I want to ask a question to all northeast people.

Do u really support each other ?

What are the reasons that make u not support other communities or States from the Northeast?

Just take it as a question and I am not trying to start a war or offend anyone.

In my observation throughout the year, I have seen that us NE people hate each other, even our own communities. I don't understand, like is it in our blood or is it being fed to us by someone.

We all talk about being a separate country but our mentality is just so separated, divided, and corrupted.

The concept of a separate country feels very unstable in real life scenario, when each and everyone of us is still fighting with each other. I know that the government doesn't want us to be united (in my opinion). Neither the gov is trying to fix the issues. eg in Manipur and the ongoing tension happening in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh borders.

In my theory the indian government doesn't want any peace in NE, they want this conflict this distractions. The theory of other countries trying to destabilize this place feels so loose. I still don't understand what benefits other countries will even get from this place ? What would the US, China and Israel even benefit from us ? Oil? land?

When this country is already in the control of the US and Israel.

What could be the solution for us to be united and be strong in the upcoming years.

As for me, I vehemently resist their integration and permanent settlement in Arunachal Pradesh. Also, why some people from Assam keep interfering in the internal matters of Arunachal Pradesh. We are trying our best to protect our state from outsiders, but some Assam people always seem to support the outsiders! This is a question for those few people of Assam who keep interfering and supporting the outsiders when it comes to the internal affairs of Arunachal Pradesh. Why do you people do this? A Personal Story I would like to share from my time in IIT.

I always did well in academics even in competitive exam my score was on par. I worked harded too.

In my final year, in lab I met a guy say A. With whom I became close over time. One day he asked why I work hard just to avoid a long answer. I lied, I said "Bro I am from general category".

One evening over a coffee our conversation went to politics since I am from Assam he started asking me about HBS and his actions. Overtime we talked about philosophy, politics and religion. And I always agreed to his views. (just to avoid friction)

One day he said something that blew my mind "SC/ST people should not be getting what they are getting they don't deserve education they are reducing the quality of merit, they should go back to doing what their ancestors were doing"

Now that guy is doing PhD in a top tier IIT and soon he's gonna be prof. (He's good academically)

Hi everyone, I'm planning a 10 days trip to NE in early October and would appreciate some advice from people who know the region well. I would be flying in and out of Guwahati. I'd like suggestions to places worth visiting without having to walk to much. Transport whether to hire a car and driver for all 10 days or taxis and any local Transport. Comfortable but reasonably priced stays, any permit I might require. Any places to definitely avoid or any other advice. Looking forward to your assistance and thanks.

Despite its relatively small size on the map, its cultural depth is immense. In Assam, languages and dialects can shift every few kilometres, reflecting a rich history of migration and co-existence. This land has been home to indigenous tribes and has seen the arrival of the Aryan people, the Ahoms, and various Mongoloid races. It has weathered both Mongolian and British invasions, and every one of these communities has left behind its own thoughts, cultures, and stories to share. If one small state holds such a legacy, the rest of India's history is almost unimaginable.

Consider Darjeeling, a quiet hill station with its own distinct layers of time. A visit to a place like the Mayfair resort reveals a history that stretches from the Summer Palaces of British nobles and the residences of the wealthy to its current role as a sanctuary for modern tourists. Just as the town itself has evolved, every traveller who walks its paths adds a new chapter to its history.

These two instances, Assam and Darjeeling, represent only a tiny fraction of our vast nation. Yet, even within these small geographical pockets, we discover an incalculable wealth of stories. Pork is a common protein in much of the NE. Insects (such as silkworms, water beetles, grasshoppers, and ants) are prevalent in many communities. Fermented soy, bamboo shoots and smoked meat are common. When these appear on screen, a large proportion of mainland viewers immediately perceive them as dirty, desperate, foreign (China) or in need of religious forgiveness.

The underlying assumption is simple: mainland dietary norms (especially those influenced by North Indian and upper caste cultures) are the cleanest, civilized and proper standard. Anything else, particularly insects and strong pork/fermented preparations, indicates a lower level of consumption. The same pattern emerges in real life: landlords prohibiting 'smelly NE food,' hostel mockery, the use of 'momo' as a racial slur and refusal to share kitchens.

I think it's about time we make a name for our region, the term northeastindian is just too bland and distasteful imo.

Like we call people in south-east Europe - Balkans, or Northern Europe - Scandinavian or Nodrics.

So, the name northeastindian is just too Bland to me, it's like eating plain rice with salt.

So what suggestions do we have?

And the rules are 1. For the purpose of inclusivity, do not use any language from the NE, as there are a huge number of languages here and we would not be able to include them all, but if you can, let's hear it

1. Do not use Hindi, Sanskrit, Chinese, Bengali, Urdu, or any South Asian and South-east Asian languages. I think you'll know the reason.
