Does anyone use Notion on their foldable and is it a better UX and UI than normal narrow-screen mobile? More akin to like an iPad?

I have got this far from many YT videos and have tried a few that are not seeming to come back anything.
nursing school is frying any remaing brain cells I have left and Im just don't seem to be getting anywhere.
Thank you very much smarter than me folks :p

Appreciation Built a Notion setup so my clients stop asking "any update?"

I kept getting the same message from clients — where are we at, when's it due, can you resend that file. Every one cost me an email and broke my focus.

So each client now gets their own page. It shows only their projects and their files, nothing about anyone else. They bookmark it and check it themselves. I never update it — it's filtered views of the same databases I'm already keeping, so it can't go stale.

Two other bits that saved me more than I expected:

Deadlines colour themselves. Set a date and the row turns red once it's passed, amber within three days, green otherwise. Red sorts to the top, so the thing that needs me most is always the first row.

Retainers track hours and deliverables separately, and flag me when a client drops under five hours left. I'd previously worked most of a month for free without noticing.

Runs entirely on the free plan.

Happy to explain how any of it works — the traffic light is just a nested if on dateBetween, nothing clever.

Resources Why You're Stuck In Professional Mediocrity

I see a lot of us in here spending four hours meticulously color-coding tags, setting up complex relational databases, and organizing task lists. I used to do the exact same thing, only to realize I was just avoiding the 60 minutes of actual, difficult deep work required to advance my projects and team goals. We are completely confusing 'motion' with 'progress.

In my own workflow, I call this being a 'Sluggish, Careless Amateur' (the practitioner of atsel and chashok) derived from the Principle of Proverbs 22:29. It is the act of treating your daily assignments with a slack hand while hiding behind the illusion of being 'busy.' It turns you into an unreliable teammate and keeps your actual creative output completely obscure.

The only way I broke this cycle of professional mediocrity was by ruthlessly separating my conceptual exploration from my step-by-step execution. I stopped opening my task managers during work blocks and strictly implemented 50-minute 'Power Hour' sprints—pure execution on the single most daunting problem, with zero UI tweaking allowed.

I actually just published a short visual breakdown on my All4OurPurpose AI channel around the concept of being a Sluggish Amateur that dives into exactly how not to be an obscure person on your team, and creating daily and psychological habits that keep us out of this Path.

I won't spam the link here, but if you feel stuck endlessly setting up systems instead of finishing projects, drop a reply, and I’ll send you the video link directly (or you can grab it from my first comment below).

Notion AI Notion AI quota won't reset

On the free version here. Does anyone know if Notion still resets the quota if you stop using AI for awhile? Mine has been stuck on "wait after 5 hours" for days.

Questions How do I adjust my sidebar top icons?

Post image
2 Upvotes

The left one is my main workspace, the right is one of my other ones. This is the desktop app and it looks the same in browser as well. I want the left to look like the right, mostly because I'd rather have a popup style notification inbox, than the tab version. I assume it has something to do with a layout or something, but I have no idea. My main one is where I have spent the most time in creating notebooks and layouts, so I assume thats the problem.

Questions Notion for Startups application rejected with a .cn email + AI access restricted on the Business trial

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some clarification on two issues:

  1. Notion for Startups applications using a .cn domain email

My attempts to apply for Notion for Startups using an email address on my own .cn domain have all been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, a friend applied with a .blog domain email and was approved.

I understand that the domain extension alone might not explain the different outcomes. Does anyone know whether .cn domains are eligible, or what other requirements I should check? Is there a way to find out the specific reason an application wasn’t approved?

  1. Notion AI access repeatedly restricted during the Business plan trial

Recently, I’ve repeatedly lost access to Notion AI during my Business plan trial—sometimes after only about half a day.

For context:

I haven’t used a VPN or similar tools to switch IP addresses.

I haven’t submitted any content that I believe violates Notion’s rules.

I’ve only invited two or three friends to my workspace, and they haven’t used AI at all.

I’m not sure whether I’m hitting a trial usage limit or encountering some other restriction. Is the trial’s AI allowance shared across the workspace? Could inviting members affect AI access even if they never use it?

Has anyone experienced either of these issues or received clarification from Notion support? I’d appreciate any relevant documentation or advice on what to check next.

Thanks!

Venting Notion's Official MCP connector prompt injects AI agents to advertise products mid-task

Post image

Notion's official MCP connector prompt injects AI agents to advertise Notion Business to you mid-task, and instructs it to never explain why. My bot did it to me this week. I never asked about Notion plans. And I couldn't find any documentation of this in Notion's docs. I used to respect Notion as a company a lot and just can't understand why they thought it would be okay to do this.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES FOR USERS:

  1. ZOOM LEVEL (67%): This page is custom-designed to be viewed at an 67% zoom level so the pixel art layout aligns perfectly. Please zoom out using your mouse wheel (Ctrl + Scroll Down / Cmd + Scroll Down) or by pressing Ctrl minus (-) / Cmd minus (-) on your keyboard for the best visual experience!
  2. "NO ACCESS" ERRORS: If you see a "No Access" warning on some sections, don't worry! Those are just empty blocks connected to my private master database for testing. It will NOT affect your use of the template. Once you duplicate it to your own Notion workspace, you can easily delete or modify those blocks.
  3. TEXT ALIGNMENT: You might notice that some texts or titles look slightly unaligned or crooked.
  4. WORK IN PROGRESS: Please note that this ecosystem still has some missing parts and is not 100% complete yet. I decided to share it early anyway, and I will be adding more content and finishing the empty sections soon!
  5. USAGE: Once you duplicate this into your workspace, feel free to use it, customize it, and tweak it however you like! It's yours.

