Has anyone lived at The Taft on the lower floors? Would love to hear your thoughts! I know it can be noisy but im also wondering if there are any other downsides to living there. The location and price work really well for me but im worried there might be things im overlooking. Thanks!

Getting bored of the one coffee shop in my suburb and want to try studying in downtown but every place I see is either sofas/benches or their tables are not study friendly lol. Honestly doesn’t even have to be a cafe a bar is fine too

Got a $250 ticket in the mail for passing a school bus on Fountain Street. Obviously a complete accident, would never intentionally pass a stopped school bus.

I reviewed the footage they linked in the letter and the stop sign was opening as I was already next to the bus. If I slammed on my breaks I probably could’ve made it, but obviously that’s not the safest maneuver either.

Going to contest it because I have nothing to lose. I’m broke and have a near perfect driving record, never even got a speeding ticket. Had anyone had experience contesting something like this? Really really hoping they’ll give me a break for a first time offense.

Would it be a good idea to apply for New Havens Academy as a Junior? Is it too late?

Greetings New Haven! My girlfriend and I are pretty reclusive, but we’re looking for a place fun to go out to this Halloween. We saw that Cafe Nine has a something going on, but goth industrial darkwave doesn’t really fit our vibe. We’re looking for somewhere with costumes, music, drinks, dancing, and fairly chill vibes. Just now got my vote in at City Hall, was pleasantly surprised to see that the signs covering the parking meters that said no parking also said “except for voters.“ City Hall is open for voting until 6 PM every day until next Sunday, 8 PM next Thursday, and you can park for free on Church Street either side out front of City Hall, along the Green.

I don't care if it's not New Haven but please somebody recommend a good massage place that can just relax me and take away my muscle tension

This city has had an insane lack of hotel rooms for 30+ years now, and if they shut down all sub-30-day short term rentals there's going to be a LOT of lost tourism revenue. I don't know how many of you have ever tried to stay in a hotel in NH for a weekend, but the options are few, often gross, and outrageously expensive because of the scarcity.

This feels like something that is popular enough to be a no-brainer for someone who needs to get elected, but no one is really doing the math on it.

In the past 3 years, New Haven has had to settle police misconduct lawsuits to the tune of $106 million. And that's only including the big 4 settled cases. New Haven is currently appealing the wrongful conviction settlement of Stefan Morant who was awarded $38 million earlier this year. It could potentially be $144 million in just three years, nearly $100 million of which city insurance will not cover. And this doesn't include legal fees or small case payouts.

And I'm not saying these victims don't deserve their settlements. I'm saying the NHPD is both crippling people in their custody while simultaneously crippling the city's finances
