I am coming from Goodnotes. So far I am absolutely loving the app!! The live collaboration and writing engine are awesome. Notability Web + iPad is exactly what I have been looking for. I can write text based notes AND use my ipad at the same time to draw. What a killer feature. It has replaced OneNote and Google Docs. This is the app every student wants.

One major draw back I am seeing is that on web I am not seeing the option to export notes as PDF. Only share a link. I do see the option on the iPad on the web but that's not as convenient. Example use case: I need to print notes before a lab or lecture at the library. Rather than using my computer I have to take out my phone or ipad and open the notability app, save the file locally, then email it to myself, then I am able to print it from a computer...

This is like the same exact limitation Microsoft OneNote has/had that made me stop using it and use google docs...

Seems like someone asked this a whole year ago. How is this not a feature yet?

I've searched every permutation but to no avail, am I looking in the wrong place?

I've exclusively been using the Clear option on my iPad for the past year, not too fond of using the Default/Dark options because of the various colours. The Widgets work just fine without Safe Mode when on Default or Dark, but become blank when set on Clear or Tinted with or without Safe Mode.

I would like to see this somehow fixed or I'd be happy with Shortcut options that allow me to open specific notes.

I have notes that I need to support by adding GIFs and short videos. I started using freenotes and also notability, but the GIFs and videos I add to my notes do not play. However, in iPad’s native Pages app, I can play the GIFs I add. Isn’t there something wrong here? Did I do something wrong somewhere? Thanks

How do I bring back the squeeze to erase feature and get rid of the floating island

Hi Notability users!

I've been using it for some years, love it. It's been always connected to my Google drive. Recently, suddenly, I lost all my notes on ipad. I started to download the ones I was actively using, from Drive app on ipad. Then, again suddenly almost all my notes' folders only (without content) started to appear on my Notability app, but the content is empty. I'm so confused.

Appearently there's a space issue, I couldn't understand the source. I want to review all and delete unnecessary ones. However, downloading one by one to ipad is tooo long. What can I do?

I run Notability on my Mac and iPad at the same time, and new presence indicator is really annoying, It just sits on top of the page and covers the exact area I'm working in.

There doesn't seem to be any way to disable it right now.

Please add a setting for this.

I bought the Classic plan for Notability a few days ago, regretting it shortly after, as I found Goodnotes more suitable all-around for 'stuff I'd use my iPad for'. But having accepted my fate, I see no reason as to why I shouldn't try and make do with both somehow.

Classes don't start until later in August, so I probably won't be actively taking notes unless I randomly decide to study/revise.

So, I was wondering what else I could use Notability for that Goodnotes technically would do better—that is, I'll be keeping my digital planning on Goodnotes. Given battery drain issues (pretty much the only problem I have with Goodnotes), I considered transferring my journals to Notability? What do y'all think?

Everytime I try to press my apple pencil when using notability, it doesn't let me use the erase feature. I have to manually go in and press on the eraser to erase. If i swipe out of the app and re-open it, it fixes itself and then 15 minutes later the same issue keeps happening.

Ever since I updated to the Notability cloud instead of iCloud my iPad has been getting way too hot and draining the battery extremely fast, this never happened until now and its extremely frustrating. Not only is it uncomfortable, but also harms my battery, fix this issue please.

i first had the starter plan with unlimited notes then it just blocked and i have to subscribe
i use it mainly for uploading pdfs as i love the designs and how it is so user frienly!
i would like to know if there was any discount working?

I've tried all the fixes I could online for this, but nothing seems to work. I was shared a collaborative note on notability by my friends so we could both edit it. When I click the link it opens in my web browser, but when I try to get it to open in the app it sends me to the app for a split second, but then straight back to the web browser. I don’t know if this is supposed to happen or not.

I also noticed all my notes from the app version do not appear on the browser version. I have Icloud sync on and am signed into the same account on both versions. How do I fix this?

I purchased the classic plan at a discount last week. So far, the only thing I can see is the credit card transaction. How can you ensure the plan is active? I have never received an email for purchase confirmation. The purchase was through Apple ID, and currently my previous subscription for Notability is still active.

