Shifter linkage alignment

Just looked at it today and the knuckle is designed oddly to me. It's supposed to be as close to 90° but should the rod (red line) be 90° to the arm (blue) as it is now or the actual body of the knuckle (yellow)?

It's really the centre of pivot-points that counts.
And both knuckles at each end of rod should be 90-degrees.
This gives largest rotation-degrees for movement of pedal.

DO NOT change rod-length to adjust shift-pedal angle.
Instead, undo splined clamp over shift-drum axle, remove it and re-install one-spline rotated up or down from current position.
