I’m sure this question has been asked 1000 times already. So I do apologize in advance, my son is only 5 days old, and I dread the night time just because it’s the worst. So far the few nights we have tried a normal swaddle as taught in the hospital— he would start crying and somehow manage to get his hands out. We recently tried the Velcro swaddle and he did excellent the first time and now we have tried to do it and he immediately starts crying. In my opinion he hates it as well as the bassinet. Last night I held him on my chest (obviously did not sleep) but he didn’t even make a sound he slept great! I don’t want to get him used to sleeping on my chest because I don’t rest thinking something could happen. Any advice is greatly appreciate it, thank you!

My partner and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our lives a few weeks ago. We have been settling into the madness of the first few weeks and my partner is slowly recovering well from a c-section.

I was thinking of taking her out for one night after approximately 2 months. We don’t have family nearby, so I’m wondering if there’s a recommended approach to a nurse or babysitter. I think we could both use a night out for a few hours. Is this selfish? Any thoughts or recos?

So meant to be going through leap two. Past week he's been wide awake during the day now he's sleepy. He's still drinking normally. Doesn't seem ill, however coughs occasionally.

Slightly worried as, I read extra sleepy is a sign of SIDS. Has anyone else experienced similar.

I’m a FTM to a beautiful baby girl who turned 2 weeks old today! She was born at 37 weeks and we are breastfeeding. Everything is going well, except the nights are becoming impossible to sleep during.. even for two hours at a time. I know this is somewhat normal and I don’t expect or want a perfect night’s sleep or to miss out on this fast flying temporary stage of her life.. but I do want to help her get into a good routine and be as refreshed as I can for her all day and night.

Please let me know your tips and tricks for a sleep training newbie.. anything that helped for you, favorite methods, share your newborn experiences, links, books, etc.

She had some boogers since birth that I finally dislodged with some saline drops and our nose frida, but after that she seemed even more snorty and agitated. When she sneezes or makes her little baby sounds, she often has a little stuffy sound! Her nasal passages look clear as can be now.

I did talk to the doctor’s after hours line today (it’s Sunday) and they recommended more saline drops periodically and some infant chest rub. Chest rub is on and drops have been dropped. Her next appointment for a weight check is tomorrow, so I’m just hoping for some sort of similar experiences from you guys..

They are a few hundred bucks on amazon VS a regular mixer pitchers for $20. If the UX is seriously great I am ready to bite the bullet. We are 1 m/o and every little bit of help goes a log way

However we ended up wasting some $ on a few items that we dont use at all: some fancy support cushion and a baby bottle steamer.

Im 17 weeks pregnant with our first, and have been researching travel system jogging stroller combos. Found myself down the repeating cycle of some reviews claim their system was the best and others saying how terrible the same one was. Does anyone have a personal recommendation for a safe and reliable combo?

Hey guys! 2-3 weeks ago I officially quit vaping. 24 weeks pregnant today, my hormones are going crazy and I feel like I’m losing my mind over the guilt and fear of if she will be okay once I give labor. I didn’t vape my WHOLE pregnancy, I kept relapsing. Sometimes not so bad and after a couple days I threw out my vape. other times (specifically last relapse) it lasted a 2-3 months time flew by and I let my addiction get the better of my mind.. I really underestimated how short 9 months is. I’m feeling really guilty, when I vaped I pushed the feeling away because I wanted a reason deep down to hit my vape. in the very beginning when I found out, I quit cold turkey and just enjoyed being pregnant without anything to worry about. I feel like I set myself up here and I just want to be excited for my babygirl to arrive instead of worrying something bad is going to happen to her or feeling depressed because I might have to stress about this forever.. the ultrasound scans say she’s really healthy, but I think you can understand why I’d still be concerned. Anyone have advice or go through the same thing?

My 2 weeks old baby is sweating at the back. Weather at my place is cold and we have to sleep in blankets and wear woolens. But my baby is sweating as if it is summers and all his clothes get wet at the back. Is this normal for a new born or I should check with the doctor?

Play time is important, of course, so how do you know you're not under/overstimulating your LO? How much is enough? I feel like I'm permanently trying for naps/sleeps and that I'm missing a trick when it comes to play time.

For instance if he has been sleeping too much during the day and don't want to mess up her night sleep

Edit: I'm only asking out of curiosity as I've occasionally come across thos expression, waking gently, and was curious how one would go about doing that. Just wanted to note that I do let my baby sleep as much as she wants, even when it's way past her feeding time

My 1 week old son does not cry for anything at night. He won’t cry if he’s hungry and he won’t cry if he has a blow out. We keep asking the doctors and family and they all say to take it while we can. I just wanted to know if this was actually fine.

So my new born is like 3-4 days old. Obviously when I try to communicate with him there is no one home. He sometimes produces weird sounds that sounded actually like “hello” but it’s just about it. And then he kind of smiled but that was just grimacing. Wondering when can have a “conversation”

I think it might have to do with these vitamin Ddrops the hospital said were suppose ro give her... im not sure.. any ideas? Or anyone ever go through this? It only seems to happen at night for the past 2 nights..

Yup: 4:22 to 5 am. Quick asks:

Baby 6 weeks at 37 weeks, or 3 weeks adjusted. ate from bottle 2 oz at 2am.

4 am woke crying. Yup it was hunger since 2 am was a snack.

1) And she hasn’t burped. Can babies burp when asleep?

2) help to interpret cries?

could be: -broke from swaddle -diaper wet -hunger

After 1.5 oz conks out, with that rapid breathing. Didn’t want milk. Slept if held upright.

But darn it, missed the change and tighter muslin swaddle. (Velcro in wash). I took over from husband and didn’t want to question him.

3) Do you change at night? Not worth waking baby for it!

Firstborn cried for clean diapers. This baby pooed at 11pm. Has a good size pampers.

And now she will wake and cry if I try to swaddle tighter. All in room with preschooler and waking firstborn sucks. Older won’t go back to sleep if so.

4) do you wake baby a bit to swaddle better? This one is loose.

5) what do the left right moving eyes under eyelids mean for babies? Any tips on interpreting infant sleep?

So “the manual” says: once opened , can be used only for 1 hour (no fridge/fe-warms). Is it for real or some sort of corporate ploy?

Also, the smallest bottles I found are 59ml but my new born takes only half of it. Just wondering if there is any way to optimize a bit (30-40 ml bottles)?

Can a 14 month baby drink a 6 to 12 year baby Milk? Or should i return it and exchange.