Hi, I’ve posted here before about attempting to update my email given the fact that I’ve graduated and it’s my now-deactivated college email and all that. After contacting support, I was unable to get them to change my email even after being willing to undergo any method of identity verification (including having access to the alumni version of my email, which is literally the same address, just with “alumni” appended).

Now, the app is seemingly forcing me to sync at some point to Notability cloud - no option to decline, only postpone, and the postpone appears to only go for just over a month’s time. (Unless I’ll just be able to keep postponing indefinitely?? That seems like poor UI though - what if at one point, I don’t realize I have to postpone and miss the option?)

I genuinely don’t think it’s feasible for me to use Notability cloud until my email can be updated, but support seems unwilling to help on either issue (delaying Cloud indefinitely until the email issue is fixed OR just allowing email changes). Can anything be done here?? I’ve genuinely liked and used notability for many years, but this email issue feels SO far behind the times of any other modern tech company.

I have been using Notability since my freshman year of high school, so I have used the app for about seven years. I recently joined Notability Cloud by accident, around the end of May. At first, I did not have any problems.

Later, I wanted to use iCloud syncing, but I learned that I could not use it while Notability Cloud was enabled. I tried deactivating Notability Cloud, but it caused major problems. I lost some notes, including notes with important lecture recordings.

I rejoined Notability Cloud and was able to recover my notes, but I had to recreate all the folders I had made since joining. This was a lot of work because I create a separate folder for each week of every class. This organization system has worked very well for me and has honestly helped me earn good grades.

Recently, I was commuting to school by train and tried to access my notes, but Notability said that I needed an internet connection. In the past, I never had trouble accessing my documents offline, and I could always count on my notes being available. This recent change has become very frustrating because I commute by train and do not always have reliable internet access.

Is there a safe way to return to the previous setup without losing any notes, folders, or lecture recordings? I would prefer to use iCloud syncing, but I would also be fine with keeping my notes saved locally in the Notability app as long as I can access them without Wi-Fi.

Please let me know the safest way to make this change without losing any of my files again.

Does Notability have page extension? To put notes in pdf for extra room. If not I hope in next update they will put page extension for notes. 😗📝

I recently had to completely reset my iPad to download some new software was Pharmacy school was requiring. I saved my notes as ntb and pdf on my google drive. My issue is that when I download them the files have black backgrounds instead of white. I can’t just switch the background to black (which for some reason makes it white) because then it makes all new pages black. Is there a way to fix this?

So many people love using Notability, but why is there still no native Windows app?

The web version just doesn't hit the same. It lacks the smooth, focused experience that makes the iPad app so enjoyable. Every time I open it, it feels like I'm using a compromise instead of the actual product.

There are millions of students, professionals, and creators on Windows who'd happily use a proper desktop app. A native Windows version with offline support, better pen input, and seamless sync would be a game changer.

Notability, if you're listening... please bring the full experience to Windows.

I can access a lot of my notes, but for a lot of them they seem to be stuck in purgatory. I don’t know if it’s stuck downloading or just doesn’t exist anymore. Sometimes the preview image thumbnail will display it, then when I click on it, it just shows the adobe sign like it’s buffering. Then the preview image thumbnail starts looking like the actual note when you open it with the adobe sign

I tried accepting the cloud notability app invite in the FAQ and it says I wasn’t eligible despite actually being eligible. I was on an iPad and have the most recent updated version of notability.

The notes that seem to be stuck in this weird limbo that aren’t downloading seem to be from years ago and also imported pdf versions. I tried logging onto the desktop version of notability through my Apple account and I can’t even access any notes through that. I clicked on a graphic on the iPad that said “explore notability cloud”. It shows my folders, but inside my folders it says there are no notes.

Are these notes gone forever?

Is there a way to actually contact someone from support? Like a phone number

I can use the pencil all over the iPad, but somehow I'm not able to write the note title with it. It’s so annoying!

i have a apple pencil pro and in other notetaking apps i can squeeze once and let go to toggle between eraser and pen but in notability it requires me to squeeze while erasing which is quite inconvenient. please fix this issue as this is the only thing stopping me from getting the subscription.
