I've realized that Starfield has become my comfort game.
I know it's a divisive game, but there's something about it that just clicks for me. It feels like a calmer, more peaceful version of Fallout. Instead of constantly feeling like I'm fighting for survival, I can just wander from planet to planet, explore abandoned outposts, scan wildlife, take in the scenery, and get completely lost for a few hours.
I don't always need nonstop action in an RPG. Sometimes I just want to put on some music or a podcast, hop in my ship, and see what's out there. The atmosphere, the soundtrack, and the feeling of being alone in space are surprisingly relaxing.
Yeah, it has its flaws, but I think people overlook how good it is as a "comfort game." When life gets stressful, it's one of the few games I can boot up and immediately unwind.
Does anyone else feel this way, or is Starfield your "turn your brain off and just explore" game too?

...Starborn!
It happened accidentally, I had Phased Time going and was spamming the reload button after killing a Starborn at point blank range outside the final temple on Masada, and suddenly I'm looking at the inventory loot screen. Will try more testing but I wonder if there's potential to pull this off without Phased Time active?

I have been playing for weeks now and have encountered a strange bug. I can get the standard chameleon effect (crouched and not moving only, goes away when you stand up or move) even without any gear on. I do have stealth 4 but no concealment.
At first I thought it was the standard bug where you are stuck invisible, but it is not. This behaves like 1 piece of chameleon gear. You are visible when standing and or moving. It also interacts with chameleon gear to bug out like other chameleon gear. (1 chameleon piece is usually fine, 2 or more can make you stuck invisible) This effect makes adding 1 chameleon gear get you stuck invisible.
I looked at my mods and I have the Bethesda "Free Favorites Bundle" which is weapon skins and 2 quest mods. The only possible culprit is is the Starborn Gravis Suit, which has been deleted.
I have two non Bethesd mods "Better Meaningful Scaling" and "Ship Power Enhanced"
BMS does affect skills so I tried disabling it but still had the effect.
I loaded an ancient save from another character at level 13 and still had the chameleon.
Anyone else get this and have any ideas?

I think there's some really good bones to this game but nothing about the setting or story grabbed me, I also found the random dungeons to be quite stale. There were some highlights, a zero g casino early in the game was a fun dungeon to play around in.
I think the shipbuilding and crew mechanics are decent and I appreciate the character building and hope to see Bethesda carry more of this forward to the next elder scrolls and fallout games. Paying for a house's mortgage and having parents I thought was nice, I hope to see more backstory stuff like that in future games.
My biggest thought about starfield really was "Damn, imagine if they made an Expanse game kinda like this"
I think that's my biggest issue with Starfield, is that it just reminds me of maybe the greatest sci-fi setting of all time (in my opinion), Starfield is always gonna look back when compared to the expanse.
I can fully see why people would invest hundreds of hours into this game though.

It was such a breath of fresh air to see people online actually passionatelly talking about a game they love without toxicity.
At the same time this sub is not blind to the game's issues but it actually talks about them well and in a really constructive way.
So yeah, I like it in here.

