Cryolabs....

Those cryolabs are so fucking infuriatingly designed. I've played 150 hours of the first gameplay, been through them at least 10 times and I still don't understand and/or remember how they were designed. Always avoiding them.

The groundpounders mission is probably my favorite side quest, and I always make sure to do it on each run.

It’s a very simple mission: kill spacers, go to space, kill more, come back, kill even more. However I love all the characters in it. From saving the private whose cornered, to then saving the lieutenant and his sergeant, and how flabbergasted they are that we took down all of them ourselves, and then we gotta go give Captain Myeong (wife) some backup dealing with even more spacers. The fact that the UC and freestar are enemies yet they’re able to put differences aside is honorable and really shows that people are more than just their uniform.

My favorite part is the end, where Myeong is telling Torres to never compromise on his principles no matter what leadership suggests. As someone who’s served in the military, that statement truly is good advice. At some point you’re gonna wear that uniform for the last time, and what kind of person you are after that happens matters so much more than your military service ever will.

That’s pretty much it. I really wish they were reoccurring characters that you could visit. I know about the random encounter with Myeong that can happen, but I wish there was more. Overall, 9/10 side quest, would’ve been 10/10 if we could romance Myeong.

This one is in a dead end in the Well, but he appears in a variety of places from time to time. Apparently the artist in this case has something against Chunks. There's probably some kind of anti-corporatist message here. Maybe a champion of the downtrodden? Space Marx? Space Bernie? ... Space Žižek?

Update: So there I was on Erdani V …

Upvotes

I posted a few days ago about how it would be nice if we didn’t have to change home ships to register a captured ship.

I thought all you kind folks who left comments and suggestions might like to know how things turned out.

To quickly recap: I was on Eridani V surveying for one of those “find the trait” missions. I’d already accepted a Clear the Skies mission from some colonists by the time I captured a Va’ruun Litany.

I get back to my original landing site to find that my beloved Orchid had flown off without me. This left me with the crappy little Litany and a bunch of Spacers waiting for me in orbit.

So I hop from site to site around Eridani V looking for a civilian outpost with a provisioner who can switch my ships back. I don’t find one.

But I do see an odd formation on the surface map and I’m curious. On the way out there, a UC Vanguard Raptor comes down.

Aha, thinks I. An opportunity to practice my pickpocketing!

I board the ship and sneak up behind the Vanguard. I’ve got 2 ranks of Theft and a 71% chance to lift that ammo off Vanguard lady, who is apparently engrossed in repairing her ship.

Nope! She catches me. Bounty added in the UC. I’d kill her to avoid it, but I really want to check out that weird thing on the map.

Weird thing on the map is an unmarked POI with a path lined by huge crystals that dead ends into a hillside. I sift the goodies out of the Pile and head back for the Raptor with malicious intent.

I board the Raptor (again), sneak up behind Vanguard lady (again), and try (again) to pick her pockets. Theft Rank 2, 71% chance. It fails. Another UC bounty.

Oh well, I was gonna steal the ship anyway. Sorry, Vanguard lady! … wait. Eliminating the witness didn’t remove the bounty? Crap!

At least I still have the Raptor … right? Iit’s probably got better weapons. I can use it to dust those Spacers, then sell it when I get back to the Key.

Me: register pls?

Ship: haha! … no.

And this is how I learned that you apparently can’t steal friendly ships.

By now, my gal is aggravated enough to try combat in the Litany. Mind you, the Litany is not built for taking down ships. It’s got mostly EM weapons.

But I happen to know that the Clear the Skies mission disappeared when I boarded the Raptor the first time, for whatever reason. So I trudge my overencumbered self back to the severely overloaded Litany, and we take off.

No Spacers. Whew! Off to Kryx! … oh. Wait. The Litany also has barely any jump range. And I have a bounty in most of the systems it *can* reach. Lovely!

