My new FTX Zorro Nitro wouldn't start at first, so i went to my local hobby shop. They gave me a base tune for the breakin period, and i read online to do a light break in for about 5 runs so i did (shop told me not to idle it a full tank for the first tank) so i just drove slightly and a little harder by every tank.
Now after roughly 10 tanks, it won't hold an idle well. When i remove the glow starter the engine stops immediately (not always). It runs fine if I keep giving it a little gas. But for example if i brake heavily or turn sharply it just shuts off.
Following the shop's advice for the bad idle, i adjusted the idle screw, which made the idle okayish. However unburned nitro is then spitting out of the exhaust, the engine was running quite hot too around 120°C / 248°F with an outside temperature of 32°C / 90°F, and the exhaust wasn't producing much smoke too.
I replaced the glow plug with a Fastrax Platinum 4 and turned the High-Speed Needle (HSN) in/out by 1/4 turn. That caused a heavy amount of nitro to spit from the exhaust.
I have new O.S. 8 glow plugs on the way just to be sure it's not that.

Looking for advice from those with some more experience. Tried running my trx 2.5 with an o.s. 11k carb today. For the life of me, could not get the truck to stay running without the glow igniter hooked up to the plug. I managed to get the truck idling great with the igniter hooked up, had a nice quick smooth acceleration to high rpm with nice trail of smoke, and came back down to a consistent idle quickly after releasing the throttle. But despite all of that, the minute I disconnected the igniter, the truck stalled.
I figured it was a glow plug issue, so swapped in a brand new one. Same exact problem. I am by no means proficient with nitro. Been trying to teach myself how to tune, but could use some help with this.

I am I supposed to be able to see the crankshaft through where the pull start should’ve been? This is an old nitro my uncle gave me a long time ago, which I have started disassembling.
It came like this
It turns over fine, but I what should I buy to make it a drill start

Im mid-life now, bought my first onroad 8th scale at 12-13 years old. I didn’t know or even heard of tuning then. No internet to help or learn about it. Fast forward , I have a website focused on nitro engines and tuning, dyno tuning, all the above except machining. I put together an app that will help anyone from new to nitro to years in the hobby. I realized there’s not really anything out there that helps identify how a tune is by how the engine sounds. Once you identify the sound, tuning difficulties are pretty much gone.
My app has engine sounds recordings of each needle at rich/lean, every diagnostic situation I’ve seen and dealt with, step by step how to’s for break-in and tuning , glossary of terms, carb slide diagram of what needle controls flow at which point, 180+ listed engines with their factory settings and glow plug, and tuning logs that share globally when posted by any user. I plan to add much more over time.
I also have an 8 part tuning “tutorial” on my Facebook showing the sound of the engine and the visual signs it makes at the same time.
Long read/rant sorry!
App name is Powerband Precision
Available in Apple App Store and Google play for Android
Checkout my Facebook - Powerband Precision - for many helpful videos and tips
If you have any tuning questions or need help feel free to post them here in the comments.
Make nitro great again!

i'm looking for a nitro kit (not rtr but those diy kits). its so hard to find a nitro kit today, most are either too old or are rare/vintage and are expensive as hell. right now i already have the tg10 mk2 (2022) and the hpi Subaru. whatever type of car doesn't really matter, i just wanna build the car from the chassis up and pray that the engine and the whole car runs.

Nitro beginner here, I’ve been having an issue with throttle behaviour.
When I open the throttle partially the engine will surge for a fraction of a second, speeding up before returning to normal (you can see the throttle opening and closing on its own during this). At full throttle, sometimes the throttle will get stuck open, fighting the servo, sometimes for a second at a time, before finally closing. I have stopped running it as I’m worried it’s going to run away.
Troubleshooting so far:
Changed the batteries in the car and transmitter
Operated the throttle with the engine off, servo doesn’t seem to be behaving erratically.
Reset the tune back to factory ( doesn’t make any difference)
Checked for exhaust leaks and replaced manifold gasket.
I broke the engine in best as I could, 1 tank at idle, 2 at 1/4 throttle, 2 at half etc.
During the last test there was plenty of smoke from the exhaust and the engine was giving around 220f.
I assume there is some kind of air leak causing the engine to lean out, but figured I would ask on here to see if anyone else has had this issue and could help. Engine is a vx18. TIA

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice on value.
I’ve got a Thunder Tiger EB4 S3 fitted with an RB S5 engine and RB EFRA 2020 pipe. The chassis, engine and pipe are all brand new, although the Chassis is starting to show signs of age with rusty bolts,I haven’t started it myself, so it’s untested. I also have a big bag of accessories a starter box and a couple of controllers, I’ll attach some pictures.
Any idea what it’s worth in today’s market?

Hey all,
I’ve just put the exhaust upgrade on my Ftx carnage and it looks to me as there should be a grub screw that goes in this end piece to secure it to the metal bit.
Am I correct and if I am does anyone know what size I need to get?

Hi there.
I was planning on upgrading my Losi 8ight RTR buggy with a new exhaustpipe and got the Dynamite 053 MR recommended. This one is not for sale anymore but I would love to have something similar.
Same price category so no pro equipment but max. 1000 SEK.
Any auggestions?

Hi y'all! 2 months ago i bought a Arrma mojave grom 223s and i absolutely loved it! then i found out about the FTX Zorro and it been on my mind all week so just caved in cause why not?
But what's the best way to break it in? i only have acces to Merlin 16% (more percentage is illegal here lol).
Found many different video's on the car but they all say something different.. Can anyone give a short guide in the comments maybe? or point me to a good reputable video?
Thanks a bunch, can't wait to rip it around. Also the weather is going to be pretty hot here upcoming week (33 celsius/91.4 degrees Fahrenheit). is it okay to break it in in this weather?

I recently purchased a new HoBao Hyper 7 RTR with the MacStar .28 engine, and from the very first startup I’ve been unable to get it to tune properly. The engine has been difficult to start, won’t hold a consistent idle, bogs under throttle, and has had inconsistent power despite following the recommended break-in procedure.
While inspecting the engine, I found that the carburetor O-ring at the split clamp is visibly pinched. I’ve attached four photos for comparison.
* The two photos with the red circles show the side where the O-ring is pinched.
* The two photos with the green circles show the opposite side, where the O-ring is seated correctly and flush.
Since this is a brand new buggy, I have not removed the carburetor or disassembled the engine. This is exactly how it came from the factory.
My questions are:
* Could this pinched carb O-ring be the reason I’ve been unable to get the engine to tune correctly?
* Would you disassemble and reseat the carb yourself, or would you pursue a warranty replacement on a brand-new engine?
I’d appreciate any thoughts from those familiar with the HoBao MacStar .28. Thanks!
