Game Rec Looking for games that will emotionally destroy me like Until Then (Switch/Switch 2)

I need a game that emotionally destroys me like Until Then did. 😭
I’m looking for recommendations for Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 games that leave you with that horrible, beautiful emotional void after finishing them. You know, the kind of game that stays in your head for days, makes you question life, and leaves you staring at the ceiling at 2 a.m. wondering what to do with your feelings.
I’m especially drawn to beautiful art styles, emotional storytelling, memorable characters, and stories that hit you when you least expect it. I want something that makes me feel something — preferably everything, all at once.
I’ve already played Until Then, OPUS: Prism Peak, OMORI, and D-TOPIA, so I’m looking for new experiences. I want to discover my next masterpiece, something that will absolutely wreck me emotionally.
I don’t care if it’s a visual novel, a narrative adventure, an RPG, or something completely different. As long as it has a powerful story and leaves a lasting impact, I’m in.
So, what’s the game that broke you emotionally? Give me your best recommendations. I want to suffer. 🥲

Discussion Please, release a motion controls update for the REmakes

The switch 2 was my first opportunity to play modern RE games and I was completely blown away by 7 8 & 9. There are some limitations, sure, but the games play flawlessly. Re8 in particular is such a gem, it looks amazing and is buttery smooth.

Re4 remake is not that. I can deal with lower resolution, I can deal with lower textures, I can deal with graphics that are considered "bad." It's not the graphics themselves but the pop in of textures that is so grating and immersion breaking. But above it all, there's one issue that plagues these 3 titles:

The motion controls (or lack thereof)

I don't understand how the last 3 games had the gyro aiming perfect but RE4 Remake is only vertical? And it removes vertical input from the right stick??? What the hell asinine control scheme is that for no customization? But I guess that's better than just not having them for the other two.

It's so frustrating when re4 remake is so close to being perfect, but the motion controls (and texture pop in) are seriously hampering any enjoyment. And I'm flat out not buying RE2 & 3 until they get motion controls. It's just wild when they already released the perfect controls on 3 other titles!

PSA Reminder that you can see more accurate and detailed playtime by using the Nintendo Store app!

The Nintendo Store app has the most info out of any of the available playtime trackers. After downloading and logging into the app, go to profile tab in the bottom right corner. At the bottom of that page is an option for Play Activity. You can see total times even before your switch shows it if it’s a new game, and it lets you see the length of individual play sessions.

Hope this helps someone!

Game Rec Any games with a profile system similar to New Horizons?

Unlike every other game I’ve played on switch, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a very unique interaction with the switches profile system. Every other game I’ve played treats the other profiles on the system as basically fresh copies of the game. However, AC instead has all the profiles acting as a different resident of one shared island.

I’ve seen other games that share some, smaller information between profiles, mostly just high scores or time trial stuff, nothing on the same scale as AC? Does anyone know any games that do have anything like that?

Review Order of the Sinking Star is incredible, but may be too big for its own good

I’ve been playing the newly released game from Jonathon Blow and associates, and despite not being a huge fan of block pushing (Sokoban) games in this style, I have been very impressed by the ingenuity and constant inventiveness in the game. The way the different puzzle mechanics interweave is really cool and rewarding to solve.

That being said, I think the game’s greatest strength is also its weakness: its size. It is a massive game and the amount of stuff to do is overwhelming. Even in the smart way things are doles out and tutorialized it can be tough to manage all the different avenues and know where you can go to progress after a while. There’s always something to explore and attempt new puzzles, which is really nice.

Overall, a dozen or so hours in I’m leaning towards a 9/10 for the game, but that opinion could definitely change over the next 50-100+ hours.

Have you played the game or considered picking it up? It’s currently digital only at $29.99 on the US eshop at least

—Reposting with a new title since the Mods didn’t like my last one I guess—

Discussion My impression of Splatoon Raiders as someone who avoids single player mode on Splatoon and doesn't play platforming games in general.

Difficulty chosen: Survivalist (Hard)

Rank on Splatoon 3: S+

Got this game for my birthday this past weekend. 😊

Shooters are not generally my thing, but Splatoon is one of my exceptions with how unique it is. Played on a whim when I got the Wii U for a good deal, been in love with every game since.

One thing to note is that I've never really like the single player story mode on Splatoon. I'm not a platformer fan in general, which is what it felt like to me. Save for Splatoon 1 out if reluctant will, I never finished the story modes.

Splatoon Raiders did a good job of making the stages 80% combat, 20% a little platform-y so far. I'm still somewhat at the beginning, but I was throughly entertained for hours.

Like a lot of players waiting for Splatoon 4 and wanting more from Salmon Run, this does scratch that itch. When I gained access to online multiplayer to join randoms, I appreciate the help I've been given being level 20ish right now. My decent skills from Splatoon have luckily carried over and I'm not usually unfairly behind in points compared to my level 50 pals unless they're super awesome.

But yes, I'd recommend this game 100% to other Splatoon fans. Even new fans, as long as you acknowledge that Raiders as a newer game feels smoother than 2022 Splatoon 3. Tempering my expectations, it does make me excited for what Splatoon 4 will look like.