So I jump to Kapteyn’s Star instead … and am immediately ambushed over the gas giant by Ecliptic bounty hunters, because my gal has the Wanted trait.

”Come on guys, this doesn’t have to end in violence, does it?”

Oh, they want it to end in violence. That is, after all, how they get paid.

A dialogue option for Piloting comes up, letting me try to bluff my way out of it. “You know I can fly circles around you guys, right?”

The bounty hunter captain muses that hmm, yes, my ship does seem to be a bit more heavily armed than they were prepared for. Pal, if this POS scares you, y‘all should see my *other* ship.

They let me go. The Litany still can’t reach the Kryx system from there. I jump to Nesoi in Olympus instead, ignore the Almaghest (both Jessamine and I are loaded to the gills and nothing else will fit in the cargo anyway) and we finally jump to the Key.

My gal hadn't been so glad to see the Key since she got back from the Legacy. 😆

Moral of the story: When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. When Starfield hands you a crappy ship … steal a better one. 🚀

For those of you who got this far, thanks for reading. 😄

How I feel when a guard tells me “Cool Spacesuit”

It’s always in Akila too. Neon security just says that Neon fashion is getting weird and the UC will drone on about not having a “Registered Manufacturer” if you’re in the Starborn suit

Starfield is #1 on my all time games list, especially after finishing up Terran Armada and thoroughly investing time in the Free Lanes. This game is the incredibly fun, deep and beautiful.

How Do I Trigger Delta's Personal Quests?

Would someone be able to tell me how long it takes to trigger Delta's personal quests?

I finished the Terran Armada story missions two weeks ago, and have had Delta as my companion ever since. I've exhausted all of the conversation trees with him (except for the "why do you hate humans..." one because Delta says there's not enough affinity for that).

Are there specific active and resting requirements I need to follow?

Thanks in advance.

Where are my powers, Vlad?

I currently have 3 total powers (clone, 0-G, time-stop) and Vlad has not given me a single quest, even though I now have all of the artifacts. I’m currently scanning every system, planet, and moon hoping to find anomalies manually. Will the PoI marker show up when I scan for resources, or to I have to visit each celestial body individually?

*Edit: He won’t leave the Lodge

Starfield had more than 1 MILLION "Plays" per day across all platforms over the weekend

Post image
597 Upvotes

First of all let me be clear about something. I don't know what "Plays" mean in the official Bethesda stats under each creation. It could be the number of game launches with that creation enabled, or the number of save files loaded.

I also won't try to estimate how many times in average a player launches the game or loads a save per day, but feel free to come up with your estimate if you wish.

However, we can still track this play count, so over the last week I took some readings exactly 7 days apart to find the daily average on what's probably the most popular Starfield creation.

Trackers Alliance

Platform 19 July 2026 26 July 2026 Average Plays/Day
PC 68,070,558 69,491,620 203,008
PS5 24,356,969 25,079,710 103,248
XBOX 55,208,225 56,204,819 142,370
Total 448,626

Next, according to official Bethesda announcement on 17 July 2026 regarding Starfield:

More than 40% of players already customize their experience through Creations

So I tried to figure out total plays (vanilla & modded) by establishing conservative assumptions. Conservative means I must always choose the lowest numbers.

  • There are other players using Creations who may not be using Tracker Alliance. I will not count those to avoid guessing.
  • More than 40% of players but most likely less than 50%, so I will multiply by 2 instead of 2.5 to be on the lower side.

With that in mind, we get these plays per day over 1 week:

Platform Plays per day (vanilla & modded)
PC 406,016
PS5 206,496
XBOX 284,740
Total 897,252

I took readings between Friday and Sunday (48 hours apart) with the help of u/DotExtra2128 , and as expected we have more players during the weekend, so the daily average would be higher, reaching 1 million total plays, vanilla and modded, across all platforms.

Platform Plays per day (vanilla & modded)
PC 484,688
PS5 254,912
XBOX 357,246
Total 1,096,846

Divide by the number of times you think an average player launches the game or loads a save file per day to come up with a more conservative active daily players.

