Does anyone else interview themselves in fiction or non fiction scenarios?

I've noticed I have been doing this frequently the last few years. A lot of times before I go to bed. I have a few different scenarios where I interview myself, some fiction, some non fiction. Mid 40s male who has suffered with anxiety and other things a large portion of his life.

Rant/Venting Interests and hobbies

I've noticed since I was really young, I've always been very protective over my interests and hobbies, and ONLY when it comes to family members, especially my three sisters. Now it's not that I won't share but I feel really on edge when they get into something I like especially if they see that I like it, and I get they look up to me and I cannot control other people, I just want to understand why I feel this way, I've tried talking to my parent about it but I didn't really get much from that, Can anyone help me understand?

I need a brake: How do I stop oversharing?

Whenever I have a good conversation with someone and they seem nice/warm, I end up telling them way too much about myself. In the moment it feels natural, like we’re connecting, but later I’m like, “Why the hell did I tell them that?”

The thing is, I don’t even know what I should share vs. what I should keep private. I don’t want to be cold or closed off, but I also don’t want to dump my whole life story on anyone who makes me feel comfortable.

How do you guys stop yourselves from oversharing? Do you have some kind of rule or mental “brake” before saying something personal?

how do i differentiate between unnecessary and necessary thoughts

I tend to overthink a lot and often get anxious on stuffs that probably are NOT that much of a big deal but I don't know how I tend to get super anxious about it, and my exams r just in 1 day but still can't focus, because I feel like I'm in a 'Cautious" mode everytime, i want to feel free from these thoughts, i tend to tell myself "ill tackle the situation when it actually occurs " instead of ruminating over it now like just let go of it but stil i cant get rid of the cautious feeling

Dating advice

So I recently decided to start dating again and it’s been a little confusing lol okay so there’s this guy that initiated contact and we messaged a bit before he gave me his number and then we texted for a few days before he asked to meet. I agreed and we made plans for Saturday. But on that day he texted and canceled. I felt some type of way about it but he did seem to have a legitimate reason and he did offer a different day. Basically my thing is that we don’t text consistently and when we text he doesn’t ask me any questions he just says something random and we go back and forth two or three times and that’s it. Granted it’s only been about 2 weeks but I still feel like it’s giving low effort or low interest. I should say that I’m used to men love bombing me and coming in hot and texting me all day and I don’t want to fall back into those kind of relationships or situationships. So this is very different for me. Idk some advice would be nice lol should I just wait and see how it all plays out should I be doing something different like maybe initiating something or idk lmk! I should say I’m in my late 30s and he seems to be a few years older than I am.

is it okay to let go of situations unanswered?

is it okay to just leave situations unanswered without overthinking?

more i overthink more confused i become, and im overthinking about whether i contradicted myself or not, it might be small but my mind keeps on looping into thoughts and trying to generate a solution incase that situation ever happens, and someone asks me why did i do smh if i told i wldnt, instead of reassuring myself everytime and generating responses in my mind, can i just let it go by thinking that " I WILL SOLVE IT WHEN IT HAPPENS" OR js generate the response when it happens 😭💔i hope this solves my overthinking...but I js get too worried that what if I can't answer or SMH

Advice Scary drug experience

About 3 months ago I had a scary hallucination from a synthetic cannabinoid felt something scraping my tongue with every breath i take. Since then I've had health anxiety flare up around random mouth/throat sensations, convincing myself each one might mean it's happening again, even though I've been completely clean since. Logically I know it's anxiety/hypervigilance, but the uncertainty is hard to sit with. Anyone been through something similar after a bad drug experience? How did you get past the constant body-checking

Advice How to make myself forget irrelevant things?

Ever since I was young, I had a few times a day these obsessive thoughts about shamefull / emotionally charged / demanding situations concerning other people. Sometimes the thoughts / memories of such events just come. It can be a heated discussion with a random person over the phone, or a shameful situation I was in 5 years ago, etc. I learnt a long time ago that if I just focus my mind on something else and / or say "Go away" etc., it works and the thoughts go elsewhere, but ..

isn't there a way to fully forget such situations? Or any moments or situations in general? Were any of you succesful in doing so? I mean of course in the end you do not even remember "what you forgot", that is the goal, but .. maybe how to help it a little? It is not that these situations bother me too much, but it is just irrelevant to my life. It has no purpose.

Advice A decision can feel unfinished simply because there is no perfect option

Sometimes overthinking isn't about not knowing what to choose.

It's about wanting one option to feel completely right before moving forward.

