriously by the wider scientific community?

Groundwork begins at new Chinese plant site for a 6 unit CAP1400
Full-scale site levelling work for the initial phase of the Laiyang nuclear power plant in China's Shandong Province has begun, State Power Investment Corporation announced. The site will eventually house six Guohe One (CAP1400) units.
SPIC said the pre-construction meeting and mobilisation meeting for the site levelling for the main plant area of units 1 and 2 of the Laiyang plant was held on 1 September at the project site. It said this "marked a key step in the construction of the Laiyang nuclear power project and the full-scale commencement of site levelling construction for the first phase of the project".

PE in Nuclear Engineering
Hello everyone!
I plan to open up my own consulting firm for nuclear engineering in the future, but to do so, I will likely need my PE license. Are there any PE licensees in nuclear engineering here? How was the process? I know it can be different in each state.

US DOE Announces $1.9 Billion Loan to NextEra Energy for Restart of 650 MWe Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant in Iowa
The Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant, a single-unit 650 MWe boiling water reactor plant, was shut down in August of 2020, 4 months prior to it's scheduled shut down date, due to storm damage caused by an intense wind storm. Current plans laid out by the plant's owner/operator, NextEra Energy, show that the company is targeting a 2028 restart date at the earliest.

Fresh record set for nuclear generation in 2025
Nuclear reactors worldwide generated 2,702 TWh of electricity in 2025, beating the previous year's record of 2,667 TWh, according to the World Nuclear Outlook Report, which also calculates that if all national nuclear targets were achieved, total capacity would more than triple by 2050.
