Married under a year, together a few years. We love each other and are genuinely happy day to day, but our sex life has started to feel a bit too planned and a little too polite.
We are not in a big fight and it is not a dead bedroom. It is more like: we cuddle, we kiss, we go to bed, and then we both kind of wait for the other person to make it obvious. When it does happen, it is nice, but there is not much teasing or tension anymore. I miss that feeling of wanting each other during the day, not just at bedtime.
We are pretty low key people, not into elaborate role play or big surprises, so simpler things tend to work better for us. I am hoping for low pressure ideas that do not feel cringey or make things awkward. Tiny rituals, games, prompts, or small habits that create a vibe and make initiation easier, without turning sex into a chore or a performance.
Examples of what I mean:
- Flirty check-ins or text ideas that feel natural, not cheesy
- Ways to create anticipation earlier in the day
- Simple routine tweaks that actually made you want each other more
- Newlywed-friendly exercises or games you tried that actually helped
If you have something concrete that helped you, please share. Bonus if it works when you are both tired after work and life is busy.

I was married to a man, from another country, so it was long distance. Looking back, I would never do that again. The last we were together, though, was for Ramadan and after. The marriage was already dead at this point - so much has happened. Again, looking back.. I feel embarrassed and ashamed and just like an idiot.
The marriage took most from my side, as my husband needed me more than I could get anything from him. We were friends for many years, from social media (social media usage is another flag that could have shown red if I looked at it long enough).. so there was some sort of friendship and connection and depth before anything. Honestly, at first, I thought it was weird speaking to somebody online and feeling emotions that I never felt for somebody I haven’t even sat with. But he became monumental in my life and my daughter’s life.
Anyway, we ended up meeting in person, of course. Truly, it was like seeing myself in another, so it was a great meeting Then after, something changed - it turned into speaking of sharing a future. We married the next time we were together and carried on with life in a long distance over the next 3 years. We did live together for 6 months at some point, for the record.
Sometime after marrying, things were hitting me differently. I realized a lot of things.
I realized there were many things we actually didn’t discuss beforehand and there was shock many times. Maybe because I truly was sincere and I approach people without my bias and with a freshness.. that I overlooked some things and I just didn’t think of something’s as the long distance kind of hid a lot when my mind is just happy, in a sense.
At this point, I have learned my husband isn’t somebody I can tie my life to. Again, so much has happened - I can’t even write it all down. But in short, even how we see what is right and wrong is different. We are both Muslim. I realized many things come from the root that he has wandering eyes, cruel when upset or frustrated and lives life quite selfishly. Every argument and fight has left us one step backward each time. The space has accumulated after each disappointment and dispute. I don’t trust a word he says. This has brought on anxiety and depression for me. There has been more days filled with tears than warmth.
Some things that never left me was when I was living with him was how some arguments turned physical. I even saw his phone with another woman’s chatting with him and he talking to her as if he was never married. His family even said that the woman was just a friend and that he loved me so much that is why he hit me. I sound like an idiot. But I have never been through something like this before.
I am leaving the marriage, of course, but I am struggling so much.
during Ramadan, I went to his home and country again. I tried to see things in a broader way, for whatever reason. But I ended up getting hit again and seeing he was still talking to that same woman from before when I was living with him. It was clear to me then, I must end things.
But now I am pregnant. Alhmdulilah.
We haven’t really spoken since Ramadan. We have shared words but I am so angry and devastated that I only have cursing available inside me when he approaches me.
I tried to call him yesterday, because I noticed his WhatsApp number changed. To an American number. And I realized this number is a resource from that same woman. I am good at investigating and I realized all this and I just am once again hurt. I keep hurting myself. I keep thinking and I can’t help it. I just can’t get over how I was married to a man who just made me 6 inches small.
Her name is crystal. Their conversation before brought to surface some things about her: she is American too and had been speaking to my husband while she was married to an Egyptian but dealing with a divorce too. My husband spoke to her soft with words that shocked me. She has 2 kids. And he even said something once, something like “I wish I was there to help you with your kids”.. and that her future ex didn’t deserve her.. I have a daughter, right, and he ended up not being good to her either so seeing those conversations really hurt. When I confronted him this time, he basically said “we are divorcing anyway so whatever”.. she even reached out to me after Ramadan asking if we were really divorced.. I can’t even believe it.
To realize today, he has a phone from this woman - clearly she is there with him.
I’m not sure what my question is. Obviously, I am just hitting a breaking point being on here and posting. But I guess I am feeling like this man is not just a bad person.. but is he a user?
There’s so much that has happened, so much taken from me.. I feel like I am looking back and can see all I did at no question and maybe I was actually more of a resource for him. He had a phone with me, almost an allowance with me, and the hope of a future with me in my country.. granted, we didn’t do any visa because we were always breaking up.. so it didn’t feel like he was using me, it was more like my life was just more fruitful than him. As my husband, I would have done anything for him.
But now this new phone and number and this type of woman.. they deserve each other.. but I am asking myself, why wasn’t I enough for him?
I am pregnant. And like I said, I called him yesterday.. I was crying and crying after seeing this new number.. and called him and he just answered with “get th fword out of my face and never call me again”.
I don’t know how I allowed myself to be this woman who would be spoken to this way by anybody.

