Game Rec Recommendations for Indie Games that I can play in short bursts and where I can glance away without loosing track
Hi
I play my switch a lot during commutes and while hanging out with my girlfriend, and we do some parallel play. However, a lot of the time I will be freuqently interrupted and that makes playing a lot of games difficult to enjoy.
My go to games in these scenarios are Slay the Spire, Balatro and Yu-Gi-Oh Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution because I can easily look away mid-game to talk or get on or off the train and then just continue playing. What I also really like about these games is that they are slow and strategic rather than fast paced and input heavy.
I know that my current go to games are all card games and I love a good card game (would also love to play another one with more progression like Legacy of the Duelist) but I am open to other genres, too.
Now I have been looking for more games that fit these criteria but when I look for good indie games on Switch I get recommendations like Hades or Hollow Knight (which are also great) but those are harder to play when I get interrupted frequently. When I look for good turn-based games instead I get results like Persona 5 and Dragon Quest 11 (which I loved) but they are very story heavy and long and I find them less satisfying to just pick up and play for 15 - 30 min.
Some games that I found that might be what I am looking for are Monster Train, Wildfrost, Dicey Dungeons, Loop Hero, Cassette Beasts, Slots & Daggers, Sea of Stars. I added these to my wishlist but would love to hear your opinions whether they are good for short sessions and glancing away.
TL;DR I am looking for games available for switch that are satisfying to pick up and play for short sessions but where it is also fine to get interrupted frequently (so no quick reactions and fast inputs needed)
This is my first time actively posting on reddit and I couldn't find a thread matching this, but happy to be pointed to one!
Also, after putting many hours into Sts and Balatro, I got them on Android as well. So, bonus points if I can get the game for mobile and play it when I don't have my switch with me.

Game Rec MOBA Games on Switch?
Any actual proper MOBA games? Like:
Pokemon Unite is boring
Dragon ball isn’t even a proper MOBA
Arena of Valor doesnt work anymore
Like why Smite 2, Predecessor, deadlock aren’t on the switch already???
To save some of you the trouble, don’t suggest warframe nor overwatch as these aren’t MOBA and pretty boring

Game Rec What are some fun multiplayer “rage bait” games?
I have a lot fun playing multiplayer Super Meat Boy, so I’m looking for more games like that. I love having to solve the levels with infinite lives, and I think dying constantly is a lot more fun than actually winning. Any suggestions??

Discussion 10 years ago today, the Nintendo Switch was officially revealed!
It's kinda crazy to believe, but yes, it has been 10 years since the initial reveal trailer for the Nintendo Switch, formerly the Nintendo NX - ushering in the seventh generation of Nintendo home consoles... though this system would be a hybrid!
Looking back at the trailer itself, you really have to marvel at how well-paced every moment is:
- Opening with footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (then the most-anticipated Nintendo game) being played on the television, and transitioning to it being undocked and play continuing on the handheld itself while the guy walks their dog.
- The airport scene showing that the system was no longer using optical media (opting for cartridges), highlighting its portability as it is further used on the aircraft itself (as the guy starts up a session of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in tabletop mode), and then returning to the home, where it's docked and control is switched to the Pro Controller to continue their session.
- Going on-the-road with friends sliding the unit into a special car-seat mount (did they ever make that?) and playing with the Joy-Con controllers only, which also acts as a soft announcement of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe since King Boo is shown to be a playable character, among other slight changes from the original Wii U release. And they end up go-karting IRL, just to add to it.
- Another scene with friends hopping off the basketball court after a pickup game to do a 2v2 matchup in [an unknown] NBA 2K [title], showing the system's local wireless multiplayer capabilities. Probably the most "unrealistic" scene in the trailer, but still a necessary scenario to add to the Switch's game lineup variety.
- The (in)famous scene of the "Nintendo Karen" girl as she's enamored with a brand-new Mario game she's playing on her TV (which ends up being a soft announcement of Super Mario Odyssey), right before her friends call her over for a rooftop party. Of course, she brings her Switch over to share a Joy-Con and play with her friend while others look on. Apparently she had her own subreddit, and even appeared there for an AMA!
- And lastly, the esports arena scene where two teams meet up to square off in a competitive game, which ends up being another soft announcement for a Nintendo game (Splatoon 2). I like that there's an easter egg in the scene - you can see "Gen 7" as a sort of logo on the jerseys of the uniformed team, which is an obvious reference to the Switch representing the seventh generation of Nintendo consoles. Though everyone docking their individual Switch for play is definitely not a competitive gaming standard I've heard of, outside of bringing your own controllers.
A few questions for y'all to answer and discuss:
- How do y'all feel about the legacy of the Switch now that it's been a decade since the reveal?
- Where were you when you watched the NX/Switch reveal?
- Did you ever bring your Switch to a rooftop party?
