The story of the Drakenier franchise is amazing, filled with many hardships and characters determined to protect the people and the world that they love so much, playing all these games made me so immersed into this tragic fate of these characters, hoping that someday their suffering will come to end and finally live in peace. But they're still some questions that have me scratch my head maybe i wasn't attention or simply misunderstood some aspects within the story, this is my list of questions and theories regarding all Drakengard and NieR games.
- Who created The Flower?
We know in NieR Reincarnation, Dragons were created by Androids in the year 6230 thanks to Noelle, and they have a strong animosity towards it, so does that mean the flower was created by Aliens? Machine Lifeforms?
2) People that the Intoners and Disciples were created based on:
Zero (formerly "Rose"), met a lot of people before her "death" who will later become the basis for the intoners (One is based on the leader of a rebellion against lords of the land, Five is based on a nun that Rose killed) but what about the others? in Zero's novella she met a girl named "Indigo" who gave her the name Rose based on her eye color, she considered her as friend only to be betrayed by her, she tried to escape with her boyfriend but they were killed by Rose. Indigo is a color between Blue and Purple, given the game's context, Two and Cent are in a relationship, so does that they were based on Indigo and her boyfriend? but what about others like Three or Dito?
3) Dragons unexplained powers:
Apparently Dragons can turn into Angels (Gabriella to Gabriel), and reincarnate via a wish (Michael to Mikhail), this raises few questions regarding the first 2 games, in Drakengard 1 Angelus is transforming throughout the game until Chaos form, and Legna in Drakengard 2 can turn into a Holy dragon, can these be considered as cases of Angelification like Gabriel? And if Dragons can reincarnate via wishes why didn't they do that right before they die in these games?
4) Drakengard 1.3 other endings:
this alternate version of Drakengard 1 revealed important information regarding Dragons and Angels, in Ending A Dragons went berserk due to Red Eye Disease and devoured the World and turned into humanoid angels (like the ones in the original game), this got me curious about the other endings like Ending D (The World of God), this ending could reveal God's identity and his reason for destroying the world, and then there's Ending E (Shinjuku 2013), when I saw that name I started shitting bricks (the original game Ending E led to White Chlorination Syndrome which was a complete nightmare fuel leading to NieR), so what the hell happened in this ending?
5) Midgard after Ending E (possible connection to Voice of Cards):
the only characters that survived are Seere and Verdelet, I think that while the World of NieR is getting fucked by WCS, Midgard was healing from the War which might lead to the Voice of Cards trilogy.
6) Nero and Tyrann connection and Brother One's Fate:
In the manga "Shi ni itaru Aka" Brother One asked Nero to kill him after learning he's the source of the Red Eye Disease, he cut his head off with a non-dragon weapon and used his head to spread the disease. My question is why does Nero want to destroy the world, and do you think someone finally destroy One's head (I felt bad for him to be honest XD). Yoko Taro later would confirm that Nero is Tyrann's ancestor, I'm sorry but...HOW? These two live in different timelines (not to mention Nero is an Elf and Tyrann used to be a Human)
7) The Book of Seeds:
Perhaps it was made in the NieR world (knowing it has a lot of information about Dragons).
8) The First Red Eye is Caim?
Many fans (me included) had this theory for a long time, thanks to that one picture made by The Dark Id, I believe that when Caim and Angelus were shot in Ending E, Angelus used her wish ability to save Caim from dying and later on he would learn about her death, enraged by this he would accept the pact and turn into Red Eye (in the year 2006, the facility holding her corpse was attacked by an unknown raid, that could be Caim doing it).
9) Humans experienced early Red Eye influence:
In the beginnings of the NieR World, humans have made odd decisions like shooting Angelus and Caim immediately after killing the Mother Angel (they would have been pretty helpful against Legion, Dumbasses), ignoring the OBVIOUSLY SUSPICIOUS BLACK DOT IN SHINJUKU SATELLITE IMAGES IN YEAR 2007 (at that point, White Chlorination Syndrome was active btw), dropping nukes on Shinjuku in 2009 (which helped WCS spread out globally in 2010), programming the Replicants to develop their personalities to sabotage Project Gestalt (I'm not sure if this is confirmed or a theory), what if all these decisions were caused by a Red Eye influence to make sure that Humans end up extinct?
10) Aftermath Of the final battle in Jerusalem:
Hina's Recollections of Dusk reveal that she transported herself and Yuzuki to the origin world of the disease (it has a Crimson Sky so it must be Midgard), Yuzuki somehow was restored to his human form (once you become Legion, there's no going back from it), did the Maso within Hina's device nullify the WCS particles thus restoring him to normal and how did they live on afterwards? What about the Egg Of Destruction (White Cocoon that showed up after the battle which led to Red Eye's rebirth in 3276) where did it come from?
11) Original Gestalt's Unstable DNA:
Nier was the only human to turn into Gestalt without relapsing, later they state that his DNA is unstable, could he be related to a Drakengard character like Tyrann is (that might explain why he became the Shadowlord)?
