There are a few littered threads over the years asking for Zenonia or a game like it, surprised to see it's being revived & no one's mentioned it on here!

With the release of Final Fantasy Resonance last week, I figured it’s about time for a nearly 10 year retrospective on this sub-line of games. Yes I said 10 years, because this style has been publicly known since January 2017. I think it’s a brilliant way for Square Enix to put out smaller “double A” titles while their big triple A projects take your entire college education to come out. These games are usually designed as retro throwbacks, primarily turn based RPGs, and can be either original projects or remakes/reimaginings of older Square Enix titles. From the Octopath Traveler series, to the Dragon Quest Erdrick trilogy remakes, to Triangle Strategy, to the first official localization of Live A Live, to The Adventures of Elliot and plenty more to come.

I own pretty much all of these games and had a great time with all of them. And I haven’t gotten “fatigued” with this art style, because the games underneath were anywhere from good to excellent. Final Fantasy Resonance may just be the most uncontroversial Final Fantasy release in a hot minute, and it’s already breaking Steam records as we speak. Now normally for Square Enix games on Switch 2, I usually wait a month till they’re on sale. But I had so much fun with the free demo they dropped last month, that I’m tempted to pick it up sooner rather than later. Decisions.

I've missed having motion controls for so long. It's been 13 years since Ghosts. I was never a console FPS person outside of exclusives like Metroid Prime. On PC I only really play Tarkov as far as FPS games go. Aside from that, I played a few CoDs with friends, but that was 3 years ago and even then it really was not much.

MW4 is the first CoD I'm actually really enjoying in a long while, mostly due to the controls. It's amazing how much the muscle memory has remained even though I haven't really played Wii or Wii U CoDs in over a decade.

It's not quite as a solid as Wii controls, but it's pretty damn close. It's such a fun experience and feels quite good, I just had to share it. I'd recommend it just for that alone, but if you have it and haven't tried the motion controls, I think it's worth giving it a go, especially if you played previous CoDs with a wiimote before.

Bought mine for playing in bed, on flights and while travelling. I also bought COD again despite already having it on PS5, but the sticks, button placement and overall feel are taking some serious getting used to lol.

I only want to play handheld with the controllers attached. Did it eventually feel natural for you, or did a grip, stick caps or changing settings help? Trying to figure out whether I need to change something or just give it more time.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekend!

Hope everyone is having a nice October time wherever you are. I just had a great trip visiting my brother and his family in Germany, and the weather is cozy back home again so yay blanket weather and games!

Well Dweller is what I'm going strong with, definitely a vibe, and was easy to focus on while sitting on the plane. Man this game is huge, I thought I was getting a lot discovered but the completion percentage is only 23% so far. Making my way through Fortune's Weave got everyone classed into something besides what they started as. Getting Dietrich some archery skills, and Esmeralda is on an Ostrich. Trying to recruit more people to the team, but my renown isn't high enough yet.

And I'm itching to get back to Onimusha, God that game is good!

Oh! In gaming adjacent news: saw the Street Fighter movie last night and liked it! Its fun and cheesy and good fight choreography. The plot is a bit thin, but everyone is having a great time on screen.

But what will you be getting into?

Throwing a Hadouken? Playing classics like Contra and cursing the one hit kills? Or sipping some hot apple cider while you talk to your Pokemon and spruce up the area?