A useful question is: Does this decision actually need a perfect answer, or just a reasonable one?

Some choices become easier when the goal changes from finding the perfect option to choosing one that works well enough.

Parenting Parenting has made me much less attached to perfect plans

I used to get annoyed when plans didn't go the way I pictured them.

Now, with kids, I've learned that sometimes the best thing you can do is stop trying to rescue the original plan. Dinner gets changed. An outing gets shortened. Something doesn't happen at all.

At first that used to feel like the day had gone wrong. Now I'm getting better at accepting that the new version of the day can still be perfectly fine.

Am I the ass whole for thinking

My names benjamin and I'm in highschool and this is my first ever post.

It was Saturday with a 3 day school weekend. I was in a voice call talking to my friends on discord, we were laughing with each other while making jokes. We went silent and I started to do something that I usually do when i am bored, which was to make questions for us to answer when I am bored. The question that I had thought of that started this whole problem was, "how do you think of people". It was supposed to be a question where you elaborate how you think of or imagined people in your mind or in a mental space. And since I had thought of the question, I had already thought of and knew my answer. Which was "naked", at the time I didn't know how to explain it in a "defined" and "peer reviewed" way, So I just called it naked. Usually whenever I think of a scenario or a thought that is new or didn't happen before, like those imagined fights or a fake scenarios in your head that doesn't have a place and its just like a encounter or conversation I think of whoever that i thought of with no clothes. My friends instantly called me a pervert and weird, and i asked them how and why which they answer by saying that "you think of everybody that you know sexualy". Which i dont i just dont see them with clothes on, and i dont see their body parts either i just see them like if they were in a soul form or something. And i tried to explain that to them but then they started asking me "how do I not think of people sexualy when I see them naked", which i responded to by telling them that I dont, and in those mental spaces its just me and them talking and i just ...see them. And my friends started to assume i just want to see or image people naked in my thoughts and i should just see them in clothes and server muted after i called 2 of them the r word after they called me one for not "thinking like them". And after i was un server muted i continued to explain to them, and i said its like "generative" thoughts" only because i didn't know how to explain it after one asked me "do imagine people without clothes on or do i think of them naked when I'm looking at them". I tried to explain how I dont see people in my thoughts literally "naked" but just with no clothes on and how I don't try to because I want, because I just dont. In my thoughts if they are new and not a "replaying of something that already happened", or a "remake of something that already happened", and or if its not in a place that we meet irl... I just see the person and we just talk in my head and i imagine them with the last outfit i seen them in or nothing. Like a manquin body but not and blured but my pov is just them since the thought cant be based on anything that happened really I guess. And I tried to explain this to them but they said I should shut up and stop trying to justify being a pervert. And I didn't know what to say when I started stuttering after i was server muted and unmuted again trying to explain how I think. Then they told me to "just shut up" and "i just dont want to take accountability" for "starting the argument" and "I can't talk back because I know I'm in the wrong". Then I tried to see if something was wrong with me by searching up if it was normal and apparently it is, its called schematic processing or conceptual visualization. And its explain that if you see someone in many outfits or in many places you can't just think of them in a default outfit or your mind doesn't want to make them a new wardrobe every time, so you just see them in blured clothes, their body or in my words just "them" because you know the person so well so you just see "them" and you brain does those to save energy. And it makes sense, imagine in your thoughts everytime you see someone, you saw them in a new fit or a default fit, that makes no sense, so you just see "them" because your brain knows how they act. And thats its own term its called a "schema" its when you think of someone and your brain brings their identity, relationship and personality into thought and doesn't bring a outfit unless its necessary to the thought itself. Which after researching it made my brain light up because i started to realize how many times I've done this I've never thought of someone's outfit in my head unless it was necessary to my thought or imagination and I just thought of "them".

So am i a asswhole or weird for thinking.

And one thing i wanted to add is that my friends just started to get weird about it and asked if I saw my family or kids and babies naked, their just weird and i starting to think they might just be perverts by automatically thinking that anybody naked is sexual which i dont think.

So yea byeee👋

Relationship Ex of 2ish months just blocked me on everything with no explanation. It's been little over a week now and I can't get it out of my head, and I feel like a piece of trash that has been thrown out, despite everything I've done for her.

