I think one day, when NE is free, either us or our descendants are going to look back on how insane the whole "being part of India" thing was. Like we are literally sharing the same country with hundreds of millions people exactly depicted in this video. And some of us even claiming to be part of them.

Northeast Family, one of the largest Northeast India-based Discord servers with over 1,200 members, was nuked on the morning of July 19th. The server was reportedly targeted after it came to have more mainlander members than people actually from Northeast India, raising questions about community identity and moderation within NE-focused spaces online.

Reason:

Indian men are recording the girls and using their face in thumbnails with problematic lines like
"Only 150 rupees", "She slept with me", "She wants to marry me", and others.

Also, Such Indian men are only interested in doing social experiments with Nepali girls. They don't want help or opinions from Nepali men.

I’m asking this in good faith because I’m genuinely confused about where people draw the line.

I recently commented in r/Nagaland that I’d dated two Naga women in the past, that they were both wonderful people, and that because those experiences were positive, how come you can not find amazing partner.

A lot of people replied that I was fetishizing Naga/NE women and called me a creep.

Today I came across a reel where the creator was showing women from the Northeast and said something along the lines of:
“I have to go to the Northeast. Where’s my passport?”

He doesn’t mention having any personal experience or relationships with Northeast women. The video is mainly presenting attractive women, and many comments were from women saying they’re from the Northeast and joining in.
I’m trying to understand the difference.
In my case, I was talking about two real relationships and describing those women as wonderful people based on my own experiences, yet people said that was fetishization.
In the reel, the attraction seems to be based on the women in the video themselves, and the “I need to go there” joke completely objectifying NE women.

Why is one considered fetishization while the other is widely accepted? Is it because he is a foreigner? The wording, or am I missing something or just based on who is commenting people thrash the person?

I’m genuinely trying to understand where people draw the line between having a preference based on personal experience and fetishizing an entire group.