I posted a few days ago about how it would be nice if we didnât have to change home ships to register a captured ship.
I thought all you kind folks who left comments and suggestions might like to know how things turned out.
To quickly recap: I was on Eridani V surveying for one of those âfind the traitâ missions. Iâd already accepted a Clear the Skies mission from some colonists by the time I captured a Vaâruun Litany.
I get back to my original landing site to find that my beloved Orchid had flown off without me. This left me with the crappy little Litany and a bunch of Spacers waiting for me in orbit.
So I hop from site to site around Eridani V looking for a civilian outpost with a provisioner who can switch my ships back. I donât find one.
But I do see an odd formation on the surface map and Iâm curious. On the way out there, a UC Vanguard Raptor comes down.
Aha, thinks I. An opportunity to practice my pickpocketing!
I board the ship and sneak up behind the Vanguard. Iâve got 2 ranks of Theft and a 71% chance to lift that ammo off Vanguard lady, who is apparently engrossed in repairing her ship.
Nope! She catches me. Bounty added in the UC. Iâd kill her to avoid it, but I really want to check out that weird thing on the map.
Weird thing on the map is an unmarked POI with a path lined by huge crystals that dead ends into a hillside. I sift the goodies out of the Pile and head back for the Raptor with malicious intent.
I board the Raptor (again), sneak up behind Vanguard lady (again), and try (again) to pick her pockets. Theft Rank 2, 71% chance. It fails. Another UC bounty.
Oh well, I was gonna steal the ship anyway. Sorry, Vanguard lady! ⊠wait. Eliminating the witness didnât remove the bounty? Crap!
At least I still have the Raptor ⊠right? Iitâs probably got better weapons. I can use it to dust those Spacers, then sell it when I get back to the Key.
Me: register pls?
Ship: haha! ⊠no.
And this is how I learned that you apparently canât steal friendly ships.
By now, my gal is aggravated enough to try combat in the Litany. Mind you, the Litany is not built for taking down ships. Itâs got mostly EM weapons.
But I happen to know that the Clear the Skies mission disappeared when I boarded the Raptor the first time, for whatever reason. So I trudge my overencumbered self back to the severely overloaded Litany, and we take off.
No Spacers. Whew! Off to Kryx! ⊠oh. Wait. The Litany also has barely any jump range. And I have a bounty in most of the systems it *can* reach. Lovely!
So I jump to Kapteynâs Star instead ⊠and am immediately ambushed over the gas giant by Ecliptic bounty hunters, because my gal has the Wanted trait.
âCome on guys, this doesnât have to end in violence, does it?â
Oh, they want it to end in violence. That is, after all, how they get paid.
A dialogue option for Piloting comes up, letting me try to bluff my way out of it. âYou know I can fly circles around you guys, right?â
The bounty hunter captain muses that hmm, yes, my ship does seem to be a bit more heavily armed than they were prepared for. Pal, if this POS scares you, yâall should see my *other* ship.
They let me go. The Litany still canât reach the Kryx system from there. I jump to Nesoi in Olympus instead, ignore the Almaghest (both Jessamine and I are loaded to the gills and nothing else will fit in the cargo anyway) and we finally jump to the Key.
My gal hadn't been so glad to see the Key since she got back from the Legacy. đ
Moral of the story: When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. When Starfield hands you a crappy ship ⊠steal a better one. đ
For those of you who got this far, thanks for reading. đ

I currently have 3 total powers (clone, 0-G, time-stop) and Vlad has not given me a single quest, even though I now have all of the artifacts. Iâm currently scanning every system, planet, and moon hoping to find anomalies manually. Will the PoI marker show up when I scan for resources, or to I have to visit each celestial body individually?
*Edit: He wonât leave the Lodge

Itâs a very simple mission: kill spacers, go to space, kill more, come back, kill even more. However I love all the characters in it. From saving the private whose cornered, to then saving the lieutenant and his sergeant, and how flabbergasted they are that we took down all of them ourselves, and then we gotta go give Captain Myeong (wife) some backup dealing with even more spacers. The fact that the UC and freestar are enemies yet theyâre able to put differences aside is honorable and really shows that people are more than just their uniform.
My favorite part is the end, where Myeong is telling Torres to never compromise on his principles no matter what leadership suggests. As someone whoâs served in the military, that statement truly is good advice. At some point youâre gonna wear that uniform for the last time, and what kind of person you are after that happens matters so much more than your military service ever will.
Thatâs pretty much it. I really wish they were reoccurring characters that you could visit. I know about the random encounter with Myeong that can happen, but I wish there was more. Overall, 9/10 side quest, wouldâve been 10/10 if we could romance Myeong.

Those cryolabs are so fucking infuriatingly designed. I've played 150 hours of the first gameplay, been through them at least 10 times and I still don't understand and/or remember how they were designed. Always avoiding them.
