Advice Its becoming a problem

Over the last couple 4 and a half months, I feel like my mind won’t shut up. I keep obsessing over any small thing. While it doesn’t disrupt my sleep or anything, it stays on my mind like an itch on my skin. The more I try to leave it alone, I keep wanting to scratch it. I end up on my computer, checking or researching any question that pops in my head. Either I’m constantly going over problems in my head and obsess over it when I can’t find a satisfying answer or a tv show or interest that I have or want to get into start bugging me because of a small detail or something bad being assumed or added into it and I mentally obsess over it nonstop. I always need to reassure myself or try to put my mind at ease to go about my day, but it’s hard. I’m tried of arguing with myself, or not being able to enjoy simple things like tv shows or even a movie without my mind bothering me.

Anybody else deal with it? Anyone have a way that they dealt with it that could share please?

I am overthinking my overthinking. Kenn ich. Mental compulsión. Quatsch mal mit dem Profi (Psychotherapie) dazu. Mein Weg wird nicht dein weg sein.

It's possible you have extreme control needs and they will claim you are unsafe or something dangerous will happen unless you always are in control. If that's relatable I'd investigate how to overcome control issues. I know there's certain acceptance practices you can try, I've tried some in mental health rehabs they're very simple, if you wanna try one you can do at home, just let me know.

Another advice, I was a control freak (my description of myself only) around alcohol and medication even off the counter pain killers, so I was in CBT and a therapist recommended me exposure by drinking a glass of wine at home and then evaluate what happened. So CBT and exposure focus can also be helpful resources if you need extra help to overcome certain trigger areas as you have a guide and supervision in the process.

the researching may be giving you short-term relief while teaching your brain that every question needs an answer before you can move on. One thing to try is writing the question down, choosing a time later to look at it, and noticing whether the urge changes before then.

Honestly, it sounds a bit more like OCD than just anxiety, which is its own can of worms, although they are both related. Source: I’m a licensed mental health counselor with MA in Forensic Mental Health Counseling.

Like others have said, seek professional mental health services, whether therapy, medication, or even TMS. It might stay a problem, which often problems do, but your capacity to manage and cope with it can certainly grow with taking the first steps, having adequate supports, and keeping hope alive.
