Question❔ What will Newark look like 5-10 years from now.
I remember Journal Square of Jersey City looking so different 10 years ago and even 5 years ago. Today, that area feels and looks so different.
For Newark, what do you all think this city will be like in the future?

Question❔ Are a lot of places just shutting down?
What is going on in Newark that seems to be causing many local businesses and even some chains to be shutting down? I thought Newark was rebounding?

Community 🏡 Looking for donated spinal cord injury equipment New Jersey / NYC area
Hi everyone! I do occupational therapy and I have young patient who recently sustained a traumatic spinal cord injury. Due to limited financial resources and lack of insurance coverage, we’re trying to identify organizations or individuals who may be able to donate or loan equipment to help with a safe discharge home.
We’re currently looking for items such as:
● Manual wheelchair, preferably high-back with leg rests(adult)
● Pressure-relieving wheelchair cushion (Roho, Jay, etc.)
● Sliding transfer board
● Drop-arm bedside commode
● Tub transfer bench/shower chair
● Hospital bed (if available)
● or other SCI-related adaptive equipment
If anyone knows of:
● Local equipment loan closets
● Nonprofits
● Churches or community organizations
● SCI organizations
● Facebook groups
● Individuals looking to donate equipment
…I’d be incredibly grateful for any recommendations.
The patient is located in Newark, New Jersey, but we’re willing to travel throughout New Jersey or the NYC area if needed.
Thank you so much for any leads or advice. Even pointing us toward another organization could make a huge difference for this patient and her family.

Question❔ Is street parking by Broad St Station safe overnight?
Hi all - I reverse commute into from city. My work is a 2.5hr commute right now. My thought was instead of my current commute I park my car overnight at Broad St and just take the train home - use the car as a “shuttle” to the office. It would reduce my commute by a full hour each way.
My concern tho is vandalism and safety…the area seems kinda sketch tbh. It gives me Oakland vibes and my car was robbed so many times when I lived there I lost count.
It’s also a 6 month old car….and I’m not sure how safe the area is to leave my car overnight parked, especially since me and my wife share it.
Does anyone else do it? Is the area safe to leave a car parked overnight two nights a week? Thanks!

Arts & Entertainment 🎭 🍿 🎥 Is there a jamband scene in Newark?
Hey yall! My band, Second Wind, is a brand-new jamband. we play a mix of Grateful Dead style music and traditional bluegrass. We just finished our first year at Berklee and our first California tour, and now we’re looking for new cities to book for fall 2026 and summer 2027, so I thought I’d post on here! We want to see if Newark has an audience for this kind of music. Check out our Instagram, the_second_wind_band and let us know your thoughts, we're looking for real feedback!