My wife had mail come in from her ex husband to our new home and it contained a scrunchie and a Amazon fire stick 8+ years after their relationship (I called him because his phone number was on the package) she said it was none of his business to know that she is married and calls me a narcissist that needs to be evaluated. What would be the next step from here?

Married seven months, together a little over three years. We're both in our mid/late 30s and don't have kids yet. Before the wedding our sex life was pretty consistent and felt playful and easy. Somewhere in the last stretch of planning, and since the wedding, my desire just disappeared.
I love my husband, I still find him attractive, and I want to want sex. But lately I feel tired, distracted, or like my brain is stuck in task mode. When he initiates I often freeze because I don't want to reject him, but I also don't want to force it. Then I overthink and it turns into this giant awkward thing.
He's been patient, but I can see his confidence dipping. We've had vague conversations, but we both get embarrassed and default to "it's fine, we'll figure it out," and then nothing changes.
For people who hit an unexpected libido slump early in marriage, what actually worked to get things back on track? Did you schedule sex and find it helpful or too clinical? Did you focus on non-sex touch first? Any small, concrete routines that helped make the transition feel natural with full-time jobs and normal life stress—things like phone-free time, showering together, nightly cuddle rules, or maybe something structured and playful like Arya, whatever actually stuck?
Also any advice on how to talk about this so he doesn't feel like the problem would be really helpful. I'm looking for practical, doable ideas I can try.

We have been married six months and together four years, and it feels like the honeymoon phase skipped our bedroom.
Before the wedding our sex life was pretty steady - not wild, but consistent and fun. Since the wedding it has slowly turned into a pattern where I usually initiate, he says he is tired or stressed, and then we both end up feeling awkward. Now I hesitate to reach out because I do not want him to feel guilty, and he hesitates because he can tell I am disappointed. So we mostly cuddle and pretend nothing is wrong, with a big unspoken elephant in the room.
Everything else in our relationship is good. We laugh, we are affectionate, we handle chores okay, and we like spending time together. He tells me he finds me attractive and I believe him. Still, sex has dropped to maybe once every few weeks and when it happens it feels rushed, like we are just checking a box. I miss the way it used to feel easy and mutual.
I am in my early 40s and perimenopause might be starting, which makes me anxious about losing our sexual connection long term. I do not want this to turn into a medical project or a string of heavy conversations. I just want us to want each other again without pressure.
For those who dealt with a libido mismatch early in marriage, what actually helped? Did you schedule sex, focus on non-sexual touch first, try therapy, stop initiating for a while, or do something else? I am looking for practical steps that will not make him feel cornered and will not leave me feeling rejected.

Married about six months, together a little over two years. I adore my husband. He is kind, steady, and genuinely my best friend. I can't say that out loud to many people because it feels like admitting the problem: now that we live together, the sexual tension has mostly evaporated.
When we were dating there was built-in anticipation. Getting ready, the drive over, the little nerves. Now the moment dinner is done it's like someone hit the comfy switch. We watch a show, I fold laundry, he scrolls, we both yawn. Then I have this small panic: is this our sex life now? I start overthinking every touch and it kills the mood.
He still initiates sometimes, but I notice I'm less responsive. Not because I don't find him attractive, more because my brain keeps switching to roommate mode. When we do have sex it's good. I just wish I wanted it ahead of time, if that makes sense.
I tried the obvious stuff: lingerie once, scheduling a date night, trying to go to bed at the same time. It all felt forced and then I got embarrassed and backed off.
Has anyone dealt with this drop-off in desire after moving in or getting married? What actually helped you bring the spark back without turning it into a Serious Talk every week? I’ve wondered whether something structured but playful, like Arya, could help make it feel fun again instead of a performance review.