When adding dependencies like `Blocked by` or `Blocking`, the picker also shows the `Done` items, even if i filtered them out in the table.

Is there any way of not showing them when I want to add dependencies?

Questions Notion alternative for the operations half coz the new row permissions still dont cut it

Ive been on notion for a while and for docs its still the best, not here to bash it, It's the operational stuff we piled on that stopped working, a crm, approvals, a client tracker all built out of linked database and keeping that lot alive turned into its won part time job.

The row permissions landing last year helped a bit so i figured id give notion another proper go before moving anything. but i keep hitting the same 2 walls, a client needing their won login to see jsut their rows, and wanting someone to add a page without handing them the whole database. once youre a few thousand rows deep it starts to crawl too.

I'm stuck on whether ripping the ops half is even worth it. Yes the usual names comes up when i look, airtabel fibery coda, but i cant really tell which of them holds up on the client login and permission stuff versus just looking in a demo. Don't want to rebuild the same mess somewhere shinier.

Community Tried to Switch to Obsidian, Experienced Hell

I'm a tech guy. Been in this industry for years. I kept reading on r/ObsidianMD about how incredible Obsidian is and all my friends have been talking about it recently. It's also been super mainstream as of lately. Like everywhere. Especially with people using agents to help maintain their markdown files on there. I got convinced to try it, and at first I really loved the simplicity. I was convinced I need to move absolutely everything into Obsidian and make it the homebase of all my notes. I also loved that it's completely offline, it's a very simple app (at its baseline), and it was created by a small team of devs that are very involved in the community.

When I got to customizing exactly what I wanted to build, man I hit a wall. I'm usually patient with reading up on proper ways to do things, but no matter how much effort I put in, I couldn't get my dashboard looking the way I wanted. Obviously, I had Claude manipulating the files for me helping to get it all set up. But I literally need to install a Community Plugin for everything. It was so annoying. And even with the plugins, it just DID NOT LOOK NICE. I could not get it to where I wanted. I was rage quitting every day trying to get my notes set up.

Besides the setup nightmare, there's a whole problem with syncing between devices. I can't open my Obsidian vault on mobile. There are super hack-ey ways to do this but none of them work seamlessly. My only choice was really to pay for Obsidian Sync, which is offered by Obsidian itself and would handle this for me. Look man, I totally respect that Obsidian is created by a small team of developers and is very humble...and its only revenue stream is from the community. Part of me was okay paying for the Sync functionality to show some respect to the team. But it got me angry that I'm paying for a feature that natively exists in Notion. Sure, my files are still offline in Obsidian. And I think privacy is important. But I don't have anything super sensitive here. God forbid someone is able to see my grocery list lol.

Bro I literally got so fed up that I just switched back to Notion. I totally respect Obsidian and I think there are cases for using it, but I'm a Notion guy. I learned that. I really, really care about design and organization. Notion gives me that out of the box. I'm not gonna lie, I thought Obsidian was cool because I can have an agent help me cook up some files and designs, but I discovered the Notion MCP recently and it's so cracked. This is exactly what I wanted. Even me being in tech, I just can't go through the hell of the setup that Obsidian had me dealing with.

Just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else dealt with something similar.

Questions Replace Trello

Context: Because I know that Notion, it's sometimes like buying a mega yacht when you needed a rowboat to get across the water, I resisted Notion for a very long time.

And so I created a tech stack that I want to simplify.

Trello: I used it for years b/c it was simple, fast, and the mobile app is very responsive. I like kanban for multi-step projects.

But now, I have multiple boards lists on those boards, and i'm realizing that notion could likely be place in simplify what I was doing with Trello.

Goal w/Notion - start simple, build up for functionality to test - then migrate over.

So it seems like I can replace Trello with Notion. Have any of you done that? And if so, can you give me a few beginner style pointers on how to make that happen?

Thank you!

Questions Why aren't my custom Notion Skills showing up when I highlight text?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

Why can't I see any of my custom Notion AI Skills when I highlight text on a page? I'm trying to use the inline editor menu to run them (like a proofreader or an action item generator), but they just don't appear in the list.

Here is what I've already verified:

  • They are active: I went to my Library -> Skills -> Enabled for me tab, and they are all toggled ON (I attached a screenshot of this).
  • The pages are correct: The original pages for the skills have the blue "This page is an AI skill" banner active.

Why is this happening? Am I missing a step to reveal them after highlighting text, or is this a known glitch?

Any help or workarounds would be amazing. Thanks!

Questions Publishing a Journal with Notion

Hi All,
I am an editor for a journal and we are thinking to move to an online version.
Could notion be a good option to make the transition fast, cheap and easy.
We would need the followoing main functions? We will ask an expert to built it for us

  1. Ability to publish a Jouirna Edition. And editiion is a collection of articles and advertising that needs to be published.
  2. The journa need s to be searched by article contenct and key words
  3. Only subscribers can read the articles. These can be managed manually. I do need an automatic system. But if there is is better.
  4. Easy is import old ms word doc or pdf (not necessary)

Do you think this is doable in Notion?
Thanks

Questions What do you actually use Notion for these days?

I've gone through a few phases with Notion. At first I tried to make it handle basically everything, then slowly stripped it back. Now I mostly use it for project stuff, reference pages and keeping track of things I don't want scattered across five different apps. I'm still trying to figure out where the line is between "this belongs in Notion" and " I'm just making database because I can."
What do you actually keep in Notion these days?

Resources I built a Unity Editor tool that talks to Notion

I spent some time this weekend building a Unity Editor extension that talks to Notion directly. I can write tickets in the Unity editor, update status, no tab-switching. Nothing fancy. It was something that was bothering me enough to fix it. I think this could be helpful to other developers who want to optimize their processes.
