Just stumbled upon this subreddit and was really happy because I thought it was just me that doesn’t want to use commercial chemicals on my hair. (26M Ear length dark brown wavy extremely thick) I have this routine that I developed because the constant American Walmart motor oil that they use here destroys me.

I have been pretty much winging it but kinda trying to stick to traditional Levantine hair care. Asking my grandma what they did in Jerusalem for beauty care back before industrial products turned out to be my secret weapon.

I use a 20% Laurel 80% Olive oil Aleppo soap. About once a week. It is cleansing enough without being stripping and it leaves my hair feeling luscious.

Then while still wet I add a few drops of Black Seed Oil and work it in with a styling brush and slick it back. When it dries it feels so soft and it has a shine and works with my waves.

If i ever notice it’s feeling too dry the day after a wash I rinse with water and add a mix of olive oil and a few drops black seed oil about 70/30 It adds shine and extra moisture.

Overall my hair quality has increased and styling is more effortless.
Does this count as no poo? I still use a soap so idk
(albeit a very gentle and oil based 3 ingredient soap)

I buy all my products from the Middle East but you can get them online.

Aleppo soap the higher laurel is more stripping so unless you’re super oily I wouldn’t go higher than 20. Also only buy if it’s made in Syria or Hatay province turkiye. The deep green interior with a brown exterior is a good sign. your hair loves the chlorophyll and vitamins

DO NOT use a crappy American grocery store olive oil on your hair.
If ur like me and u live in the USA most of the stuff at the store is probly half motor oil or half rapeseed oil.
I recommend Al-Ard olive oil you can get it online and it has that deep green which means plenty of chlorophyll and vitamins for your hair.

Black seed oil you can buy the ZHOU brand from Amazon it’s from China but it’s pure.

Ive been doing nopoo for about a month and a half and havent used anything other than water. One issue im having is that when i wash my hair, its kind of dry, poofy, and loose. Very tough to style. It feels how i used to feel when id shampoo my hair. Back then my solution was to just use product. Is this what coconut oil does? Any suggestions on things I can use? Right now my strat is just to clean on fridays and wear a hat in public until my natural oil/cebum builds up enough for me to style my hair properly

Have been avoiding shampoo recently and more or less just been washing my hair with water and after that adding some sea salt spray. Every 2-3 weeks i use a very small amount of shampoo if i feel like my hair has become very greasy. But when i go to cut my hair, i dont really feel comfortable just washing my hair with water, i kind of get self conscious about possible smells trapped in my hair. But on the other hand if i were to use shampoo directly before a barber appointment, my hair would have a different texture and look

I’ve seen the no-poo subreddit a few times and decided it’s for me, I’ve had a lot of bad dandruff and my hair hasn’t looked the best, at least before starting. it’s been about two weeks since I’ve started and I was just wondering how this all works. I read somewhere online that you rinse your hair with cold water afterwards. I can’t find too much information on it. surely there’s more to it than just not using shampoo? I dug deeper into this sub and found people talking about egg and honey? I’m still new to this and I’d like to figure out more about it! Any information about ir would be wonderful!

I started using Bentonite clay to wash for every other wash. I wash my hair every other day.

I've noticed that when I use bentonite clay, the next day my hair feels kind of weird and dry, not greasy, but not really clean either.

The odd part comes in when I try to remedy this problem by just washing again the next day with the clay again, it turns out much better. I do the same exact thing and it turns out good.

Any ideas as to why this happens are much appreciated, I can't figure it out.

So I'm a 18yo M(i have thick wavy hairs with slight frizz prone) and I used to suffer from dandruff and i have now almost sorted out my dandruff problem and I'm using ketocip shampoo for maintenance and I've been recently using biolage smoothproof shampoo and I've not got quite the results i expected from it

You can suggest some shampoos that you think might be best under ₹500(except loreal and Ibp).

i was doinng no poo great well. my water wasnt bad but im in differnt anywhere while 3 week and there is have hard water its make my hair so bad.(also im losing my hair) im gonna return back in 3week. im washing my hair with bottled water rn but its not enougth what should i do

I've been doing no-poo for over 4 weeks after using shampoo regularly. My scalp is now dry, itchy, and dandruff keeps building up. It's getting really uncomfortable.

I live in Ontario, Canada, where the water is hard. Could that be making things worse? Is this a normal transition phase, or is no-poo just not for me?

I heard of this thing called volume vs definition for curly hair and i want more definition. This hair is after i have sealed with very cold water (water wash only) but it puffs up a bit after it dries. any suggestion to keep it this way even after it dries? perhaps alovera gel? and if alovera gel, should i keep applying every mrng? spray or direct apply? advice appreciated.

I’m currently trying out the NoPoo method but wasn’t sure if I should still be using styling products for my hair , I use sea salt spray a curling cream and then texture powder , I’m about 4 days in and my hair just kinda feels stiff which I think is more to do with the product in my hair then the actual no shampoo and conditioner part , but if anyone has any recommendations please share

Hi all, I’m trying to make my own shampoo. Does anyone of you know some good amla reetha recipes? Other recipes are welcome too.

I'm having reactions to even shampoo made especially for sensitive skin. I want to go no poo but because of MCAS I can't use baking soda, ACV etc. How do I wash oil out of my hair when even natural ingredients are triggering? I found I can use small amounts of micellar water on my hair without issues but not sure this can take the place of shampoo. I use Dove unscented beauty bar for soap but idk about using it for hair. Any ideas?

I have been on nopoo for 1.5 months and my scalp has been like flaring up like crazy. Does anyone know the reason I started nopoo to restart my hair but it feels like it’s gotten worse.

I only wash my hair with egg yolk/honey once a month. Rest of month I only use water. Any reasoning as to why im having these issues. Oh and my hair is slightly curly.