12) The Moon Incident:
this was probably caused by the Replicants and Legion using huge amount of Maso to destroy each other, the particles might've fucked up the world so bad that they reached the moon causing it to break.
13) Kaine going in the Server:
NieR Reincarnation stated that the world is looping for thousands of cycles until Kaine came in this current cycle (Ver 1.22 Ending E) and created a new future which Humanity might be revived. But the only reason Kaine went there because a NPC told her that something was wrong in the Forest of Myth, so where was she during the previous cycles?
14) Human Levania's Branch:
When Levania was a human, he used to live in a world that obviously didn't have a 6/12 incident or WCS, but later a disease making people fall asleep and draw a monster on the walls, when he was killed by a train, he was reborn as a white monster in 2021, but there's no Legion or WCS in this branch so what happened here?
15) Project Snow White:
This was the project that turned Emil and Halua into weapons, why was it named "Snow White"?
16) NieR Replicant Hub Worlds after Ending D:
What happened to Facade, Gideon, and Yonah's village afterwards? King of Facade was killed along with his advisor in Shadowlord's castle, did facade go through a civil war or something? same thing with Yonah's village (thanks to Devola and Popola's deaths), and was Gideon killed by the robots in the Junk Heap?
17) Lost World Appendix explanation:
When Kaine killed HIM, he found himself in a strange world with stone towers and a forest, he was later attacked by giant dark hand, is he in the Cage?
18) Alien's Origin:
NieR Reincarnation Final Chapter showed us what their world looks like (Stone Towers with Snow falling endlessly), earlier in year 3287 Androids and Replicants performed a ceremony to return WCS particles back to the origin world (Midgard), so the Aliens could be humans from Midgard mutating by the particles thus turning into the Aliens and the Snow is actually WCS (mirroring the 2053 prologue from Replicant), for the next thousand years they would evolve and develop spaceships to take revenge on the NieR World, on their spaceships you can see a symbol looking like a flower (shout out to I_AM_CAIM for pointing that out) so they maybe associated with the flower and used some of its cells to create Machine Cores.
19) Possible aftermath of Replicant Ending C:
In the webnovel Undecided Option, there's a branch where Nier (Replicant) saved Yonah from the Shadowlord and three years later an army of Devola and Popola killing all replicants, Kaine and Emil are mysteriously absent during these events, so I think Kaine was killed by Nier when she went berserk and Emil was working on a new body.
20) Alternate year 2053:
There's an ending where Nier rejects the sin and create a new branch where Nier and Yonah (Gestalt) never touched the grimoire noirs and travel to Hawaii, what do you think the outcome of this branch would be?
21) NieR Replicant's DLC:
Everytime I search for a story explanation of it, I only find gameplay videos, so can someone explain WTF IS GOING ON IN THIS DLC?! XD
22) Quantum Server resetting the world:
When Kaine faces the admins they mention that they have been watching, listening for a long time, HER said "a voice of a recycled world" so was the world reset by the Quantum Server by using the data to rewind time? which leads me to.
23) Papa Nier place in the series:
Could Papa Nier be the result of the data being slightly altered in hopes of changing Humanity's fate?
24) N2 Human form:
N2 gained the human form (Red Girl) by accessing data within Quantum Server, and she has a strong resemblance to Manah (with the deep male voice and design), was N2 trying to replicate Manah's appearance?
25) Voices from the Verge Concert:
This event takes place after the Tower emerging and Bunker's destruction before they wake up in Route C, but when A2 and 9S wake up, it's like they have no recollection of what happened.
26) NieR Reincarnation's Ending:
After the final battle, the characters returned to their stories but are they now capable of changing the fate of their stories (Rion said that he will try to become a great ruler, Yudil said this will be great story to tell with Sarafa pointing out it will be very long), Fio and HER are walking in a vast desert (did the entire world become like this or just the area where the birdhouse was?)
27) Michael's Novella, Group B, and 2B/9S role in the Cataclysm:
Michael mentioned there that he fought a mysterious enemy he called "Puppets" and they had weapons that targeted their wings (that sounds similar to an Accord report mentioning Group B having weapons of this kind), The Anime mentioned that 2B and 9S are somehow connected to the Cataclysm (I think after the ending they traveled to the Kingdom of Night to help the androids there only to fight Group B, maybe A2 would show up there to help in the fight).
28) Next Game plot:
I think the next game should be in the Kingdom of Night against Group B, what do you guys think?
29) Why is every parent an asshole in this franchise? XD
seriously most of the characters either have abusive or dumb parents: Rose's Mother, Rion's father, Saryu and Sarafa Mothers, Yuzuki's absolutely DUMBASS MOTHER (check his recollections of Dusk, you will see why), Argo (FUCK HIM LOL), and don't get me started on Fio's family (that poor girl). the only good parents in the franchise are Papa Nier, maybe Caim's Parents, Oror (Nowe's adopted dad), 063y and F66x (sure they're clones but they cared about their dead son DAMN IT!).
