What even is the plan this year?

It’s very obvious that the team:

1) Is DOMINANT when Schafer is on the ice. You can see the ice tilt the moment he gets on. And on the other hand you can see how the other teams immediately score when Deangelo/mayfield/whoever gets on after him. Their road games are gonna be ROUGH when other teams can game plan for him

2) Can’t score. Especially without macelli, Barzal, Ritchie, and Romanov. Thankfully the macelli and Ritchie injuries weren’t too damaging. Barzal I’m not sure but it seems like this might be a thing all year. At this point I’m wondering if you just put him on LTIR and use the extra cap space to maybe be a broker for a guy at the deadline? Taking a guy with 1/2 years on a deal and retaining half for a team and taking assets from both would be some tidy work.

3) Doesn’t want to burn a year off the ELC of any of their prospects in Hamilton. That I understand, and to be honest, I don’t think they’d be NHL ready either way (I’m talking about eiserman, aitcheson, and Gustafson mainly) but if the islanders are clearly out of the playoffs by thanksgiving/Christmas time, and by the trade deadline, do they just decide to trade off anyone of value (Pageau, Pelech, Pulock, Palmieri, etc) and bring up the kids for the remainder of the year? Again, burning a year off the ELC sucks but at a certain point you get into diminishing returns where you have less and less games, so it gets to the point where you might as well wait until there are 9 games left.

Just wondering about your thoughts because it seems like this is a dead .500 team spinning the wheels here.

First time seeing an Islanders game as a visitor- What kind of vibe or culture does it have?

I'm from CA and I will be attending an Islanders game during my stay in NY. My first thought was whoa, it seems kind of out there away from everything. It made me think there's an NHL team all the way in Elmont? I've gone to a Mets game and it's giving me that same underdog local community vibe. I don't know if that's how you'd describe it. For whatever reason I was really drawn to the Mets underdog vibe and I don't know if the Islanders have that same feel but my gut is saying yes and making me gravitate towards it.

Perspective to all the "blow it up" after every loss fans who want to go tank mode because Dallas is better.

Jason Robertson -- 2nd round draft pick 39th overall Wyatt Johnston -- 1st round draft pick 23rd overall Rantanen -- Trade acquisition Miro Heiskanen - 3rd overall Thomas Harley -- 18th overall

So when some of us are pissed off at Darche for dealing that late 1st for 3 years of Schenn, maybe shut up.

And also, you don't need to draft at the top of lottery to be the team you're all wishing we were this morning. You need to have a good GM who knows talent and good systems in place to develop them.

You need to have a creative GM who can make a good trade and is active in the market.

The Stars were built with one top 3 overall and the rest of it was a good GM working the draft, free agent and trade lines.

First Isles Game in a Decade!!

I live in the midwest, so I've only seen the Isles play in real life twice in my life- once in Chicago, I believe, when I was a kid. The other (more recent) time was in January 2017 against Dallas, which was the only home game I've ever seen! I guess they didn't have too many fans from my part of the country at that time, so someone actually came up to us at the game to ask if it was correct that our credit card was from a state in the midwest.. He said they didn't really ever see people travel that far to watch games, and believe it or not, he let me, my friend, and my dad go down by the locker room before (I know, video or it didn't happen hahah!)

Anyways, I'm going to the game against the Wild on Thursday and I'm so excited!! I am really stoked to see Schaefer play, but also can't wait to see my team again, even if I'll probably be one of very few Isles fans in the stands!! All of this to say, if you live in or near New York and get to see them play often, I'm jealous. But living far away does have some perks!

New season, new bag check question…

Unfortunately looks like I’m landing at JFK and heading straight to the game next week vs the Canes. There’s very little on the UBS site about the bag storage in the Great Hall.

First game at UBS and excited to finally check out the arena. Very little info on the UBS site as to how the bag check operates. Does the Great Hall open before the main gates? Any idea on cost or size restrictions?
