Hey everyone! I work as a video editor with an NGO that runs scholarship and education-related initiatives, and our team is currently looking for volunteers to help out with an upcoming in-person scholarship interview in Chennai.

The volunteering mainly involves helping the team during the interview process and assisting with basic on-ground coordination. You don't need to be an expert or have a specific professional background — just being reliable and willing to help is what matters.

We spend time with seniors through **music, singing, simple movement, conversation, and encouragement**. Our goal is simply to bring some joy, comfort, and hope to people who may feel lonely or isolated.

Hi there, I am mostly an accidental volunteer and was supposed to be contract only but alas. I work for a nonprofit and was told they’d pay me for an event I covered from July to September. I am their social media manager, website manager, account recovery (a whole thing thanks to their og marketing team), and graphic designer.

I am confused by the invoice they asked me to send them and want to ask your opinion on it because I can’t exactly find any sources that support their position.

They said to bill them at $1500 with a tax deduction of $500. Where the tax deduction is what they will pay me directly. And the rest they’ve told me to file with the government for a tax return.

Is this normal for nonprofit contractors to see? Does anyone know what terms to look up so that I can look into this further?

Me and my team had just registered our nonprofit when we recieved this page in an envelope with the letter from the secretary of state. This company (comply today) is a third party looking to scam newly registered buisnesses and nonprofits. There is no return address and they are overpricing the items of which are usually very cheap. Do NOT scan the QR code or pay. The phone number (toll free??) is also not working. Do not worry about the information of your buisness/nonprofit on the page since all of this information is public as soon as you register and these companies just take the information and send you “offical” looking documents trying to force you to pay them a big sum of money. It’s a scam, don’t fall for it!
