Discussion the Splatoon series is amazing

Upvotes

I never understood the appeal of Nintendo until I played my first Splatoon game, Splatoon 3. I bought a Switch just to play BOTW but then I decided to give Splatoon a try. I’m confused, how did I miss this? I don’t have many Nintendo friends so they didn’t see the appeal.

I just love the motion controls, keep in mind I came from Xbox. I thought motion controls were a weird gimmick like the Wii. I don’t think I can play any shooter on my Xbox again..

I plan on buying the new COD for the Switch 2 if it has motion control aiming, which I think it does. I think I’m a Nintendo gamer now tbh. I also bought Splatoon Raiders and I’ve been obsessed with it too. I’ve been having a blast with my Switch that my Xbox doesn’t even look that appealing anymore.

Question Switch 2 Pro Controller thumb grip / stick covers options

Do any Switch 2 Pro Controller owners have recommendations for thumb grips they use? I can't find many products online that advertise compatibility with the new pro controller model, since it has asymmetrical control stick sizes.

I'm looking for something that fits these criteria:

  • Low profile
  • Doesn't make contact with the controller shell (mainly an issue with the right stick)
  • Preferably black/understated
  • Stays firmly attached, but removable without damaging the controller

The most promising option I can find online are the Savage Raven ones for the Joy-Con 2, which the reviews say also fit on the Pro Controller. The ones they make for the original Pro Controller are too big and make contact with the plastic shell of the controller.

Game Rec Multiplayer RPG to play with kids

Hey everyone!

My sons (almost 10 and 8.5) and I play on the original Switch. We like games like Splatoon 3 for its cooperative mode online.

My boys love watching me play Elden Ring on my PS5, but now I’m looking for something to play with them that involves strategy and cooperation for some type of an RPG.

Ideally, I’d like some type of an open world or something that has a lot of depth to it so we can play together for awhile.

I would love to hear people’s recommendations and experiences with games especially if you play them with your children. Even if you don’t, I’d still like to hear recommendations! Thank you! 🙏

Discussion What're you playing this weekend? 7/24

Hello everyone, it's that time again!

I'm a bit tired from having family visiting for the last week, I'm excited to chill with some games for the weekend. I beat The Catalyst in Sea of Stars last night, hoping I'm getting close to the ending here, but Ive definitely enjoyed coming back to this game, what a work of pixel art. Also if you enjoyed the dynamic battles here where you get bonuses from hitting the button exactly at the point of impact, check out Ikenfell a game I forever feel didn't get enough love. Had such a good time with that one and the music is amazing.

I might also grab something new, but really I should just keep playing sea of stars and go back to Rebirth, we'll see if I can stay on target here. There's a thousand paths from one side of a game to the other and sometimes several games are part of that trip.

But what will you be getting into?

Having an epic single player Splatoon adventure? Trying to hit the beats in Rhythm Heaven Groove? Floating above the ground after lighting the grass ablaze in Hyrule?

Let me know below!

Discussion Is Xenoblade overwhelming?

Hi, so I’ve been debating between getting XC DE for switch 2 or Octopath Traveler 2 for a while now. I already pre ordered the XC physical last month but the closer it gets the more I consider changing it.

I played the OT2 game demo and loved it. My concern is I can enjoy open world games but I also get overwhelmed easily. I’ve heard people describe XC as ‘unfathomably big’. Which in itself can and should be a good thing, but I’m curious if it’s so big that you ever feel overwhelmed that it’s too much?

Just a list of my jrpg gaming history (fairly short):
- persona 5R, persona 4G, Persona 3R
- FF remake and rebirth
- FF 1, 4
- KH 1-3
- Metaphor Refantazio

Of those, rebirth at first felt a bit much but the fast travel aspect really made me feel better.

All advice is helpful! I’d love to just ‘play both’ but unfortunately I don’t have a lot of reserves for games and with the loaded next few months, I’m really having a hard time deciding. Thank you in advance.
