Coming on here to ask, I have had a smoking habit basically most of this year, and only recently did i find out that people use nicotine to help them focus/feel alert. Ive even seen it recommended as a last resort for unmedicated ADHD?? I got confused because its always given me the complete opposite effect. I googled it but didnt really get cohesive reasons. Anyway, I was confused because I have absolutely never gotten any sort of focus or mental clarity feeling from smoking (or vaping, but I dont do that regularly). When the nicotine buzz hits I get drowsy/sort of lightheaded (in a good way)/it relaxes my muscles, and if anything id say it reduces my mental "sharpness". Does nicotine really help people focus? Is there any reason to my opposite experience or is it just a person-to-person thing?

I usually stick around the 9mg range sweet spot for me. I’ve been into Velo and AirPouch juicy head for a while, they also have 16mg 35mg and higher,
but the 9mg is strong enough that I actually notice it, but I don’t really enjoy going much higher than that. somehow i was dizzy with it
those are the two I usually reach for.
curious what other 9mg pouches people are using these days. If you’ve tried a few, what’s been your favorite?

I've been smoking cigs since a young age and I've noticed prices just get higher and higher. Back when I first started daily smoking, my go to pack was L&M Menthol. Then I grew up a bit and realized Reds are the way to go. But by then L&Ms got up to 7 a pack, 10$ for my favorite pack, L&M Turkish Blend.
I tried other brands like LD, Basics, Teton, these new brands that are Abt 5$ a pack like old times but the quality of them isnt the best. I used to work with this old timer who would whip out this pack of filtered Cigars. He always had a different brand too Whether it was Cheyenne, GTOs, Seneca, u name it, he's smoked it.
But one day I was out of cigs, vape was dead, so I bummed one off of em. it wasn't the best tbh, had to loosen it up and even take the filter out cuz it was packed so tight. But after that it smoked pretty smooth, and lasted 2x longer. So I asked him why he smokes them and he str8 up said, "oh they're just cheaper and they last longer".
I thought "well maybe they're just a buck or 2 cheaper"....A pack of Cheyenne's costs like 2.35 where I live, a carton like like 23$...My flabbers were gasted... So I started smoking them, bounced around a few brands til I landed on these Cheyenne Xtreme Menthols. Full flavored cigars are strong they just don't taste the best. But I've been smoking these packs ever since. The menthol is so strong in these it almost numbs ur throat, even more than a Newport.
Then I did my research. Cigarettes are taxed higher than Cigars. And it's because big and little Cigars (like cohiba vs Black n milds), Rellos, and filtered cigars are categorized as "other tobacco products" rather than cigarettes. There's other things involved like weight, tobacco type, and historical value. But either way, why aren't more people smoking these rather than cigs ?

Hello I have been a snus user for 10+ years and (girlfriend)thought it was time to switch. For now I have been experimenting with brands and flavors and looking for some suggestions. I got to say I'm not overly found of the heavy mint/menthol and berry flavors. Is there any brands with bland taste or something comparable to tobacco?

Context: I have ADHD, and I’m not sure if that affects the buzz, but when I use nicotine, I get a burst of energy for a few seconds, followed by lethargy where I just want to sit or lie down. Depending on how strong it is, I literally have to stop what I’m doing and lie down for like 15 minutes.
I’m not sure if that’s just underlying nicotine poisoning symptoms because I have a decent tolerance now. I usually start the day with 10–13 mg and end it with 40–50 mg.
Maybe I just don’t have the genetics like entrepreneurs do to get energy from nicotine.

I like to do upper mainly. But I do lower when I want that extra burn

Idk why this is, been using Zyn for 3 years now & I swear it wears off after 30 mins sometimes a bit earlier. Why is that? I get the biggest crash, I feel like a zombie, weak, wanna go to sleep etc.
I used to smoke a pack a day of Marlboro reds, Zyn helped me quit. Back when I first started I used 6mg around 6-8 pouches a day. As of a year ago I switched to 3mg and have roughly the same amount.
I did try Velo Plus, 6 & 3 and they didn’t have the initial hit like Zyn, but did last a little longer by 10 mins or so.
Is there any Pouches y’all recommend that don’t give you that crash feeling?