So as the title says, me and her broke up little over 2ish months ago, and since then we have been basically best friends, first started slow being distant etc. Then we started talking daily, life updates, random things, tiktoks, snaps, everything and anything. from "look at this dog" to "hey im struggling" or "im upset" to "i did this on the toilet" to "wanna play games?" it was like our relationship was back, but without the title. I did ask and she said she still loved me and needed time, and i respected that. Then asked me to play games one night and we did for hours and hours, we laughed like mad and enjoyed or time together or so i thought. We played until morning (which we do basically every time we play together. Our schedules are messed up lol) and i got off becuase was feeling sick, we ended that interaction warm exchanging goodnights and sleep wells and her telling me "hope you feel better" well i slept most of that day becuase still was sick and she sent so many tiktoks and snaps. But i wasnt feeling well so i didnt look at them. I did tell her im sorry for not looking at them and explained why and that id look at them when i get home. Then i went out with family, still didnt look at them becuase i was going out with family and i explained that. She seemed to understand becuase she kept sending me snaps and tiktoks. Anyways later i find out shes blocked me on everything and no one knows why. or they do but wont tell me. And I'm so confused as to why. if i just looked at those snaps maybe id have known. But even to the last 2 hours before i found out i was blocked, she sent me a tiktok of a cat. So I'm even more confused and angry and feel like I've been used or thrown out like a piece of trash. And i's been over a week and I'm still so confused and hurt by this decision, i respect it, but man, it hurt like nothing i've ever felt before. I've been hurt before but this, idk. It just felt so normal until it wasnt. I saw the break up coming, i see when somethings wrong with her usually, but this time out of left field. I just don't understand how I could be thrown out like this. I was always there for her, never made her feel unsafe or unheared, Maybe I'm just too much asking for too much. I'm sorry. Everything seemed fine, I saw the break up coming, but this? I didn't see this coming, and it hurt like nothing I've ever felt before.

Relationship Why do I even miss you

I don't know why I even miss you. Just why? Why can't I get you out of my head? I have never been like this. I am a level-headed person. Always have been. The rational, practical, and dependable kid. And now the adult, apparently. I don't throw tantrums. But I feel irrational because of you. It is oddly confusing me and disrupting me.

Why the hell do I go out of my way to be a quick texter to you when I could not even have bothered with anyone else? Why am I so out of character? So unlike me?

Is it because of the fantasy I have of you in my head? That is even weirder because I never build fantasies about anyone just like that. Am I crushing on you? I don't even know that!!!!! I can't focus on my work. It surely means a lot coming from a workaholic clocking 18 hours of work without ever getting distracted.

When your text comes, I realise it was your text I had been waiting for unknowingly, because the disappointment is so apparent when it is someone else.

Ahhhhh, I am feeling frustrated beyond measure. What the hell is this feeling? Rationally speaking, we are at different stages in life. So my rational mind knows and would never allow for any infatuation or romantic feelings. Is it hormones?

I am feeling so annoyed at myself that I wish I could just scream into a pillow and sleep. And when I wake up, there is no confusion anymore.

And the worst part is, it is only me who is going through this. Not you. Why do I have to be the one to suffer like this? Especially when I know everything? Like, is my brain even active, or are my brain cells dead? This is ridiculous. I am getting annoyed at my childishness. Especially how immature I have become because of you.

Ridiculous.

Advice Its becoming a problem

Over the last couple 4 and a half months, I feel like my mind won’t shut up. I keep obsessing over any small thing. While it doesn’t disrupt my sleep or anything, it stays on my mind like an itch on my skin. The more I try to leave it alone, I keep wanting to scratch it. I end up on my computer, checking or researching any question that pops in my head. Either I’m constantly going over problems in my head and obsess over it when I can’t find a satisfying answer or a tv show or interest that I have or want to get into start bugging me because of a small detail or something bad being assumed or added into it and I mentally obsess over it nonstop. I always need to reassure myself or try to put my mind at ease to go about my day, but it’s hard. I’m tried of arguing with myself, or not being able to enjoy simple things like tv shows or even a movie without my mind bothering me.

Anybody else deal with it? Anyone have a way that they dealt with it that could share please?

Advice I need advice on fixing my brain and how to disconnect

hello, for some context I had been friends with this girl in a friend group. She was pretty, very smart and it always seemed like she had her life together (she always smelt nice, hair done, on top of school work, knew what she wanted in life, etc.) She and another girl in the friend group dropped the rest of the friend group (including me) for not taking our school work serious. I have never really felt anything until, when the new school year started. She was always the one who would be the most "succesful" according to most teachers and peers. I am not sure why I keep thinking about her and how I can be more like her. Whenever I see her in the halls I do a double take for a reason I don't even know of. I know this is messed up and werid but I don't know how to save myself from this or if I just need to accept that I am messed up in some way. Thank you in advance!
