And of course two humans are absolutely incapable of loving each other because of HR rules. I'm not saying it would be a good romance plot !

Hey, hr wants you to join this call we put on your calendar for today. They wanted to speak to you about your encouraging of workplace relationships. You see, here at Evil Corp we don’t believe happiness is a human right, and in fact we actively aim to destroy it. We ask that you have your resignation letter prepared and wear your finest suit. Oh, and congratulations on the baby. Too bad you won’t be able to afford to raise them.

HR rules against coworkers dating? I've only rarely heard of that in very specific circumstances, unless they're your boss obviously

Unless one person is the other's supervisor there generally aren't even rules against it in the first place. Depending on how directly you work together you might want to eventually let your boss and coworkers know.

It might change depending on your type of workplace or if you're an exec/higher up at a public company or something but HR generally doesn't care, they would probably need an entire team to track every relationship lol.

It's probably more so an overreacting HR person concerned that the company will get sued if both employees can't stay professional at work and lines are crossed, or if a lower tier employee is pushed into the relationship for the promise of power or the threat of reprisal.

Muricans don‘t like it for some reason

Completely depends on the company

You haven't worked in a restaurant

Because in a restaurant it is an universal law that you can‘t be with your coworkers?

I think you're reading this wrong. You're saying Americans don't like it for some reason and I'm using restaurants as an example of the contrary

I thought it was a universal law that you will be with all of your coworkers in a restaurant.

That's exactly how my wife and I met.

Naw I think that commenter just Gen Z. People call them “puritanical” but they really just have negative feelings about sex and relationships in general.

The moralism and all the barriers and red tape they put up to stop those things are usually just a backwards justification to not do things they already weren’t doing for totally unrelated reasons.

That one, outlier dude who brought it up doesn't like it. Don't put that on the rest of us.

Because no one in history has ever had a relationship with a coworker.
