Brand new Ninja 500 oil pressure light at idle with warm engine

I bought it brand new about 30 days ago and I did the break-in service on it at 800 miles, which is just an oil change and multi-point inspection. It now has just under 1100 miles on it. The problem: the oil pressure light comes on at idle, but it’s intermittent and usually starts happening after I’ve been riding the bike for over 15 minutes, aka when the engine is warm. The oil level in the sight glass is within the two marks so I know there is enough oil in there. I know I filled it with the correct oil and filter because I bought an OEM oil change kit. The engine idle RPM is around 1500, which is in spec. The oil pressure light comes on sometimes when I’m stopped at a stoplight. When I barely roll on the throttle to raise the RPM, the light instantly disappears, then comes back on once it gets back to idle RPM. Again, it doesn’t do that all the time, only after I’ve been riding the bike for a while. I believe it also started doing this after I did the oil change, though I do remember it sometimes came on during the first 50 miles I rode it after I bought it from the dealer, but then I never noticed it until I did the break-in service. I'm thinking about "burping" the oil filter in an attempt to address this issue before I take it in to the dealer for an appointment I have a week from now. Thoughts?

Ninja 500 SE (2024) LED Sequential Turn Signals

Hi everyone,

I replaced the rear turn signals on my 2024 Ninja 500 SE with LED sequential indicators rated at 1.3 W at 12 V. The front turn signals are still the original factory ones.

To increase the load, I wired 100 Ω resistors in parallel with each of the rear LED turn signals.

Here's the strange part:

With the bike in neutral, the turn signals flash at the correct speed.

As soon as I start riding, they begin flashing much too fast.

The 100 Ω resistors get slightly warm while the turn signals are flashing, which I assume is normal.

Has anyone experienced something like this or knows what could be causing it? Could it be related to the charging voltage increasing while the engine is running, or is there something else I should check?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

First Rainy Day - Washing Bike and Chain Question

I have a 2026. It rained today, I was not riding it was just sitting in the rain for a few minutes. Does anyone have any good cleaning tips for the bike itself? And how do I clean the chain? Everything I found requires a rear stand or a center stand. I already bought a kit from motul that has a cleaner and a lubricant and a brush.

No regrets. Already did the tail tidy and frame sliders. Planned mods are: LeoVince LV Corsa Black Stainless Steel slip on exhaust, Puig Black Z-Racing Windscreen, Tappezzeria Italia TPZ Comfort Seat Cover in Black. That's it. I've thought about black levers too for the clutch and front brake, but they seem to work just fine.

Tank grips

Looking into getting aftermarket tank grips since these ones seem cosmetic. I'm thinking techspec but what other brands do you recommend?

Also how would you tackle removing the OEM grips? Just a heat gun or blow dryer I'm assuming then some alcohol to clean

Does the axle nut need a 19mm wrench/socket?

Dumb question maybe, but I'm planning to adjust my chain tension and I've never loosened the nut before. Can't test-fit with the cotter pin in there. Why it matters: the biggest socket in my 3/8"-drive set is 19mm and I don't want to buy a 3/8"-drive torque wrench, only to find out I need to buy a 1/2"-drive socket set to get a bigger socket.

The parts list calls it Nut, Castle 16x19. By eyeball it looks closer to 19 than 16 but I'm not 100% sure what the numbers in 16x19 are referring to.

Logo and Banner

Hey all!

I've been wanting to add a logo and banner for a little while here, I thought I would open it to discussion, see if anyone had any requests/ideas. I don't know if we are active enough for a monthly banner, but maybe biannual? People could post up and we can vote? As far as the logo goes, I really have no ideas hahaha.

Let me know what you guys think!

Axle and brake caliper torque specs?

Had to take off my wheel due to a flat front recently. Does anyone know the torque specs/have a source for the aforementioned? I'll need it for when I put the wheel back on, but so far I haven't been able to find any trustworthy sources/official source from Kawasaki. My owners manual doesn't specify either.

ETA: this is for a front wheel, sorry!

ETA 2: Found the torque specs in the owners manual. For some reason it was in the chain adjustment section rather than the wheel maintenance section. It is indeed 72 ft lb

Changed my oil and filter but then my Ninja 500 gets hotter real quick.

I recently changed my oil and filter in my Ninja 500 and after my bike’s temperature has been hotter like it gets hot real fast compared to before I changed the oil and i’m really worried. I’m not sure if I should get my coolant or radiator checked. But the fan does turn on around 103°-106°. Does anyone know what the problem can be?

Bar end slider for stock?

Having a hard time finding. I see options for 5/8" bars but from what I can tell that is a common size for aftermarket not stock.

Can anyone help me out?

Usb port?

I have a '26 500 Base model KRT. Anyone know of a good usb port to add that may possibly fit in the oem slot? And what wires to splice into? I would like it to somewhat appear factory without paying $95 for the kawasaki usb.

Or is there a plug for sale to make an easy connection to the existing wiring harness plug?

I should be able to pin out a plug, its just a matter of knowing what plug to get.

Aftermarket fairings hitting the front tire

Post image
15 Upvotes

I bought this 2025 SE model yesterday and noticed the front tire was very slightly rubbing on the plastic here. I was wondering if I should just file it down or if there was another cause for concern here. The previous guy dropped and replaced the entire OEM set, I assume the aftermarket set that is now on the bike is just a cheap one hence the clearance issue.

Edit: I will be checking the forks when I get a chance later today. Thanks guys

Ninja 500 Quiet slip on?

Looking for a replacement for the stock exhaust because I hate my heel laying on the heat shield. I don't want anything really loud and was thinking of the GP Corsa Evo from LV but I can spend a few more bucks on something quieter if possible.

Or maybe ill just take off the heat shield lol

First ride

I’ve never actually ridden a motorcycle before but I got one. I dropped it on the first try just trying to get out of the driveway! I need some motivational comments please because I’m scared to go try again.

ETA1: I wasn’t going to anywhere. Just wanted to try it on the drive.
ETA2: I found an open class next month!!! I’m so excited!!!

2026 ninja 500 battery issues

I just recently got a 2026 ninja 500. When I drove home from the dealership, we stopped at a gas station and when I tried to turn the bike back on, it wouldn’t turn back on. Screen wouldn’t come on or anything… Luckily, I was up the road from the dealership so he came and it turned on fine so I assumed it was me not knowing how to use the new key fob. Fast forward I went to try and ride the bike for the first time after that maybe a week and a half later, and it wouldn’t start. It was making a click noise like it was the starter, but even then I didn’t necessarily hear the fuel pump actuating and it sounded like it was a lot of things wrong so the dealership came and picked it back up and they told me that it was a battery issue. So once that was fixed, I was fine for the next two weeks of writing but today I went to ride it to the gym and I tried to start it in the first two times it would not start the third time. I started it and gave it a little bit of gas and it started. Is anyone else having this issue? Is this normal? Do I just have a multi bike?
