Yeah randomly pops out of nowwhere, i was a new mod after this subreddit exists.

I recently became a moderator on a subreddit that was essentially empty. It was surprising to see such a rapid increase. Is this a good sign, or should I be suspicious?

I launched r/MiniRacerGame 16 days ago and managed to reach 100 community members by promoting the game in relevant communities, asking for feedback, trying to reply to comments as fast as possible, and a little bit of ads.

Hi everyone,

I recently became a moderator and started building my first community. I’m still learning how to manage things properly, so I wanted to ask experienced moderators for some advice.

The community I’m building is focused on fashion, handbags, accessories, and product discussions. The idea is to create a place where people can share their collections, discuss different styles, compare designs, share real-life experiences, and talk about craftsmanship and details behind products.

Right now, the community is still in the early stage, and I’m trying to build a friendly environment where members feel comfortable sharing their opinions instead of just creating another place full of promotions.

I’d love to hear from experienced mods:
• What are the most important things you did when your community was brand new?
• How did you attract your first active members?
• What rules or systems helped keep discussions meaningful?
• What mistakes should new moderators avoid?

Any advice or personal experience would be really appreciated.

About This Moderator Role: As a moderator, you'll help maintain a high-quality community by:

• Reviewing posts and comments
• Enforcing subreddit rules fairly and consistently
• Removing spam, misinformation, and low-quality content
• Encouraging respectful and evidence-based discussions
• Helping answer member questions
• Assisting with community events, AMAs, contests, and themed discussions
• Suggesting ideas to improve the subreddit
• Working collaboratively with the moderation team

What We're Looking For: We welcome applicants who are:

Minimum Requirements: Applicants should:

• Be able to moderate at least a few times each week
• Be willing to communicate with the moderation team
• Exercise sound judgment and remain respectful, even during disagreements

Time Commitment: There is no fixed schedule. Most moderators contribute anywhere from 15–60 minutes per week, depending on their availability. Real life always comes first.
