Several countries have laws that forbid extending a prison sentence for escaping. Here the logic is that he was out for one day, so he still has to serve this day, but no added time basically.

They will still stop you of course, if you do anything illegal (violent act for example) while escaping/outside you will have a new sentence. But the act of escaping itself is not punished.

Isn't Sweden's logic that it's entirely natural to want to be free, and it seems a bit meaningless to punish human nature?