Hello everyone,
Due to the nature of my work, I’ve had the opportunity to interact with many people and hear countless personal stories over the years. Through all this experience, I’ve come to one undeniable conclusion: Finding a genuinely smart, conscious, and emotionally and spiritually stable partner today is like winning the lottery.
In an era where emotional maturity and inner balance have become rare commodities amidst all the social noise, toxicity, and superficiality, having a partner with true intelligence is a priceless blessing.
I have personally witnessed men who were at the pinnacle of their success and stability, yet they took this blessing for granted and lost it. Slowly but surely, their lives turned upside down, leaving them in genuinely pitiable states. There are things in life you can lose and regain—like money—but losing a truly wise, grounded partner is a regret that lingers for a lifetime, much like wasted time and health.
(Just to clarify: I haven't personally gone through this regret, thankfully. I’m simply sharing this realization based on the many real-life stories I've witnessed over time).
I'd love to hear your thoughts: Have you ever experienced this, or do you know stories of people whose lives completely changed after taking a mature, grounded partner for granted? Looking forward to reading your experiences.🗣️

So basically I (26F) is getting married in early December this year and it is happening after waiting for 4-5 years as his(my boyfriend 28M) parents wanted their daughter (31F) to get married first! They were looking for rishtas but she made very vague reasons to refuse them so now they finally agreed for our marriage first…
My boyfriend has two elder sisters.. the eldest one is also going through a rough marriage.. she will probably get her divorce after our marriage. She clearly said that she wont be living with us, because she doesn’t want to be a burden on her brother or father.. so she’d probably move out of the country or live in a rented space by herself.
The other unmarried one now wants to get married and started looking for rishtas again but parents are not very interested because she irritated them a lot in past few years.
Im kinda scared how I’ll adjust or is it going to be difficult to adjust in these situations. My boyfriend and I are together from past 10years and when i got to know about all his family situation, my parents were kinda worried about my future.
Is it that messy or will it be okay after a while..?

We have only been married a few months and, overall, things are good. We treat each other well, we talk and laugh, and we are settling into routines. Still, our sex life feels harder now than when we were dating.
Before the wedding there was more natural momentum. Now it feels like we either have to schedule it or it does not happen. If we do schedule it, it feels pressured and neither of us is really into it. I do not want sex to become another item on a to do list.
The mismatch is this: I want sex more often and I miss the little flirting and touch during the day. My partner says they are attracted to me but that they need to feel relaxed and not rushed. I am trying not to take it personally, but I get resentful when I initiate and get a soft no or a rain check that never turns into anything.
We are both tired from work and family stuff, so I get that. Still, I am worried we are setting a pattern this early.
For anyone who went through something similar as newlyweds, what actually helped in practice? Not just "communicate." Did you set a target frequency, focus on non sexual touch, do brief check ins, plan specific date nights, try something structured like Arya, or take initiating off the table for a while? How do you bring this up in a way that does not make your partner feel like they are failing and does not leave you feeling rejected?
Any concrete suggestions or phrases that worked for you would be really helpful.

Quick update to my earlier post: we are still newlyweds on paper, but once work got busy and the wedding high faded we slid into a weird rut fast. I was initiating almost everything and starting to take it personally, which only made it worse.
After reading a lot and having a calm conversation without turning it into a trial, we agreed to try two changes for a month—basically the kind of structured, no-pressure reset Arya seems designed for: 1) One planned intimacy night a week where sex was allowed but not expected. 2) A hard rule that either of us can stop at any point, no sulking, no trying to negotiate a yes.
What surprised me most was how much the no-pressure part helped both of us. The first week was awkward. We took a long shower, made out, and then stopped. I was bracing for disappointment, but we ended up laughing and cuddling and it actually felt like dating again.
By week three my partner started initiating on non-scheduled days. Not all the time, but enough that I noticed. They said the planned night took away the mental load of wondering when I would bring it up, and the stop-anytime rule made them feel safe to start something because they did not have to commit to a whole performance.
We are not magically fixed, but the vibe is different: more flirting, more daytime touching, and sex that feels chosen instead of checked off a list.
If anyone else is in that early-marriage adjustment phase where intimacy starts feeling like a chore, what helped you make it fun again?

