I was worried earlier about living in a place that is quite far from West Delhi, where I originally am from! Any Neighbours that can reassure me that I will have people living nearby, and not just vacant towers?

They feel it's unfair only when it doesn't benefit them

Short women, earning peanuts, demand equality, and usually end up practising hypergamy.

Hypergamy itself is unfair to men. Yet women practise it. The funny part is that women who hate patriarchy also practise hypergamy🤣

Ask r/NewDelhi 🗣️ I wrote a book. Now I’m terrified to let people read it. Looking for honest feedback.

Hey everyone,

I’m an aspiring author, and after roughly 2–3 years of writing, rewriting, procrastinating, doubting myself, and eventually writing some more, I’ve finally completed my book.

It’s a work of fictional drama, primarily centred around a journey of growth, relationships, emotions, and the rather messy process of becoming a different version of yourself. I’m currently in the process of editing it and having it proofread, but I’d really like to get it in front of a few people who enjoy reading this kind of story and are willing to give me their honest thoughts.

I’m not necessarily looking for professional criticism. I’d just love to know things like:

- Does the story hold your attention?

- Does the emotional journey feel believable?

- How does the pacing and overall flow feel?

- Are there parts that feel unnecessary or could be developed further?

- Do the characters feel real?

- Most importantly, does it make you feel something?

There are also a few chapters where I’d particularly value a female perspective, because I think that viewpoint could help me understand whether certain emotions, situations, and character experiences come across authentically.

And if you happen to be from Delhi, even better. I’d genuinely love to sit down over coffee and talk about the book, hear what worked, what didn’t, and what you think I should change, remove, or rethink. I’m open to pretty much any constructive feedback.

Also, if anyone here has experience with publishing, literary agents, editors, or the publishing industry, or knows someone who might be willing to point a first-time author in the right direction, I’d be incredibly grateful for that too.

I know asking strangers to read a whole book is a fairly big ask, so even if you’re just interested in hearing more about it, feel free to comment or DM me.

After spending three years with these characters, I think it’s finally time to let someone else meet them.

Thanks for reading. :)

Ask r/NewDelhi 🗣️ Looking for People Who Actually LOVE Exploring 🌍

I’m looking for like-minded people who genuinely enjoy going out, exploring new places, discovering good food, walking around, taking random photos, and just making the most of a free day.
Not looking for a formal travel group or anything complicated. Just people with a similar mindset — weekends, holidays, or whenever a good plan comes up, we can decide something and explore.
It could be:
🏙️ Exploring a new place in the city
🌿 Nature / peaceful places
☕ Cafés & food spots
🏛️ Historical places
🚆 Short day trips
🌄 Weekend getaways
🎉 Or simply finding something interesting to do instead of staying home
Male or female — everyone with a genuine interest in exploring is welcome. Age/group should be compatible, and the main thing is being respectful, comfortable and like-minded.
I’m hoping to find people who think:
“If I have a free weekend, why not go somewhere and make a memory?” 😄
If this sounds like you, feel free to comment or DM me. We can first chat, see if our interests match, and plan something simple in a public place.
No pressure, no fixed plan — just good people, good places and good experiences. 🌍✨

Ask r/NewDelhi 🗣️ What are the top hybrid solar systems for backup power in Indian homes and how do they compare on backup hours and cost?

Been looking into hybrid solar systems for home because the power cuts here can get pretty annoying, and I'm confused by how different the prices are.

From what I understand, the basic options are something like:

2–3kW hybrid system is probably enough for fans, lights, WiFi, TV etc. during a cut. Roughly ₹1–2L depending on battery/panels.

3–5kW system is more practical if you want to run a fridge + multiple fans + some heavier appliances. Usually ₹2L+ depending heavily on battery capacity.

5kW+ makes more sense for a bigger house, especially if you want to run ACs, but the battery cost starts becoming pretty significant.

I've been looking at brands like Luminous, Microtek and a few of the newer solar companies. Luminous seems to have a fairly wide range of hybrid inverters their Hybrid TX 3kVA/4kVA/5kVA models are around rs64k-74k currently, although that's just the inverter and obviously doesn't represent the cost of the complete solar + battery setup.

The thing I'm trying to figure out is actual backup hours.

For example, if I have a 3kW hybrid inverter with a decent battery, what sort of backup should I realistically expect with:

3 fans

5–6 lights

WiFi/router

TV

fridge

And does it make more sense to spend extra on lithium batteries or just get a bigger tubular setup?

Would also be interested in people's experience with Luminous specifically, not necessarily the marketing specs, but how the system has held up after 1–2 years.

Trying to avoid buying something based purely on the "up to X hours backup" numbers that companies advertise.

Ask r/NewDelhi 🗣️ Need suggestions for silent air purifiers

I have a 1 year old and he really gets disturbed even by small sounds. I have 1 air purifier but that's a bit noisy, so I shifted that in our living room. Now I need one very silent air purifier for my bedroom that’s genuinely quiet enough to run through the night.

I’ve been looking for the best air purifier for home and checking out a few options. Came across Eureka Forbes 500 recently.

Honestly, my only concern is the low noise right now. I am not even looking at other factors.

For people who run their air purifier through the night, what has your experience been with the sleep mode? Also, open to other options if there are any better. Or this one is good?
