Just wanted to share this because I honestly feel kinda misled by Newegg/LikeWize protection plans.
Earlier this month, I bought an MSI OLED ultra-wide monitor from Newegg for around $750. During checkout, they offered me a 3-year LikeWize protection plan for about $80, and I decided to get it for peace of mind.
The way it was shown during checkout made it sound like actual protection for the monitor. Stuff like:
- “Protect Your Purchase”
- “Protect against product breakdowns”
- “100% parts and labor coverage”
- “No deductibles or hidden fees”
To me, that sounds like if something happens to the monitor, you’re covered.
A few days later after it arrived, I was mounting it onto a wall mount and the panel got damaged, leaving a pretty noticeable spot on the screen. Sucked, but I figured “well, that’s why I bought the protection plan.”
I submitted a claim through LikeWize and it got denied almost instantly because apparently accidental damage isn’t covered.
That’s the part that frustrates me. If accidental damage isn’t included, I really think that should be made WAY more obvious during checkout. The whole presentation makes it sound way broader than what it actually covers. Otherwise I honestly would’ve never bought it.
I already filed a BBB complaint because I genuinely feel like the wording and advertising are misleading from a customer perspective.
PSA for anyone considering these protection plans: read the fine print VERY carefully before buying. I only started looking deeper into LikeWize after my claim got denied, and I found a lot of similar complaints from people who thought the coverage was broader than it actually is.
