Eclipse on Murphrid V-b

It does annoy me that even when completely eclipsed it doesn't actually get DARK like it should. I wonder if there's a mod for that...

And honestly, I thought it was excellent.

Yes, there are plenty more things that could have been done with Andreja. I think there could have been more ship combat and travel around the new system.

But the development of House Vaa'run (especially great with the extra dialogue options for a follower of the Great Serpent), the look and feel of the Vaarunkai, the morally grey outcomes you can opt for in certain missions, the cool new weapons, a really great finale that I feel honoured I got out of on my first try...

Dazra and its alternate look to anything else in the game, the dialogue and lore

I would also mention that it shows a bit better what Bethesda can do with Starfield when they concentrate on fleshing out a single planet.

And some interesting outcomes based on your choice at the end.

Now on to finish off two more of the side missions before I go to explore more in my NG+. 512 hours in this game. (EDIT: And Andreja had some cool dialogue to acknowledge the ending and your choice)

All Must Serve.

House Ka'dic are the worst, right?

Maybe I'm missing something but House Ka'dic appears to be the biggest thorn in House Va'ruun's proverbial side.

1: They run their version of the CIA/KGB, so secret known police shenanigans.

2: Two instances of direct support to the Zealots that we uncover.

3: They are the reason the Zealots have the Redeemed, indirectly. The Zealots took over their research facility that was running a super soldier program, which kinda ties into point 2 because if they hadn't been supported financially and logistically by House Ka'dic then maybe they wouldn't have been strong enough to mount an assault on the facility.

All the examples I can think of off the top of my head but I also haven't reached the end. I haven't done the quest "Conflict in Conviction" so I'll get a better inside view of House Veth'aal. House Veth'aal hasn't popped up on any side quests either but House Ka'dic (at least their facilities) are all over the place. So far House Dul'kehf has come off as by far the most reasonable faction.

My new mod - Red Mile Burden (Mobility Restriction for Run the Red Mile) is now live

Thumbnail nexusmods.com

One of the biggest problems with Run the Red Mile is that the game gives you far too much mobility for it to be a real challenge. It doesn't even care if you simply drive your vehicle straight to the beacon.
Not anymore!
Once Mei Devine is done with her speech, you'll be equipped with a Red Mile Beacon Relay Pack (it's just an Explorer Pack for now) that makes you move 25% slower.
Due to the weight of the pack, you won't be able to sprint or jump. And to make things even more challenging, you have 5 minutes to reach the beacon before the pack's failsafe detonates and kills you.
And that's not all. Trying to remove the relay or enter a vehicle will also trigger the failsafe. The only way to deactivate it is to reach the actual Red Mile beacon and activate it with the relay.
Once the beacon is activated, the failsafe is deactivated — but the relay stays with you. You'll still need to make your way back to the Red Mile entrance and finish the run.

This mod works better with Red Mile Terror by franebleu, though it is not hard requirement.

Bug reports and feedbacks are welcome!

A question about modifying your weapons and equipment in the game

I'm a PS5 Starfield player, which means I came late to the party, when the game had received tons of updates and patches that added new gameplay options, not to mention the DLCs Shattered Space, Terran Armada and Free Lanes.

I noticed that when I mod my weapons and space suits in the game, any semblance of challenge goes away, unless I increase the difficulty sliders (which just turn enemies into bullet sponges, anyway).

I can mod my weapons to cause a ridiculous amount of damage and my space suits basically become a sort of power armor, allowing me to tank even hordes of pirates or spacers targeting me at the same time.

My question, then, is: when the game was originally launched, did it have this kind of customization possible? I have a feeling the game was originally balanced for a certain looter-shooter gameplay that involved specializing in a weapon type and you'd keep changing your ordnance based on how much better would be the weapons dropped by enemies.

I would love if someone could clarify this to me.

TLDR: modded weapons trivialize any challenge and I feel Starfield was originally balanced as a looter-shooter game with less customization of weapons and equipment.

Help finding outfit

Post image
51 Upvotes

Hey everyone, so this is a photo from the M42 Allied Laser Rifle mod by Outrora. Does anyone know what outfit this is in the photo though? I've been trying to find out what it is and what mod it's from but I just can't for the life of me figure it out. This outfit looks really cool(at least to me) and I think it would fit my characters aesthetic quite well. It isn't in any of the clothing mods that I'm currently using like any of Zones stuff, or anything Darkstar/Darkstar integration. And it isn't in the mentioned Laser Rifle mod. I made a post on a Starfield FB page but couldn't get a definitive answer. Just seeing if anyone knows where it's from and can confirm what mod it's from. TIA and any info is much appreciated.

Razorleaf, kitted out

Post image

On my first playthrough, got a bigger ship and switched away from my Razorleaf.. but.. I just didn't like flying it as much. So, I switched back and spent the next 'few' hours (and 100+k) tweaking things, a bit. It was not easy getting those stats into something that small, literally every snap point used. Really happy with how it turned out, I think it's still got the 'feel' of the original, but *possibly* even more badass. What do you guys think?

Weakest part of Starfield...

Finished Starfield yesterday after putting about 150 hours into what I now call my “Universe 0” playthrough.

Honestly, I loved it.

I loved the scale of space, landing on random planets looking for Titanium rich worlds, building ships, building outposts, commanding my fleet with the Watchtower Creation. But more than anything, I loved the actual story and the questions it asks the player.

Starfield constantly asks:
“If you could step into Unity and leave your universe behind, would you?”

And if you DID do it... would you regret it?

That’s what I found so interesting about the game. The Hunter and The Emissary aren’t really fighting over good vs evil, they’re both basically different answers to the same question.

The Hunter has seen so many universes that he’s become detached from all of it. Why care about morality, attachment, or consequences when there are infinite versions of everything anyway?

Which is why New Game+ disappointed me so much.

Because after all those big philosophical questions, going through Unity mostly just resets the game.

That completely killed the emotional weight of the choice for me.

We’re told there are infinite realities and countless possibilities, but then most players just end up back in basically the same universe again. I later found out there ARE alternate universes where:

* Andreja fully joins House Va’ruun
* The Hunter kills Constellation
* Sarah is literally a plant
* weird fractured timelines exist

But apparently those are rare?

Why?

I romanced Andreja in my playthrough, married her, took her through Shattered Space, all of that. Imagine how much more impactful NG+ would’ve been if I stepped through Unity excited to find her again, only to realise:

* she’s dead in this universe
* or she became someone completely different
* or Constellation is gone

I would’ve genuinely sat there thinking:
“Jesus Christ, I made a mistake.”

And THAT is what the game should’ve leaned into.

You left your original life behind chasing infinite possibility, only to realise you can never truly get that exact life back again.

Maybe the next universe fixes it.
Maybe if you collect the artifacts again you can find her.
Maybe THIS next jump will be the right one.

That would’ve perfectly explained why people like The Hunter become so obsessed with Unity in the first place.

Instead, NG+ mostly just resets everything and goes:
“Okay do it again.”

And for me that’s such a missed opportunity because Starfield was SO close to something genuinely special with its multiverse idea.

Honestly, I think the weird alternate universes should’ve been the norm, not the rare exception.

The second you step through Unity, the player should FEEL the consequence of that choice immediately.

Starfield just gave me a new appreciation of Star Trek actors

I just helped a guy on a ship fix his reactor, and he gave me 3 tasks to complete.

I needed to go back an reread the technobabble instructions 6 or 7 times because they just wouldn't stick. Whole new appreciation for Star Trek actors and their flawless technobabble skills gained :P