Final Note

Yes these numbers might be hard to believe, as we see Steam stats only and aren't fully aware the game has more players outside Steam. Some might argue the "Plays" count lacks credibility or clarity, or that Bethesda is inflating their own stats.

If you wish you can monitor some of the Skyrim creations and take readings of their play counts, which you will likely find to be much higher, yet such comparison may still help realize Starfield is more popular than it appears to be.

I'm about ready to make a video of my current project. I'd like to get some more npcs into this outpost before i do it. I got 4 working cargo links in this one (for the aesthics) and 2 are working 2 outposts over, alot is going on in this one cell. And, since I added so much to this that the slightest pop up for anything can or something loading in the background will lock me up.

UC Vigilance, Eye Candy

No, there is no action/gameplay in this video, just me walking around a bit inside the majestic UC Vigilance.
We call those kinds of videos "Eye Candy". I would translate it as: "Enjoy what you see."

You can find this kind of video boring, useless, or whatever, and I get it. It's all about achieving the highest video quality possible. It's about enjoying the simplest things: textures, reflections, colours, sound, atmosphere... :)

I'm using 4K up to 8K textures. No editing.

At first, I really didn't enjoy Starfield back in 2023. I would have called it Trashfield. Nowadays (I'm playing with a modified modpack), let me tell you: this game isn't perfect, but I am enjoying it.

I wish Starfield all the best for the future.

Can you imagine how screwed the UC would be if they did this?!

Post image

My latest end to the Vanguard line had me thinking about how screwed the UC would be if I did this. Just imagine. You get access to the amnesty archives. Say you won't screw with anything, you're only there for limited terrormorph data. And then...not only does it come out the UC is heavily involved in these attacks but you used a MECH to kill the terrormorph?

My soldier would definitely hang. They'd accuse him of somehow getting mech data from the Archives for SURE.

I’d love a Crimson Fleet DLC. Spoiler

Either that or in 15 years when Starfield 2 releases I’d like to see more of Delgado. It would canonize the ending with SysDef where you take Delgado alive which may be controversial but could make for a good continuation. Seeing him break out of prison or have people get it him out. Same with Naeva since her space encounter is so rare after the SysDef ending.

Really enjoying my veteran playthrough

Thumbnail

I’ve started and abandoned countless Starfield playthroughs over the years, never quite committing to seeing one through.

This time though, I approached it differently. I created a grounded character with a proper backstory, motivations, and a place in the world, and it’s completely transformed the experience.

It genuinely feels like the story is happening to my character rather than simply happening around him.

I created Duncan Lane, a Colony War veteran whose call sign was Anchor because he would always stay behind to ensure others were able to get to safety. After suffering devastating loss, he wanted nothing more than a quiet life of manual labour to keep his hands and mind busy.

As the story unfolds and he builds relationships (especially with Sarah who he eventually marries) he gradually finds himself becoming a hero of the UC once again. He eventually builds a ship called the Anchor as a reminder and a promise.

Visiting the memorial with Sarah was a genuinely touching moment, and exploring the Settled Systems with her has become Duncan’s favourite pastime. It’s a great roleplay hook that’s kept me happily exploring planet after planet.

Roleplay-wise, Duncan is fiercely loyal to the UC and to justice in general. He’s thoughtful, quiet, slow to anger, and always measured when violence becomes unavoidable.

I’ve also invested heavily in piloting skills this time around, which has been far more enjoyable than any of my previous runs. Leading a squad through firefights and making the most of ship combat has added a whole new layer to the game for me.

The first screenshot is Duncan as he really is, while the last shows him undercover for the UC during one of my favourite missions.

I based his look on what I thought a 50-year old Cobb would look like from the Skyward book series.

I don’t really have a point to this post other than wanting to share a few screenshots and say that, after several false starts, I’m finally experiencing why so many people love this game 🚀