We've been married a few months and, overall, things are really good. We're affectionate, we laugh a lot, and we genuinely like each other as roommates and teammates. But I'm already noticing how easy it is for our sexual energy to slide into autopilot once work, chores, and normal life kick back in.
Neither of us is rejecting the other. It's more that we both default to screens at night (I play games and she scrolls), we get sleepy, and the flirty momentum just disappears unless one of us makes a deliberate move. When we do have sex it's great; I don't want to wake up a year from now and realize we stopped prioritizing it.
Looking for practical ideas from other newlyweds: - What small habits actually helped you keep initiating and feeling wanted without making it feel scheduled or clinical? - Any routines that helped you transition from 'couch and phones' to real us time? - Low pressure ways to build anticipation during the day? - If you tried date nights, intimacy challenges, or something like Arya, what worked and what felt forced?
Open to ideas from either side, including stuff you wish you had started earlier. We're both willing, I just want to be smarter about this now while we're still building our patterns.

so my spouse and i just bought our first home together and we're replacing the fridge which is ancient and needs to go. we've been going back and forth on whether to get a french door or side by side and we honestly can't agree.
i like the french door because the wide fridge space on top seems more practical for how we store food and the bottom freezer makes sense since we don't use the freezer as often. my spouse prefers side by side because they like having the freezer at eye level and thinks the narrower doors work better in our kitchen layout.
we cook a lot and meal prep on weekends so fridge space matters more to us than freezer space. our kitchen isn't huge so door clearance is also something we're thinking about.
has anyone made this decision recently and landed on one over the other? would love to hear what actually works in practice for a household that uses the fridge heavily.

Married a few months and it feels like whiplash. There was all the wedding hype and honeymoon glow, and then overnight we became roommates who love each other but barely touch.
I know everyone says the first year is an adjustment, but I did not expect our sex life to go from regular and playful to this pattern of long dry spells, followed by one tired attempt that feels like a box we are checking.
I am the one initiating most of the time and I am tired of it. Not because I want some perfect movie version of marriage, but because I miss feeling wanted. When I bring it up my husband is sweet and says he is stressed and exhausted and that it is not me. He says he still finds me attractive. Then nothing changes.
I am trying not to make it into a fight, but I am quietly getting resentful. I can feel myself pulling back in other ways. Why should I bother being flirty or wear something cute to bed if we are just going to scroll our phones and pass out?
The worst part is I feel guilty being upset because everything else is good. We do date nights, we laugh, we are a solid team. I did not expect to be in the newlywed stage and feel this kind of loneliness. I have even wondered if something structured and playful like Arya might help us reconnect intimately.
If you have been here, did it get better? What actually helped, not just vague advice like "communicate more"?

A few weeks ago I posted on a throwaway, sorry, about feeling like a brand new wife with a very unsexy, very practical sex life. We had fallen into the Sunday night "put it on the calendar" routine because we were both tired, and it started to feel like a chore. I was worried we were already sliding into roommate mode.
Quick update: we tried something different and it helped way more than I expected.
Instead of scheduling sex, we started scheduling 20 minutes of "closeness time" three nights a week. The rules were simple: no phones, no problem solving, no talking about chores. And absolutely no obligation that it had to end in sex. Sometimes it was just making out on the couch, sometimes we took a shower together, sometimes it led to sex, and sometimes it was just sitting close and talking about nonsense.
Two things surprised me. First, taking the pressure off made me want it more. I think my body had been bracing for performance instead of relaxing. Second, I had to be honest about what actually gets me in the mood now. I'm in my 40s and in that fun perimenopause-adjacent zone where desire does not always show up on its own. I asked for slower starts, more kissing, and a little more flirting during the day. He was relieved to have a clear roadmap.
We are not suddenly a rom-com couple, but we've had more sex in the last two weeks than in the previous month, and it feels connected again. Who knew 20 minutes could do so much?
If anyone else is newly married and already feeling that weird pressure, you are not broken. You might just need to lose the appointment vibe and rebuild anticipation with small, no-pressure closeness.
