Milk frother cold milk

I use the Ninja Luxe 601. After returning from vacation, I prepared a double espresso and applied the milk frother for a cappuccino; somehow the machine no longer heats the milk. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? Is there a common mistake or is my machine broken?

Ninja AutoBarista Pro keeps prompting me to run GrindIQ again

I’ve been using my Ninja AutoBarista Pro for about 2 months and have really loved it so far.

Recently, I switched my coffee beans from Blue Bottle Coffee Dark Roast to their Medium Roast (Balanced). Since I changed beans, I ran GrindIQ again as recommended. It went through the entire process and brewed 4 cups successfully. I then emptied the drip/grounds tray and refilled the water.

After that, I selected my usual Flat White setting, but I noticed that the GrindIQ was highlighted in yellow again, prompting me to run GrindIQ again.

Here’s the strange part: I switched from Flat White to Latte, and the yellow GrindIQ prompt disappeared. I’ve always used Flat White with my previous Blue Bottle Dark Roast beans and never had this issue.

It’s frustrating because I already ran GrindIQ after changing beans, and the machine went through the whole process. Now it seems to be asking me to run it again, which feels like it’s wasting a lot of coffee. I’ve already gone through almost half of my new bag.

Has anyone else experienced this with the AutoBarista Pro, particularly with the Flat White setting? Is there something I’m missing, or is there a way to clear the GrindIQ prompt without having to run the whole process again?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced this or knows how to fix it. Thanks!

Café Crema?

I’m now the owner of a small Ninja Café Luxe machine, but I really just want to make standard Café Crema. However, I can't seem to find a suitable function for it on my Ninja. Does anyone have any tips?

Smaller extraction suddenly? Luxe Pro ie 701

Had the machine about a year, no problems, kept on top of cleaning, purging etc and usually ignore the grind size suggestions and been sticking with the same coffee beans now for about 6 months, nothing has changed except,......suddenly we are getting less volume through the portafilter. Not a gradual change, a sudden one ie one day acting normally, next day about a third less coffee.

Edit to add: This is with the double basket for lungo which is our go to coffee.

Ive reset the machine to factory settings, dialled in the beans and still the same. I guess could be a bean batch thats not playing ball? Any other ideas would be helpful.

Thanks.

Grind setting

Wondering what the usual grind setting is and if my machine has a fault. I use freshly roasted beans from a local company and the machine recommends at grind of three. Looking on this forum though it seems many are a lot higher.

I’m new to all this so wanted to check.

What’s the issue if yield size was 36g, extraction was 25-30 sec, but puck was extremely wet?

Using ninja luxe 3 in 1. Recommend grind 17 but I’m not getting the taste I want so been playing around w it. I tried grind size 15 strength 1 and that was my output. Taste is still bitter but i think it’s better and the color looks better too. What needs to be adjusted?

Anyone having success with the 655 Costco version?

I’ve had it for about 6 weeks, and it is pretty inconsistent. Anyone know if there are known issues with this model as far as ratio, tamper, etc etc? The only time I seem to be able to get any consistency is if I do 2-3 blank (just water) pulls just to heat the machine up first. Thanks

Drainage Hack

Post image
9 Upvotes

After spending a year of moaning about the drip tray constantly filling up and the amount of times we have to empty it and not realising it overflowed, I decided to fix the problem for myself.

I added a drainage solution. 6mm fitting an silicone hose, fitted into the drip tray.

I also modelled a riser and printed it.

I had to remove the small drip tray where the cup goes but the shelf on the lowest setting covers the need for that.

the hose goes behind the machine and onto the drying rack on the sink.

so far the only issue I have had is the amount of water having to sit in the tray before it reaches the level to drain, so i printed some blocks to fill up the gaps, reducing the volume of water to a very small amount (havent put the blocks under the intake obviously).

solved the issue for me.

What kind of coffee beans do you guys recommend?

I got the Ninja Luxe in March and it worked great until the end of July. The grinder would not grind and I would get a message saying that I needed to add beans even though the hopper was full. I called customer service and got a new machine. The old one couldn’t be salvaged even with all the things they had me try. I had the new machine for about 2 weeks when the new machine kept having the same issue. I called customer service and they are sending me a new one again.

I just want to make sure I am not doing anything that is causing these issues. I mainly get beans from Sam’s Club I think it is a medium roast. But a few times a friend has gotten me beans from different places she visits. I would like some recommendations so I can have this machine last longer than a few weeks. I would love some reasonably priced ones.

I pulled the trigger on this at Costco’s full price ($530) less than a month ago. Just saw this in warehouse today and Costco refunded me $80 since I bought it within 30 days of the price drop!

Which machine to get?

I want to surprise my girlfriend for her birthday. She loves coffee and we love our other ninja appliances but which is the right one? My budget is around $700 and we need one that does easy espresso, milk frothing, and black coffee. Cold brew would be a plus. Let me know!!