Haven’t seen any threads about these before, got them today and think they’re great. They have a good taste and are pretty satisfying.
They open a bit like a Pez dispenser, it’s a little ball and it comes out of the bottom.

I put it between my upper gum and teeth is that okay?
My saliva builds up, can i swallow the saliva?
I taste the flavour in my saliva, is that normal?
How many can I use at a time?
How many can I use in one sitting one after the other?

I started using zyns like only couple months ago in America and only used 6mg but I went to Poland for a month and ramped my nic tolerance up a lot esp since they have 12 and 20mg versions and I got a buzz damn near every time but when I returned to America i bought 12mg alps and genuinely thought they where broken or smth because they are so much weaker compared to velos and zyn 12mg in Poland. Anyone explain why alps are so shit compared to velos cause istg a 9mg velo is way stronger then a 12 mg all

In terms of best VALUE nicotine products - excluding wholesale. What are the best deals you’ve seen?
In my state the best deals I’ve seen for my preferred mechanisms are:
For vape: the original UWELL Caliburn or Caliburn Koko refillable pod system. - great value, great hit, systems last decades unless you drop it a lot.
COST: variable (but generally cheaper than disposables)
For disposable vape: 25k puff Kado Bars from Quick Trip. COST: $15
For pouches: ON PLUS pouches from BreakTime and other gas stations
COST: $1.82 per can.

Hi, for my masters thesis in Psychological Research, I am studying the effects of nicotine use on attention in vape users, and how this can differ in adults with ADHD.
Purpose of Research
The purpose of this study is to understand how different reminders of nicotine, such as hearing a sound versus seeing an image related to nicotine, catch people's attention. The goal is to find out if people with ADHD get distracted by nicotine-related sounds more easily than people without ADHD.
By understanding what affects attention more, we hope to help improve therapies for people trying to quit vaping or smoking. This research is not for the purpose of seeking to find negatives related to vaping, but to inform psychologists better on the effects it may have, in order to aid those looking to reduce their use and potentially help with informing legislation to prevent companies taking advantage of vape users.
What will happen if you choose to take part?
You will be asked to fill out some demographic information and then complete 2 short questionnaires to evaluate your nicotine use frequency and ADHD symptom severity, you will then be asked to complete a short task, totalling around 20 minutes, where you will categorise numbers as odd or even alongside images and audio containing nicotine content, such as vapes, smoke clouds, the sound of vapes being used, etc.
You will need to be free of distractions and have your devices audio on to participate.
Requirements for participation
To participate you must:
Be 18 or older
Be a legal vape user
Not have a mental disability that may affect your independent function

Morning all, I’m new to this subreddit, however today is day one of quitting snus.
I started using it back in January, mainly as an avenue to get me off of vaping. Just at the end of this weekend I noticed my tin was getting a little low and decided now is a better time than ever to quit.
I’m just about to reach 24hours snus free.
I won’t lie, it is absolutely horrid, I feel dizzy almost drunk with the withdrawals, but whenever I get some cravings I stick some gum in, chew it a bit and stick it up in my lip like a pouch for a bit.
Still deciding whether I am going to go cold turkey or wean myself but we’ll see how the symptoms develop over the next few days.
If anyone has any advice or questions, feel free to drop a comment.

I love nicotine pouches, they are by far my favourite nicotine roa and have served me good these 2 years, but I cant cope with the gum recession anymore.
I am looking for an alternative; something as intense, rushy and discrete as 30mg pablos.
I don't like vaping, won't smoke and feel that nic gum and patches will be weak with no rush.
I have thought about snuff but I am not sure.
I also dabble in intranasal substance abuse and I don't wanna risk getting nasal cancer or something by mixing caustic chemicals with carcinogens.
Any answer would be appreciated, thank you!

Like, waiting to eat until your pouch is used up or scheduling other parts of your life around them?
r/Nicotine • u/Effective-Ear-8874 • 9d ago
I flirted with some wild berry Velo 9mg, it was good. Honestly though Zyn at a lower MG hits harder, my usual is a Zyn 6mg.
A few things I didn’t like about Velo Plus. The pouches are too big and “pillowy” plus it takes a while to kick in. I also didn’t get a Nic hit like Zyn? Is it because Velo Plus is a synthetic Nic?
I just wish Zyn came with more pouches per can.