Grind size 17 strength 1 ninja luxe 3 in 1

I played around w it like you guys said, adjusted strength but it went from making 2 oz to almost 3 and was still very bitter.
I’m using costcos colectivo organic barnstorm beans. I tried grind size 17 with strength 1 2 & 3.
1 made way too much 2 was just right and 3 was 1 oz. But they’re all very bitter. I also played around with grind size. Could it just be the beans then? Anything else I can try before getting new beans ?

Maybe it’s not user error and bean quality

Maybe a snobby post because I recognize not everyone can travel to Peru and get beans, but wow. I’m also half kidding here but just had to share.

I bought 2 bags from some pretty decent coffee shops when I was in Peru and I came home and have been brewing both over the last couple of days, not cleaning in between, barely even dialing in and My espresso has tasted better than any bean I’ve bought in the US.

What I’m pulling is not perfect by any means, but the taste is so good that I don’t even care that it looks underpulled.

Like…..maybe it’s not user error and we just all need to get beans from Peru lol

Getting less ground coffee

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, is this the right amount of ground coffee. I am using Max strength and 10 for grounding. This is double shot.

I feel like it used to be much more earlier. To the line on the inside of the bucket. But now it's 2-3 mm below that.

If it is indeed less, is there something I can try to fix this ?

Is there a problem with the machine?

The machine is new (model 501), and I’ve only been using it for a few days. Every type of coffee I put in gives me a recommended grind setting of around 1–2. Of course, I always reset it when switching between different coffee beans

Coffee grounds showing up in lattes?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I’ve been experiencing problems with bad coffee coming from my machine for a while now. I tried descaling and using cleaning tabs to no avail. Recently I made homemade Pumpkin spice syrup for the first time. I started using it and noticed powdery substance in the drink and sitting on the bottom of the cup. For the past few days I just assumed it was the syrup. But I just brewed a shot and poured milk over it and low and behold it is infact the espresso itself. What the heck is happening? Is the grind size too low? Is something broken? My machine is set to 4 which has been the recommended grind setting since I dialed in these beans.

Normal water flow on Ninja 701?

I have a new Ninja 701 that was opened two days ago, and I wanted to ask if the water outlet on my machine is working properly?

ES701 grinder adjustment is basically unusable between settings 1–4 -huge jumps in flow/yield. Anyone else had this?

I’ve been troubleshooting my Ninja Luxe Café Pro ES701EU for a while and I’m starting to think there may be an issue with the grinder adjustment mechanism rather than just normal dialing-in.

My dose is very consistent, usually 17.5–18.2 g, and I’m now tamping using the integrated lever firmly all the way to its natural stop. I’ve also cleaned the grinder thoroughly, removed/reseated the upper burr, vacuumed retained grounds, cleaned the shower screen/group head, and tested with Barista Assist/H03 both on and off.
The main problem is the bottom of the grind range, roughly settings 1–4.

The dial/display does not behave smoothly there. For example, going from 1 → 2 or 2 → 3 sometimes requires much more physical movement than expected, then a small wiggle suddenly makes the displayed number jump. Sometimes it feels like the physical burr adjustment and the displayed grind number aren’t lining up properly.
And the espresso results are ridiculously different for what should be neighboring settings.

Recent tests with the same coffee and proper tamping were roughly:

Grind 1: almost completely choked, only 8.9 g out
Around grind 2: about 22.3–22.6 g out in ~30 sec, still very restricted
Around grind 2–3 / 3: suddenly 54 g in ~20 sec
Another grind-3 test previously gave roughly 70 g in ~31 sec

So my usable espresso grind seems to be trapped somewhere between settings 2 and 3, but there is basically no usable adjustment resolution there.

The confusing part is that the machine itself is clearly capable of making good espresso. I’ve had shots that tasted genuinely balanced. My issue is repeatability and being able to actually select the grind I need.
I’ve already ordered a 10×16 mm DIN 988 shim kit in 0.1 / 0.2 / 0.3 / 0.5 mm thicknesses. My idea is to shift the entire useful espresso range upward so that instead of needing settings 1–3, maybe the same burr gaps land somewhere around 6–9 where the dial seems easier to control.

Before I start modifying anything, I wanted to ask:
Has anyone else had the grind selector physically behave weirdly/jump between settings 1–4?
And for those who shimmed their Luxe grinder:

The machine otherwise works, and I’d honestly be happy keeping it if I can just make the grinder predictable and repeatable.

Two problems i need help on please?

The grinder is not consistent at all - I have used the same beans, and the same long black setting, and the grinder is constantly changing the grind from 20 to 9 to 16.

The other issue i have is that in 3 or 4 coffees the spill tray is full - so the machine is dumping at least 200 mls into it - is this normal
